They worked quickly, kept the area organized, and left the installation looking clean and sleek. There was a plumbing issue during installation involving the inlet/outlet configuration corrected it immediately. They also noticed that my existing water-softener drain line was smaller than what they preferred for proper regeneration. Rather than ignoring it, they brought it to my attention and Joseph agreed to upgrade the drain line so the new system could operate properly long term. I really appreciated that they identified the potential issue before it became a problem later. The difference in my water was immediate. I took my first shower after installation and it was incredibly soft and silky -- noticeably better than the Whirlpool system I had for 7 years since it can soften and filter for chlorine and other contaminates. I also appreciate how simple the maintenance is. I only need to keep salt in the brine tank, and the system regenerates automatically. No special softener-cleaning products or complicated routine maintenance. I spent $3k for the unit and install, and this is one of the best investments to make for your home, skin, hair, and physical health. Mixed feelings about Nation's Pure…read more First got a quote for a water softening and under sink RO from Culligan for $9000. Then Nation's Pure quoted me $8000. Culligan agreed to match the price. Then the sales rep from Nation's Pure dropped the price down to $4000. So that just tells you a bit regarding how much margin is built into these systems if they can cut 50% of the price at the drop of a hat. I probably could have pushed to have it reduced even further. The 6-month service fees got to be too much too. Want to say they were $125-$150 first few years, last time I think it was as high as $265. They did provide 6 x 40 or 50 lb bags of salt, however it's cheaper for me to go to Home Depot and buy salt there instead. You can also buy 3 years worth of filters for what you will pay for just one single service call which is wild. I'm also still having issues with corrosion and sediment in our water heater, enough do that it caused a non-fixable seal to corrode on our $12K water heater, which had to be replaced but was luckily covered by a warranty. According to the plumbers, they said they see a lot of issues with water heaters going out faster from water softeners due to higher salt levels in the water. I would agree with this sentiment as our tap water is so salty that if you have the smallest cut anywhere on your body and take a shower / bath, it's like pouring salt on an open wound. First time I heard my boys scream out in pain in the shower I thought they were just exaggerating, but no, it really does hurt, especially depending on where the cut, scrape, etc is. It also seems like I have to change filters out on the RO faster than 6 months as the water develops a pretty nasty taste within the first 3-4 months and when I change out the filters they are already pretty dirty, and wouldn't have wanted to wait the 6 months to a year that some of them aren't supposed to be changed till. I am sure the bigger filters for the water softening unit are coming up on needing to be changed, but I intend to find alternatives and if necessary, pay another water filter company to swap out their system for one that doesn't rely on a salt based system. No major issues with the techs, but just feel a bit like we were sold a false bill of goods. Would have been better off putting in a RO filter system under our sink and calling it a day for a couple hundred bucks, instead of $4K plus however many service calls I paid for before discontinuing them. It also would have been nice if they'd built the aluminum housing in such a way that you could more easily read the bigger filter gages.

When I texted to schedule my maintenance, I also mentioned one room that seemed warmer than the rest and asked if they could take a look at it while they were already there. Instead of scheduling the maintenance I had already paid for, they set up an entirely different service appointment without making that clear to me. When the technician arrived, he told me he couldn't do the maintenance that day and that I would have to schedule another appointment. Then he looked at the warmer room and assured me the repair "wouldn't be that much." Later, I find out that he was supposed to have shown me an estimate BEFORE he did any work. That obviously did not happen because I would have said absolutely not. He spent very little time in the attic, claimed he "unblocked" one vent and adjusted dampers, then handed me a bill for $199. Even with a veteran's discount, I still paid $174 that I was never expecting to spend. I had literally just paid over $200 for a maintenance membership, and instead of receiving the service I paid for, I left with another unexpected bill. To make matters worse, the technician appeared unprofessional. He was coughing constantly and seemed to have difficulty breathing from the moment he arrived until he left. His clothes were dirty, and his zipper was halfway down the entire visit. It did not inspire confidence in the quality of the work being performed. After everything was over, I honestly cried because I felt completely taken advantage of. The technician knew I hadn't intended to schedule that service, yet he reassured me it wouldn't cost much before presenting me with a $199 charge. I contacted the company afterward. They refunded my membership fee, but they have refused to provide a detailed invoice explaining exactly what I was charged for. The technician simply entered a dollar amount with no itemized breakdown. As a customer, I deserve to know what I paid for. The worst part? The room is still warmer than the rest of the house. I don't even know if anything was actually fixed, and after this experience, I don't trust the claims that the vent was "unblocked" or that the dampers were adjusted.
