I called the morning of to follow up and was greeted with the kindest gentleman named Herb who was working with another wonderful gentleman to make this delivery a special one. I shared that I hope to make our mom smile with the flower delivery. Angle Florist Shop truly went above and beyond and created this beautiful arrangement. The arrangement was made with love and thoughtfulness that made our Mom smile and nice reminder of how much we love her. We were told by staff that our art work would be ready to pickup within two weeks. They also informed us that one person in our group could return to pick up the art for everyone. I want to note, the owner was not present at that time. However, upon returning to pick up mine and my friend's art , I had an unpleasant experience with the owner. The owner was very hostile and combative towards me. She became angry because our group (4) requested separate tickets at the time of purchase. The interaction continued with the owner as things were very disorganized as she struggled to locate our art pieces. She later refused to allow me to pick up the art for my friends. Despite us being told by staff that it's a common practice for one person to pick up art for people in their group. I was required to show physical proof of others in my group. I felt as though I was singled out in this experience and will not be returning to this location.

Things I love from the Chocolate Spike: - Chocolate covered candied fruits (especially orange peel) - Truffles - Plain dark chocolate or bittersweet bits that you purchase by weight. They have not only standed out, but have given the different places an air of distinction. Two of the places that come to mind are the Six and Sky Restaurant and the new Starbucks in the heart of Downtown Roanoke. In the first case the flower arrangement was placed on the Host's station and in the second one it was placed on its large conference size table located in one of its corner there. Today, I decided to go visit the flower shop that has come out with such wonderful flower arrangements creations. Since its establishment in 1981, George Clements, the owner, has grown his business into the areas "go-to floral shop for everyday events such as, grand openings, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, religious services, get well soon wishes, funerals, celebrations, and special occasions, making a point that not only "ladies prefer flowers." Located on 1953 Franklin Rd SW in Roanoke, Virginia, just around the corner from Towers Shopping Center and with an online presence on their website at georgesflowers.com, this locally-owned flower shop, not only has custom flower arrangements and thoughtful gifts, but is also known for its exceptional same day flower delivery services in Roanoke and the surrounding areas, including Salem, Smith Mountain Lake, Cave Spring, and Vinton. They provided me with the name of the arrangement, the delivery price according to their address, and the option of coming back to order it once I knew the exact date, calling in the order, or ordering it through their website. In a cute, little, Hispanic family-owned business off Williamson Road in Roanoke, Virginia, I discovered this dessert shop named "La Michoacana." Followed by the slogan "El Autentico Sabor a Mexico." (The Authentic Flavor of Mexico). And to my surprise it was like finding the gold pot at the end of the rainbow. After being awarded the NC Triad Yelp Squad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, celebrating their contributions and accomplishments throughout the year, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And La Michoacana in Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. First of all, I wondered, why this name? What does it mean? "Michoacana is a lady who comes from Michoacan", the owner of the business told me. "I am a Michoacana." "I was born in Michuacan.," she continued. What is the significance of naming this business this name besides being that the owner comes from this state in Mexico? I did my research and found that Michuacan, is a state in west-central Mexico, known for its rich indigenous culture and the world's largest avocado producer. It is often called "The Soul of Mexico" due to its deep cultural heritage and vibrant traditions. The state is also famous for its carnitas, a dish of pork slow-cooked in lard; and is known as the "carnitas capital of the world." Michuacan is also considered the birthplace of paletas (Mexican popsicles). And these "paletas" imported from Mexico, together with Mexican "nieve," which is the word used in Mexico for helado or ice cream are two of the main products sold here, together with creative fruit snacks. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review for seeing is believing, and for an ice cream and dessert shop to be in business for almost 10 years now their products must be good. And I can tell you they are for I tasted them myself. As soon as I arrived, I parked my car in one of only three parking spaces in front of the store. Later I found out by the owners that they have more parking in the back of the store. A friendly lady who was the original founder and owner of the store and for whom the store was named, gave me a warm welcome after I greeted her in Spanish. Her husband of 5 years, whom she met at the store, was also there working and welcomed me. The store used to be smaller but after they married, the husband helped expand it. Many of us are familiar with American and Italian Ice Cream. I am also familiar with Caribbean Ice Cream made originally by Cuban-Chinese who afterwards moved to Puerto Rico and established their Ice cream shops there and were well known by their Creamy Tropical fruits Ice Creams such as Mango, Mamey, Guanabana, Coco, and Piña, among others. Mexican Ice cream is also unique in its very own way. I ordered a Bionico which was fresh fruits cut in pieces with a special sweet cream and granola on top. I also tried their Mango nieve (ice cream), and a Mango paleta (popsicle). They were very flavorful and with pieces of the fruit inside. I definitely highly recommend this dessert place when you feel like eating something sweet and refreshing. I found out that soon they are thinking of having crepes as well. I definitely will be returning soon for some more sweet treats and enjoyable conversation with these very pleasant couple.

Just the other day I received a text from a very good friend of mine telling me that there was a…read morenew restaurant in Downtown Roanoke. And he sent me the contact information, knowing that I'm a Yelp Elite All-Star reviewer., and that I enjoy finding new restaurants and being the first one to review them. So the first thing I did was to call the telephone number of Wild Jasmine Organic Restaurant. And to my surprise, Jasmine herself, the owner and chef of this new organic restaurant answered the phone. She explained that they had opened two weeks ago, and that they were located at the Wall Street side of the Historic Roanoke City Market Building. That they were currently open, and that there were currently a few on street parking near by that are free after five. I told her I was on my way, got in my Lexus and drove over there. Luckily I found a parking spot right in the corner of the street. Walking down the sidewalk where the WyndRose Boutique is located I saw the green sign of the Wild Jasmin Organic Restaurant. As I entered the door, a lovely lady with a wonderful personality, gave me a warm greeting with a big smile. It was Jasmine herself and nobody had to tell me, her radiance revealed to me who she was. She talked to me about how in the past she had done catering and now she had opened this little whole in the wall restaurant specializing in organic food. Inside, she showed me pictures of the items on the menu posted on one of the walls. There was the ordering counter with a modern credit card terminal on top, and a table filled with desserts on top. The few dining tables with chairs were outside in the open, but under a roof. She talked to me of how she'd been eating organic for years, and about all the organic food in the menu of her restaurant. I ordered a BBQ Turkey Burger with fries to eat and a Strawberry Mint Lemonade to drink. Everything was made with organic ingredients. She went in the back to cook it while I waited. Then, as I was taking a video of the restaurant she came out with a clamshell container with my food. This was the first time I had a turkey burger it tasted very good and didn't over fill you up. The fries were well seasoned and the thin type. After finishing eating all this, I had one of her organic Strawberry Shortcake Cup. It was a large portion but I ate it all. Afterwards I thanked her for the wonderful food and went inside the Market building to use the restroom to wash my hands. Whether you're used to eating organic food or not, trying it out can be a valuable experience, largely because it allows you to reduce your exposure to synthetic pesticides and fertilizers while supporting more sustainable farming methods. Besides this, you would be giving your support to a wonderful lady and human being.
