I had a ticket which is needed if you want to look around the shop but if you know what you want you can just queue up to a onsey line ( no ticket needed). They had 2 doors, one for people who wanted to go in and shop, and one for people who went there only wanting one thing and knowing what they wanted. This was my first time visiting Eden Hand Arts. Went on the "onesey" line because I got online to get tickets too late in the season but I knew what I wanted so it wasn't an issue. The lady assisting us was fast and friendly and the line wasn't too long when I went around noon. I waited about 10 minutes and it then took about 5 minutes to get measured for the bracelet and pay. My one problem was that the ticket line wasn't very long, almost non existent. It would have been nice on a slow day like that to have been let in the store to look around, I might have purchased more. I have been going to Eden for about 20 years and each time has been a positive experience for me and I will share my thoughts since there are a lot of negative reviews here. I know many people don't like the ticket system, but after the bracelet was featured in The Bachelor years ago the popularity exploded and it is a requirement to ensure that the crowds are not extreme especially since the shop is not only small, but it is located in a neighborhood with limited parking and also right on rte 6A. Before the tickets I had to wait in line and never knew how busy it would be....sometimes I could walk right in or waited only 10 minutes and sometimes it was an hour. At least with the tickets now I know I would be able to get in at a reasonable time since they limit the number of people. All the saleswomen were very nice and never rushed me while shopping either. They also give suggestions on where to wear your bracelets if you have a collection of them. One summer I went to the side door since I had no ticket (because of a trip down the Cape on a whim )and I knew what I wanted anyway. (Fisherman's knot) Unfortunately they were sold out for the season but the saleswoman brought out a few other bracelets for me to look at and I ended up purchasing it.(Halo). I hope this review helps others that may want to pick up a piece of beautiful handcrafted jewelry but are turned off by the negative reviews. I visited the "onesy" line at Eden today and had the nicest experience possible. A few weeks ago I contacted them through Facebook asking if they could tell me whether or not they had an item in stock if I sent them a picture of what I was looking for. They responded and were able to give me all of the information I needed, including how much money I should bring with me. Today I arrived at around 2 and waited in line for no more than 5 minutes. I showed them the photo of what I wanted and they ran back and forth until I found the perfect size. I felt bad that I was having a difficult time deciding on a size, so I apologized and the woman replied "no worries, we just want you to be happy with your purchase!" I was in and out in less than 15 minutes and I'm in LOVE with my new bracelet. I have the original screwball bracelet, however I received that as a gift so today was my first time visiting the shop. Their rules are specific and strict, but if you read up on their website before you visit, and follow all instructions they provide for you, you will have a good experience. There is a method to their madness, and if you don't want to respect their method, then don't expect them to cater to your every need!! I'll tell you something: once upon a time, I unknowingly bought a fake screwball bracelet. I know. I know. I realized this because my bracelet was suddenly too big (and spinning around) and when I did some research, I realized I'd been wearing a fake! So I waited until Eden Hand Arts was open (see website for hours) and then we made the trip to Dennis early on a Saturday morning. They opened 10am, and we got into the line around 9:15. We were about the 20th in line at that point. They did open the doors just before 10, which was nice. There was a pretty big line by that point. Further along in the high season, there is a ticket system, but since it was so early, we didn't need a ticket. They only allow X number of people in at a time (it's small) due to fire safety rules. Totally worth the wait. Maureen helped me (she's wonderful) and took the time to explain everything, let me try on so many bracelets and was really helpful about what bracelets go together, how to pair them, etc. She told me not to make any rush decisions and to take my time making my purchase. I ended up buying the silver and gold screwball as well as a tuille bangle that is also silver and gold. They don't accept credit cards, so bring cash or a checkbook. You used to spend hours in line to get into their shop. Now you apply online for a ticket. Only the tickets are limited and so far not available. I went to the 'no ticket' line, even though nobody was on the 'ticket' line. The woman was inexperienced and very unhelpful. She acted like it was her first job and didnt understand customer service. She refused to tell me what was inside for the 'ticket' people. They lost a cool$150 at least from me. How dumb is that? The last bracelet I bought was unfinished underneath. The quality has gone down hill since the original owners died, and the new designs are cheaply made. They even look machine enhanced. And... THEY DONT take credit cards. Why not beg to lose business? I have gone to Eden twice and had great experiences twice. Both times, I went in the winter. In the winter you do not need a