My family has been buying Gertrude Hawk Chocolates for over 75 years. The candy is the best,…read moreperiod. The store is nice and well stocked BUT AVOID BUYING ON LINE AT ALL COSTS. I ordered some chocolates to be sent to my brother, who is in the hospital. I asked them to be sent UPS next day air. First, I receive a message stating the order had been shipped. BUT, it was sent UPS Ground. Tried to call GH, they had already closed there customer service department at 4:30 in the afternoon. A nice lady who answered wanted to hep, but she couldn't, and was very apologetic. So I called UPS. They informed me the shipment hadn't even been tendered to them. Emailed GH. Got an email back stating they didn't ship after Thursday afternoon to "protect he quality of their chocolates." Asked why then did they ship UPS Ground, since I had placed an order for myself on Wednesday, and since there was no hurry had it shipped by UPS Ground Shipment, and it won't arrive until Monday, SIX DAYS after it was placed. So much for "protecting the quality." Also asked why they said the shipment had been shipped when it hadn't. No response, then a curt message the shipment would go out on Monday. Still no answer whether it would be shipped next day air, which I had requested and paid for. TERRIBLE ATTITUDE AND COMPLETE LACK OF CARE, EVEN AFTER EXPLAINING MY BROTHER IS ILL AND IN THE HOSPITAL.

This location used to be an outlet store for Gertrude Hawk that focused on selling factory overruns…read moreand seconds (the chocolates that doesn't look as pretty). While you can still find excellent deals towards the back of the store they have expanded their selection with a nice looking candy counter, beautiful displays for the holidays and just general chocolate deliciousness. I like the quality of GH chocolates even though they are a large manufacturer based in the Scranton, PA area they still manage to have an old fashioned candy maker warmth to their brand. Seriously, look for those factory seconds in the back of the place. You can walk out with bags off chocolates and goodies on the cheap! While they may not be the prettiest of the offerings won't you give these neglected chocolates a comfortable home in your belly? You won't regret it!

I don't live in the area so it took me some time to find a place with goodies she would enjoy.  I placed my order around 2am on sunday night and requested it to be delivered in Nanticoke on Monday, I really meant ASAP, wasn't expecting it to be done by then, considering the late order. I called Monday morning just to see what day and time they were expecting it to be done... I spoke to Jen, who made my basket , is awesome and so sweet!! She informed me the basket would be delivered by 2pm that day!! I was so shocked and so excited! I give all the stars to this place. Great customer service and great at fulfilling their orders !! Thank you so much!

Trying to fly back to the Midwest through the recent polar vortex was a downer to say the least, but snacking on my chocolate covered sunflower seeds and smidgens made it all better. It made me so happy to return home to find my favorite childhood candy store still flourishing, filled with tasty treats, and children begging their parents for one more candy. The building has moved since I was a child, but has relocated to a charming and upcoming neighborhood, Petersburg Corner. A must stop for candy lovers.

Great old fashioned bakery with a nice selection of breads, pastries and cookies. The hard rolls…read more(less than $1 each!) looked phenomenal as did the bagels. Since it was close to St. Patrick's Day, they had Irish soda bread and also hot cross buns available. There were also biscuits with raisins in them. They looked fine! Unfortunately, there is no seating in the store, it is simply a store. I could see this being a nice place to come for a morning bagel or hard roll with butter. They just aren't set up to do so. I got an eclair and it was excellent, large and had a great ganache frosting. It was gone quite quickly. They also had a nice selection of cookies, danish and turnover pastries. You can buy rolls separately or in a bag. They have dinner rolls, too. If you're looking for "Texas toast" this is where you can get that kind of bread. Other kinds of bread that they have: Multigrain, Rye (unseeded), a pulled(?) white, and others. There was much more than I recall. Definitely worth the trip. Prices were reasonable and I'm sure the quality is better than you'll find at a grocery store.

She appeared very annoyed and so I said, "Do you not have a slicer back there?" She said they did but it was hard. Really? Hard to slice a loaf of bread with a bread slicer? Wow. Also, unfortunately, the sourdough lacked even a hint of sourdough flavor.
