Held a bridal shower at the smith shelter park at Queeny and despite the rain, it was a bright and lovely day. It was a surprise and she was absolutely stunned! The shelter provided the perfect space and we were able to move the food tables underneath with enough space for the guests to eat and play games. Queeny is her favorite park so being able to incorporate it into her shower made her so so happy! There's plenty of parking and such a lovely high view of the overall park for a great backdrop for pictures. The best way to get to this spot is through the entrance from Weidman. A lot of us guests got lost by the many entrances and had to circle around and were afraid we would be too late but it all worked out! Would be great to have some signage at other entrances to say where to go to get to certain parts of the park. read more

Best park in STL contender! This park has it all! Spacious. Clean. Maintained. Beautiful. Accessible. The best add to this park is the Teddy and Friends accessibility friendly kid playground. The playground is vibrantly colored, soft padding for the grounds, accessible swings and other equipment. There are even musical elements of the space. Close by the park is their community center that has family friendly restrooms and diaper stations. Dogs are allowed in the park areas but not inside the center. The walking trails are very long so make sure you have enough time to explore. The trails are so wheelchair friendly but I recommend only skilled wheelchair users do the trails alone as there can be natural debris or elevation obstacles. read more

I absolutely love visiting Queeny Park. It is a beautiful park with lovely landscaping. I usually go to walk, although there are other amenities. There are many trails that are packed or paved. If it is hot, you can walk shaded trails which I like. There are specific trails for bicycles and horse areas. There are water fountains and bathrooms in different areas. Plenty of space to park, either in large free lots or along the road. read more

I had been waiting a long time for the new playground to open and it didn't disappoint! I love how accessible it is for all of the kids. My kids and I go to a lot of parks and the new playground had some cool, interesting, and safe options that I had never seen before. We were able to have a great time here. It's probably not as great for toddlers, but my 7 and 9 year old kids loved it. read more

One of my favorite parks to run outside or take the dogs for a nice walk. I trained for my marathon here regularly running four or five loops around the perimeter. The trails through the woods are nice and maintained well. You're usually walking on gravel or dirt in the woods. It's a popular park so you are rarely alone in solitude unless you go at an off time. The bathrooms are not disgusting, which is to say that they are nice by park standards. They have picnic tables, bbq pits, large open fields for yard games or I often see gatherings here with family's or things like that. They have a couple lakes my dad likes to fish along with a member only dog park which is huge. The playground seems to be perpetually under construction but when I was a kid I remember it being so cool. They also have a large gazebo at the base of the hill with a covered picnic area. read more

I had to steal my little nieces & nephews during a high school graduation to climb around the huge playground pyramid. This building & park is deceptively huge and diverse. Get maps & have a plan. The park can get very crowded on good weather weekends & with hikers, jogging, bikes & horses. The trails can get muddy in the Northeast areas during wet times. The main entrance is on the East side and brings you to the center of the park for parking, restrooms, the ice rink, meeting center, pool and playground with pyramid, The northwest corner is the obstacle equestrian area. Just Southwest of the playground area is the large rentable pavilion area with softball, volleyball, HUGE BBQ pits and large Green grass area for inflatable bounce buildings. Great Dog Park! This park is a membership only park. Must present current vaccinations and $50 for a dog (extra $15 for additional dogs) The park has two sections, smaller dog and large dog area. The large dog area is pretty large over an acre. Lots of benches inclu ding a picnic area with shade and fans (and outlets) great for working on the computer. This review is about the dog park: I love taking my dog to the tails and trails dog park here! It is a great way to socialize her since there are a ton of members. There are a couple super territorial bigger dogs, but the owners are good about taking control of them in times of concern. I love everything about it such as the huge area for them to run in and the facebook group we use to make plans for when everyone goes up. I am super excited to see the water features turn on when it gets warmer! My only concern is that in April-May 2021, the park was closed for about a week straight. Out of the whole year, I guess that isn't a big concern, but it is super frustrating when your dog wants to go outside and run and socialize but there is no where you can take them. Hopefully they won't have that happen again this year since the rainy season is almost over. During this concern, I was wanting to get a refund for my membership. Adam Bliley was super helpful in passing my concerns to the "decision makers" as he put it. I ended up keeping my membership, hoping another super long period of time the park is closed wont happen again. Adam was patient with me, quick to respond, and had a great attitude even when I was upset. Thanks Adam! read more

