Came in for couples…read moremassage and things felt a little off from the beginning, but we were already there so why not stay. We actually go to get massages pretty often and unfortunately this was by far the worst we have ever gotten. It just was not good, it felt like my kid was playing around on my back ‍ the space was cold, and unwelcoming. Then at the end we were literally pressured to tip. I have never seen anything like it. Soon as we got to the front they had the receipt there waiting with a pen, (we already paid and signed so clearly it was bc they wanted us to write on a top... literally three people were waiting looking at us. It was weird. So bc we were unsatisfied we decided to tip 10%, in which the man proceeded the yell "EXCUSE ME" we were so taken aback ... I decided to go to my cash app to see what was in it... it was a bit more "petty cash" so I used my cash app to give a forced additional tip (something they didn't tell us about it the beginning after saying our only option of paying was cash or card and we were charged $5 to use our card). Do not recommend

I scheduled an appointment with Eastern Roots Wellness after confirming that they accepted…read moreinsurance, including my United Healthcare plan which covers acupuncture. I booked the visit a couple of weeks in advance, completed all required forms, and provided my insurance information. They also required full payment upfront, explaining it would be adjusted later to account for any copays or insurance coverage. When I arrived for the appointment, the receptionist immediately informed me that Eastern Roots was not in-network with United Healthcare and that I could instead submit an out-of-network claim. That was not an acceptable option, as out-of-network costs are significantly higher. It was clear the practice knew this in advance but failed to notify me until after I had driven over an hour to get there. When I requested a refund--since I was unwilling to proceed with a provider that misrepresented their insurance status--they refused, citing their 24-hour cancellation policy. However, I hadn't canceled the appointment; I arrived in good faith, expecting coverage. Only once I learned the true facts, which the clinic already knew, did I decline to continue. To make matters worse, the owner, Sarah Alemi, did not speak with me directly and instead sent an email referencing the cancellation policy. At this point, I have disputed the charge with my credit card company. I would strongly caution others to verify network participation and transparency before booking with this practice

Quality, quality, quality…read more Frank is the most thoughtful, intelligent, and qualified acupuncturist I have found in the DC area. I've seen several other individuals for massage, acupuncture, and dry needling. But I have always gone back to Frank because he is the best. I've been seeing Frank for over four years now. Specifically, Frank has played a key role in my healing process for my shoulder and back injuries and numbness in my arms. We focus a good deal on dry needling on my neck, shoulder, and back. I find that he is the most careful and smart with dry needling. I have been to physical therapists and chiropractors who try to dry needle, and it's scary how ill equipped they were. Go see Frank. Whether you're an athlete or a stressed out profession (or like me...both!), you will walk away better in mind and body after seeing Frank.

It always surprises me that the whole treatment is only an hour. It feels like longer. For those who had trouble reaching him on the phone, I would recommend email. He has more than one office and no assistant. I haven't tried calling him, but he's always been very responsive to email, sending a reply either the same day or next day.

Liu…read moreworks very hard to maintain a level of polite professionalism and in four years I have never had a problem. Other massages places can be less desirable. Most are really selling sexual services, and can be very demanding with tips, grungy and dark. I had to visit several places looking for one that is professional! At Lucky you're covered with a sheet most of the time and they only uncover what they are working on. I like that because it doesn't feel so exposed. Temperature is good, no ceiling fans blowing. The price is reasonable at $70. With the bad economy and high inflation, it's a miracle to even find a place this reasonable. The only annoyance I have, if you can call it that, is that it can get busy and the cell phone vibrates a lot. The music might mess up every once in a while. A polite word of caution: Very little English is understood here. I have never found this to be an issue, and suggest to be clear and upfront with what you want. Liu will take great care of you.

The acupuncture itself was painless! It was my first time receiving this treatment and Khanita was helpful in explaining the entire process (it made me feel super intrigued! She has diagrams on the wall, which showed me a lot about her knowledge in acupuncture). Cupping was uncomfortable at first, but Khanita made adjustments to ensure I was comfortable. The few chiropractic exercises at the end of my session was the cherry on top and helped ease a lot of the tension I felt in my upper back. I can't wait to visit Araya Acupuncture again.