ticket, so I have never dealt with that part of visiting. The first time, I knew exactly what I wanted, so we went to the side door and got the screwball bracelet. We were in and out within a matter of minutes and and it was great! The 2nd time I went I wanted to look around inside. We had to wait outside for a moment, as the store is too small to let too many people in at once. Once inside, we browsed around and the staff was very helpful and friendly to me. I would recommend. These are by far my favorite bracelets I have ever owned as well. I have been visiting the Cape consistently now for quite a few years and am a huge fan of Cape Cod jewelry; although up until this past MDW I didn't personally own any pieces. For my birthday, boyfriend did some research and unearthed a marvelous find; Eden Hand Arts. Eden is in-fact where the 'Cape Cod bracelet' was born. According to the Web site and the people in the store, no one else on the Cape is authorized to manufacture or sell the Cape Cod Screwball® bracelet and the store even has an Eden® tag on all their Cape Cod Screwball® bracelets to prove authenticity. As the person below me highlighted, you will most likely have to wait on a long line to get into the store. The store is pretty small and the owners pride themselves on giving each customer individualized attention. All of their jewelry is handcrafted and one can tell a meticulous attention to detail has been made. What is even more apparent is the love and passion the owner has for jewelry, her customers and her business. In a world full of chain stores and big conglomerates; very few places like this still exist. One thing I was really shocked about was the price of everything. I assumed getting a handcrafted piece from the birthing ground of Cape Cod jewelry would mean dishing out some serious dough, but we all know what happens when one assumes. I was curious to see what my experience would be like after seeing some negative reviews here, on Facebook and on TripAdvisor. My sister-in-law and I showed up yesterday around 11 or so, and there was no traffic whatsoever, and only one other couple waiting in line ahead of us. Since it's still early June, you don't yet need tickets. We waited for about 5-10 minutes and were ushered inside. The salesperson asked us if we had ever been; I had not, and she walked me through all of the different designs that Eden had to offer, and then left us to our own devices to explore the small shop. This year's new bracelet design is a sun and moon, where the sun is a small gold ball that hooks through the large, circular "moon," similar to the Shepherd's Hook design. As far as I could tell, all of the older designs were still available (Willow Leaf, Cup and Ball, Herring, Bittersweet, Fisherman's Knot, etc.) There is also a new neck wire that is of similar style to the open double ball bracelet, an open silver wire with two gold balls resting on either side of the clavicle. Reading how some people were followed around the shop or chastised by the staff, I was tentative, but that was something we never experienced. The shop had three or four customers and three saleswomen, all of whom seemed friendly and accommodating, but not overbearing or harsh. We weren't sped along or pressured to buy anything, and we probably spent about twenty indecisive minutes before we made any moves. We walked all over, picked up the pottery and were generally very hands-on. A side note: I know most come here for the jewelry, but the pottery is charming and lovely. There are a number of clay/porcelain hanging ornaments, as well as mugs, bowls and vases with very sweet designs. The woman who took care of us (never caught her name) was thorough and friendly throughout. She took our wrist measurements and brought out a few different options for us to try on. We weren't pressured into one size or another, and she encouraged us to put the jewelry on and wiggle our wrists about to see how it moved and felt, and told us to go with whatever felt most comfortable. I ended up going with the classic screwball bracelet in solid gold, which will run you $743 (including tax). My sister-in-law purchased the Fisherman's Knot and the Aventurine bracelet, which came to about $450. The Aventurine bracelet was for her mother, and she took out her phone to text her and ask her the size of her wrist. The salespeople never objected to seeing a phone and did not seem concerned in the slightest. To be fair, I don't know that I would come all the way to the Cape simply to go to Eden, but if you're around and you have the time (we were visiting family near Falmouth) I would make a point to go. It is a quaint shop with helpful staff and gorgeous, impeccably crafted jewelry. If you are particular and discerning about your purchases, this place is for you. It's easy to see why the classic designs sell, and the more contemporary designs are nothing to sneeze at, either. The purchase was made all the more special for me knowing that my bracelet was made on the Cape, a place I love so much, and in a specific family tradition. read more