This was my favorite park when I was a little kid, and it still rocks. I was at the park very recently, and I'm not ashamed to say that I had a blast! There are tunnels to explore and hide in and tons of slides. The center of the park is a pyramid-shaped structure you have to "rock-climb" up to get to the top. That's where you find the tunnels and all the nooks and crannies that you can hide in. It's completely different than any other park in the area. The only kind of disappointing thing is that they got rid of the zip-line that they used to have. I'm sure it was for liability purposes, though! We are in the middle of a pandemic, using a County tax-payer facility, wanting to take the family for ice skating. They have us waiting until 8pm all crowded, less than 6ft apart. No organized line only to be told when there are less than 10 people in front of us(6 of those people walked in AFTER we did but confusion on where line ended!) that they are at capacity. I understand the capacity issue, however; I do not understand why one of the staff could not have come out to stop the line before we were all crammed in together at the capacity #?! I like this park. It's very large and is a great place to bike or run on the paved trails. There is also a dog park for the pups. Not a bad place for a picnic. My only complaint is that it really isn't a nature park and doesn't have much special scenery. But not bad for being in the heart of STL county! read more

This is easily one of the best parks in St. Louis. The park is huge, and there is absolutely no shortage of things to do here. The pool is huge...and it's cheap to get into. As a St. Louis County resident it only costs about $4. Try and beat that at any of the other municipal pools in the area. The pool is sparkling too and never as packed as The Lodge down the street. Sure, there's no wave pool or fancy slides or even a lazy river, but if you are just looking for an old fashioned cement hole, this place is aces. There is a nice long lap lane as well if you are feeling inspired by Michael Phelps. The trails at this park are perfection as well. They are not cement, but dirt, so they are a little easier on your knees when you run. Also, because they are so shaded, they are easier on your body and you won't over heat. Your dogs paws also won't be baking on the asphalt as you walk or jog on these paths. The playground here is awesome too. My parents used to take me here all the time when I was a little kid and now I love to bring my niece here to swing and run through tunnels. It's a safe park as well and easy to watch what is going on around you, so you don't get those child abduction fears we all have installed in us from years of watching bad ransom movies. They also have a ton of great events in the huge recreation center here. Everything from graduations to parties to science fares (I have been here for all these events). In fact, it was in Queeny Park at an adopt a friend event that I got my sweet little Beagle that is sitting at my feet as I write this. read more

I can't wait to go back here to go jogging. The trails are paved and graveled and offer a nice variety of scenery. If you're going to run, make sure to pick the Eagle picture trail and stick to it. It's about 4.4 miles long and takes you through wooded and open areas, through flat and hilly terrain and past some pretty neat houses to make you super jealous! I think it would also be fun to use the equestrian grounds as a bonus obstacle course mid run. As long as there aren't any horses about, I'm going to run through there and up and over all of those horsey jumping hurdles! Work out city! Next time, i just gotta get the old man to jog with me! walking smalking! Take the owl trail for an easy go. I didn't take the wolf trail but it looked promising. read more

This park would be great except for one thing. The horses. First, while there are signs everywhere telling you to clean up after your pet, evidently that doesn't apply to the equestrians because you can't walk 10 feet on a trail without having to dodge a big steaming pile of horse shit. Second, while the trail system within the park is CLEARLY marked at being for pedestrians and PARK SERVICE VEHICLES ONLY. The equestrians seem to think they can drive their BMW's any where they want. I tried to walk my dog there one Saturday and nearly tripped many times because the dozens of cars and golf carts on the running trail were scaring the dog. When you are having a horse show in a public park you do NOT get to kick out everyone else. read more

