The front desk and tech staff were wonderful, but Dr. Wilcox was dismissive, unprofessional, and made inappropriate jokes and crude comments. He barely reviewed my scans, rushed the exam, and ignored key health concerns. A second optometrist (virtual!) identified a cataract, an eye freckle needing monitoring, and the need for UV protection--none of which Dr. Wilcox mentioned. His prescription also left out a significant astigmatism correction. I came for care and left feeling belittled. I wouldn't trust him with my vision again. The staff is excellent, but I do not recommend Dr. Wilcox.

Their billing practices are flawed. In April of 2025 I tried this practice for an eye exam. They told me I had insurance coverage, which was a pleasant surprise. They collected my $90, and I was on my way. Months later I got a bill for an additional $210 (a violation of the No Surprises Act). I called the office, and the woman I spoke to told me the bill didn't look right, looked really messed up, and she would do some further research and get back to me promptly. I was very happy with how she handled the call, but I never heard back. I've since called on three separate occasions. On one of the occasions, I was told the practice outsources all their billing and they couldn't help me if they wanted to. I asked for a reasonable timeframe to hear back, and the woman told me 48 hours. That was grossly inaccurate. I'd call a fifth time, but this practice has clearly demonstrated that won't be effective. My time is valuable, and 19 weeks after my initial appointment this mess still hasn't been resolved. Perhaps someone will get back to me after reading this review. UPDATE: promptly after I posted this review, Caitlin from the practice called. She was polite, forthright, and literally used the phrase "We take ownership" for the mistakes that happened. Bottom line: these people are human, they made mistakes, and though they took too long to rectify the problem they ultimately made it right. I'll likely be going back to give the practice another try. Genuine, caring in healthcare, and taking responsibility - I have to respect that.

The receptionist was so pleasant, and within minutes, said they could work me in that afternoon. I was then actually a little worried--if they could work me on, maybe no one goes there! I needn't have worried. I arrived to find a bustling, friendly, high-tech optometrist office. Clearly well-run, I was called back within 5 minutes. Dr. Turlington could not have been more professional and attentive. Within a half an hour I had been seen, diagnosed, and sent on my way with clear instructions and 2 prescriptions. And they saw me again today just to be sure I was healing properly. And again, it was all positive. The friend who drove me was so impressed with the selection of glasses that she ordered 3 pairs while I was being seen! I've never written a review on Yelp, but was so impressed, and grateful, that I decided this would be my first!

I am not normally someone who posts reviews on Yelp, but, because of the frequency with which…read morevisits to the doctor can become visits to your local medical hellscape, I wanted to write a note about the Eye Center. Every visit I have had here has been absolutely wonderful. I seldom have to wait beyond the scheduled time for my appointment, and, when the appointment does begin, the staff are courteous, caring, and attentive to what I am physically feeling. The women working in the optical division of the Eye Center are nothing short of wonderful, as well (my particular experience has been with Emily, whom I would credit for ensuring that I do not prematurely develop blindness). I tend to be very critical of doctors (medical jargon doesn't impress me, in the words of Julia Sugarbaker), and I've never had anything but wonderful experiences here. If your insurance covers the Eye Center, I would heartily encourage you to go. The facility is lovely and maintained impeccably, and the staff and doctors are a delight.

She declined to accept my insurance even though they are listed by the company as a provider. When I tried to show her the computer printout showing their participation, she refused to look at it. She claimed they did not accept insurance sold thru Tricare (my Aetna is purchased thru Tricare). She told me I had an attitude. She yelled at me. There is an optician who also works there. He took it upon himself to leave his business, walk behind the desk with the receptionist, and sit in a chair with his arms crossed. From there he told me I "had an attitude" that I needed to leave. He is not even an employee of Dr. Edwards yet his behavior was accepted and condoned by the receptionist. It is unfortunate that in order to see a really GOOD doctor such as Dr. Edwards, patients are subjected to such unprofessional behavior. I will not be going back.
