We wanted perfection and we got it! We visited Reynolds' Shop in North Vancouver one Saturday afternoon. We met with designer, Stephanie Kantonen. She listened to our needs and wants while pulling samples of cabinet and counter finishes. She was also getting to know us and we her. We spent around 1.5 hours with Stephanie and by the time we left we were convinced that we would look no further. Reynolds and Stephanie Kantonen had our work. No reservations from us. I might add here that we are a very disxerning couple in our late 60s. We knew what we wanted and we knew that Stephanie and Reynolds would deliver. Stephanie has an impecable sense of design. She was right for the job because she immediately understood the look that we wanted to achieve. Our townhouse was designed in 1983 by the highly accomplished architect, James KM Cheng. Cheng had given us some renovation guidelines to follow. We shared those with Stephanie and even gave her the responsibility of reworking Cheng's signature fireplace. She even customized all of our closets. On every occasion we were so impressed by her work. Always meticulous, always commuicative, always on budget and always on time. Take my advice, go to Reynolds in North Vancouver and you won't have to look further. Reynolds has been in business for 40 years. Owner, Jamie Reynolds, is also very hands on with projects. After being greeted by the very friendly Ammar we wandered through the showroom drooling over all of the vanities. Before long my husband came to me with the 'I found the one.' look on his face. Yes he had! Lacquered doors, quartz counter, porcelain basin, beautiful faucet and soft-closing doors and drawers. As Ammar went off to get the price list I braced myself. I was expecting it to be really expensive compared to what we saw at Rona. Sure it was more expensive but you're getting what you pay for. We also got a toilet there and even its design is elegant (hey it's your porcelain throne right?) and simple. If you don't think items like vanities and toilets are exciting you should have a look in here. Drool-worthy for sure!

They look fantastic and are easy to maintain. When I went to Eric's business and asked him if he could do this and do that his response was just what I was hoping for. He said "I can do anything you want." Of all the contractors I had been researching and talking to, and there were many during almost 18 months of looking, no one had said that. The reviews I'd seen online also noted Eric's professionalism, attention to detail, good advise, competitive prices and accommodating and those reviews are correct. We like him and we trust him. We wouldn't go to any other business now for cabinets or other similar jobs that we may need done in the future.

Having done a lot of our own research as to the different types of flooring available to us, our next step was whether retailers would have what we liked. We found many did not have the selection to give us more choice. We needed to find a good retailer who has good customer service and has staff who do excellent installation because we were not going to do it ourselves. At one big box retailer we were not too impressed by their impersonal sales staff, because they provided us with limited information on what would be involved to have the existing carpet removed and have the underlay and the new floor installed. A good friend had used Metrotown Floors and Interiors before and had referred us to contact them with our flooring project. So we made some time to contact them and to go visit their showroom. The showroom had a very good selection of all types of good to high quality flooring. The customer service representative Al Eris welcomed us as we came through the door. He asked us what was our plan and what needed to be done. Then, he made a home visit to measure the work space and bring up any concerns that needed to be addressed. For example, what baseboards could be used that would go best with the current door frames, trimming of the doors, and to consider that we may need to level the underground floor before installing the underlay and the new flooring. We were impressed by Al's professionalism and his attention to detail. So impressed that we chose to go with Metrotown Floors. Once we chose the underlay and flooring we wanted Al was quick to give us samples of the product, and he advised us of the cost estimate within a reasonable amount of time. He put the time and effort into understanding our needs and he was there for us before, during, and even after our job was completed. Reaching out to us to see if we had any concerns with the installation and if we are satisfied with his customer service and the hard working staff who did the installation. This company might look nice from the outside with all their fancy products, but the truth is the management there is completely incompetent. As an employee, if you have an issue, good luck getting any proper support- management just makes excuses and blames everyone else. It's obvious they don't respect their employees either, because the staff seemed stressed and miserable. Maybe if the managers actually did their jobs instead of hiding in the back office, this place wouldn't be such a mess. One of the worst work experiences I've ever had was working at this company.