I'm definitely a fan of Queeny Park. It is huge! Very spacious, plenty of trails for walking and jogging. I'm not sure if there are separate bike paths or not. I've never actually seen any bikers on the trails I've been on, but not sure. I've been to the Adult Easter Egg Hunt here a few years back and it was a riot. Definitely a good spot for something like that. It's a good mix of woods and open space so you almost feel like you're out in the country. There is a playground, rec center and pool, along with plenty of pavilions with picnic tables that you can reserve. Also, horseshoes, a baseball diamond, and volleyball net, I think. So definitely something for everyone. I usually come to the park during lunchtime to read or walk and I do have a couple complaints. I've only ventured around the west side of the park off Weidman, but there aren't very many benches near the parking lot. In fact, there are two. So if those are occupied it's a nice little walk into the park before you come to the next bench. Though picnic tables abound. Also, the one map I've seen in the park was pretty useless. I'd like to know how far the paths are, where they go, etc., but I haven't been able to find that info anywhere in the park. But, overall this park is pretty awesome. read more

My first Roller Derby experience was a couple weeks ago at Queeny Park. I have 2 friends that are referees for men's and women's derby so some friends and i went out to show our support. Roller Derby is awesome! Queeny Park is awesome! The complex we were in was small, cozy, run by nice people. It smelled like athletes though, i will say that. My only complaints are the smell and the limited parking near the building. I'm really just whining because it was cold and i had to walk farther.. on a summer night i wouldn't have thought twice about it. There was a concession stand, nothing fancy, which had pizzas and well-priced beers as well as soft pretzels and other typical concession items. Metal bleachers line the stands, some people were on chairs on the rink.. i think those may have been season ticket holders (which i didn't realize was a thing.. for derby). We paid $10/person to get in, which is sometimes a turn off but it was a good time and they have to make money to keep the building running somehow. read more

I have been here many times over the years, now we mainly go for the hiking so this review is more about the trails than the recreation complex. I would classify the hiking at Queeny as easy to moderate and many parts of the trails are paved. It is also a fairly popular park so it is usually busy. However the park is located in the heart of the St. Louis metro area so it is very convenient and there are a variety of landscapes that the trails go through (meadows to forest to regular county park fields/buildings etc.) so this is an outstanding place to hike or walk or trail run. We usually take the Hawk Ridge trail north from the west parking lot and loop around the equestrian fields which have many interesting structures for the horse competitions. Some ancient trees are along this trail, one is nearly 300 years old. There are signs marking these trees and their estimated ages (however some of the signage is being replaced by QR codes). read more

Queeny Park is one of the more enjoyable parks around the St. Louis area that I like to go to. One of the reasons I would say that I enjoy going to it is that it is more natural, not groomed like many parks. Here you have dirt paths, horse trails, and lots of woodland coverage over your head as you make your way down the paths. Queeny Park is an especially friendly to our best friends, dogs. Yes, here our canine friends can enjoy the outdoors without worry to fences or being distracted the UPS truck stopping and making a delivery down the street. Of course, you must keep your dog on a leash. Queeny Park is a great place to get out and into nature for a little while. The paths are shady and there are plenty of watering stations for you and your pet. read more

I had an ice-skating birthday party here not too long ago (ok, last year), and we had a lot of fun! The rink is nice, and as long as they sell hot chocolate and pretzels with cheese, I'm a happy camper. On Easter, we came for the annual adult egg hunt, which was a riot. Even my grandmother would have fit right in with all the ladies scrambling for eggs! The playground here (as many others have noted) is quite unique. It has lots of tunnels and a central mound that looks like something a hobbit could live in. I used to go to the pool as a child and I know it's still really cheap to get in to. Visit the Dog Museum on a day when they're having a party for a particular breed (such as the "pug party"), and you'll see some hilarious dog costumes and adorable puppies up for adoption. read more

