A tooth that had a root canal about 3 years ago went south - hidden chamber, mouth too small to correct. Dr. Zagari took a same day appointment (I call at 10 am in pain and told his staff the endodontist is recommending extraction, he can't fix the tooth, staff said great, come in at 1pm, 2pm tooth out). No pain! Just had an implant put in and the staff is super professional and Dr. Zargari is tops. Great follow-up! The hubby had all his wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Swain and that went super well. This is a typical UES practice that doesn't take insurance but they will submit your claim to your carrier for reimbursement (to you). The staff is friendly and efficient. No complaints!

Two of my wisdom teeth came in right after I had my first child and were impacted. One was close to the nerve, so regular dentists did not want to touch it. Exactly one week ago, Dr. Calat numbed the area completely, and it took him about 5 min to pull out both teeth. He was quick, precise, and thorough. Before I knew it, he was cleaning the area and suturing the extraction sites. He did say that it didn't always happen so easily, and it could take up to 2 hours in some cases. I had some pain that went away with Motrin and Tylenol the first day. The second day, there was no pain, only low-grade fever 99.8F. I didn't need any painkillers. I ate soft and mashed food and followed the instruction from the after-care list. I took Motrin before sleep just in case but didn't need it. On the third day, I went out for lunch and had seafood risotto. Tomorrow is my 15th wedding anniversary, and we are going out for steak. Thank you, Dr. Calat. My wisdom teeth extraction turned out to be a much better experience than previously anticipated.

The oral surgeon in charge (*NOT Dr Kissel) was twice unsuccessful and the implant didn't take. Fortunately an acquaintance of my wife directed me to Dr Kissel with whom she'd had a stellar experience after a car crash demolished her teeth. Dr Kissel assured me he'd be able to repair the bone and install and implant. He then discerned the reason the previous grafts failed: the adjacent tooth was also infected and would have to be extracted. How this escaped the notice of the oral surgeon that preceded him simply boggles the imagination. I'll spare you the saga that unfolded over the next three years. Suffice it to say that Dr Kissel went to nothing short of heroic lengths to repair my teeth and the considerable scarring of my gums from the aforementioned previous surgeries. This should not be considered hyperbolic, either - at one point he met me in his office at the very height of the pandemic to treat an infection. He was in full hazmat gear and the office was unstaffed and officially closed, but he came in to the city from his home on short notice. Despite the inconvenience and anxiety that leaving home during the most worrying peak of pandemic lockdown engendered, Dr Kissel was caring, professional and cool. He put me at ease during what was a very stressful procedure. I could go on for much longer than anyone would care to read as my road to reconstruction was so long and my admiration for Dr Kissel and his staff is so great. The "deep cleaning" took 10 minutes and I had to remind him to finish the upper left quadrant. I get two free cleanings a year but that's not good enough for Wen - he said I needed a deep cleaning. He also showed me special toothpaste for my "bleeding" gums. My gums were not bleeding at all. I had to file a complaint with Cigna and dispute the charges on my credit card. I was charged $97.60 for a cleaning that should have cost nothing. What deep cleaning takes 10 minutes? He doesn't care about your teeth. HE ONLY WORRIES ABOUT MONEY I remember one ugly episode where he started work on a young man and then the office got into a loud phone conversation with the kid's father about paying for the procedure. It was the most ridiculous thing I ever witnessed in a dental office. I also remember several patients questioning costs after a procedure was done. STAY AWAY.