I'm reviewing this park from the perspective of a runner. For many reasons, this park scores very highly in my book. Among them are the proximity, size, diversity, cleanliness, and ease of parking. This sweet little park has it all. And it's not that little! First, it's close to home, therefore very accessible right off Manchester Rd. When things are easy to get to, I'm much more apt to go. It also has a great variety of terrain. If you're looking for some nasty hills that'll make you want to walk, in addition to gently rolling crushed gravel pathways through a meadow, this is the place. There's about a half-dozen different trails that interconnect throughout the park, so even after running there religiously for weeks, I can come up with new combinations of loops. This is ideal because it's not good to get bored while running. Even running the same old routes in reverse is refreshing and offers a great new perspective on the park. Another upside is the wildlife. In just 80 minutes of running this morning, I saw 25 deer. Only one was a buck, though. Good for him, right!? Beyond that, there are so many bunnies you can be pretty confident that if you trip, one of those little bastards will probably cushion your fall. Turtles, and other swampy creatures abound, in addition to a slew of cool birds. The whole park is very well maintained and manicured. Its patrons are of the upstanding variety, too. At almost any time of day, there is somebody on the trails, taking advantage of the shade and the scenery, yet it never has a "busy" feel. Just enough people around to make you feel safe in case the bunnies get organized and try to start shit. Sure, there are much more technical and challenging trails to tackle for the hardcore adventurist, but none of them can say that they don't have a tick problem. Queeny wins in the that department, too. It is a terrific system of easily negotiable trails suitable for runners/walkers of all abilities. And to my knowledge, there are not gates that prevent you from getting there at 5AM to get an early start before it gets too hot. Now go get some exercises! read more

I am training with Fleet Feet for an upcoming marathon, and I have to say that I was warned about Queeny being a tough trail to run (very hilly), so I was nervous going into our 16 mile run here recently! However, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed running here! We met in the parking lot on the top of the hill and ran the 4 mile loop around the park. The loop takes you through a mix of paved trails and also trails in the woods backing up to some houses off of Mason Road. I loved that the trail was always wide, it makes it easy for you to run with a group and still run side by side. I have been known to be clumsy every once in a while, so I am always very careful when running on trails, they aren't always my favorite! The trails here aren't very packed, so there are lots of spots through the woods where you have to watch your step for large rocks and uneven terrain. The 4 mile loop is very hilly, there are lots of ups and downs, but it really isn't that bad (that is unless you are running that loop 4 times in a row like we had to do, LOL!) and I enjoyed the change of scenery throughout the run. The park is very well kept in a nice area, I know they also have a lot of place to picnic there as well as a building where they have hockey leagues. Nice place to run for a change of pace and a little bit of a challenge! read more

The dog park us what I'm reviewing. It's a nice dog park if it was ever open. I understand closing it when its wet out, but this past weekend it was closed 3 days after it rained. It was sunny and 80 degrees and the park gates were chained and locked. I looked at the ground in the park and it was completely dry. I bought a membership to use and can't. Complete waste of money. At least I know not to get a membership again. Get it together or dont charge for a membership. read more

I moved away from St. Louis and the one thing I miss more than anything about the entire city and region is Queeny Park. I would frequent these trails almost every day and always enjoyed every minute of it. I like how there are different regions of the park in regards to vegetation, trails and things to look at, it keeps it very interesting. The outer loop is about 4 miles and it is great to run on. I have spent so much time there through the years. My husband and I just love hiking the beautiful trails and you decide whether you want to do a long hike or short. My dogs love it, the kids, it's really the perfect park for all ages. We have taken beautiful photographs because every season has something to offer and then don't forget the dog museum.