Eden is one of my favorite summer destinations. If you know the rules ahead of time it can be a very enjoyable and very memorable experience. As someone who has been a customer there for almost 13 years, I can tell you that the rules and the tickets help tremendously with parking and wait times. The women there are wonderful and have always been patient with me and I am one of the most indecisive people you'll ever meet. This year I picked up the shepherds hook to add to my collection and I love it! There are so many beautiful styles to choose from that limiting it to one is extremely difficult!!! The Shepard's hook is $206 including sales tax. I always show up 30 minutes before they open to make sure I get in and get out. Guaranteed that there is a line down the sidewalk by the time they open. Due to fire code, they can only allow so many people in (including staff) at a time so don't take offense when you are asked to wait outside till you are invited in. There are 4-5 parking spots out front on the road (a little side lot in the front with another 4-5 spots) and a small back lot (go down Dr. Lord's Road and the lot is behind the house). If these are full, we have also parked at Scargo Beach which is literally across the road and it's a short walk up to the shop. I've never paid to park there (not sure if they charge in peak season). I started asking questions about the shop itself (having been there too many times to count) and they told me that they had one person making the jewelry and it took him almost a full day to make ONE bracelet. So he basically works around the clock year round to keep them stocked up. So yes, the prices can be high depending on what you buy (although I find their prices cheaper than the crappy knock offs), but each one is made by hand so support your local artisans and buy from Edens! Only "authentic" Cape Cod jewelry. It is quite an obsession among Cape Codders, me included. I get myself a new piece of jewelry to add to my collection every summer. I won't buy cape cod looking jewelry from any other store and I HATE when people in Albany comment that they too have a "Cape Cod bracelet" and when I ask them if it is from Edens they look at me like I have 10 heads... and I feel bad telling them it's not a real cape cod bracelet and breaking their little hearts.. Even though Edens has always been swamped at most times during the day, it has gotten worse in the past few years, after it was featured on the tv show the Bachelor. Since the even higher demand, they issue tickets for times you can come to the store and you can only go on that day during that specific time. You can request these through email but if you can hit Edens in the off season or at the very beginning of the summer when they open full time and you don't need tickets, I would recommend it. Love the home made, hand crafted jewelry and I will always go back to check out new styles they come out with every year. Everything is fit to you specifically, which is why lines take forever. I wasn't sure what to expect visiting Eden Hand Arts as it's hard to find much about their jewelry online and you can only buy it in person. I was intimidated not knowing what to expect going in because of what I had read here on Yelp. I previously owned 3 of the bracelets in my picture which I bought from a competitor. I like to support original artists but couldn't get to Eden before then, and anyone who can't get to Dennis but loves the jewelry may want to consider that there are other private producers that are related to the original owners of Eden that are not big jewelry companies and do sell online. In any case, I didn't dare wear my non Eden jewelry into the shop, and I'm glad I didn't because I overhead another staff member and customer talking about knock offs and other companies "riding on coat tails," etc, which I think is not so cool. Bit too elitist for my liking. Anyway, bottom line... The positives... Beautiful jewelry. Good variety. Very friendly interaction with my staff member. Wasn't busy at all on May 12. (I'm sure the busy season is much different.) Also nice pottery items for those that like hand made pottery. The negatives... Expensive. The pieces are beautiful and I'm sure good quality silver and gold, but you will definitely pay a premium for popularity, which I did and don't regret, but is something to be aware of. They only take cash and checks, so go prepared. Some bracelets were $100 to $150, but most I noticed were about $200. I went to Eden last year and my bracelet broke after a week of wearing it. Since they don't take mail order or phone calls or anything I had to wait a year to go back and get my bracelet fixed. I waited in line for about 25 mins and the women that worked at the shop are pretty snotty and rude. When we got in I told them I needed my bracelet fixed and they fixed it for free BUT they were very argumentative and rude about it. I don't understand why they are like that. So happy I came here during my vacation! I had heard all about Eden for years, and never took the time to go when I am down the Cape. This vacation I did, and I am very excited about my new purchases! Eden Hand Arts is located in Dennis and it is very hard to find (if you type the address into your GPS, it will bring you to the correct address, but confusing to find parking!). In front of the big house on the lot, there is a small parking lot with about 6 spaces. To the right of that small lot, near the entrance of the shop, there is another small lot with 4 spaces on the main road. BEHIND the big house, down Lords Road on the right, there is another lot with about 10-15 spaces for cars. It sounds like there is ample parking, but this place is very popular and gets busy fast! I recommend going about 15 minutes before the shop opens in order to secure parking, as you will get ticketed on the road. On their website, you can reserve tickets to go into the shop, however they were sold out by the time I went to go snag one for myself. On the bright side, they have a "onesy" line where if you know what you want, you can wait in line, without a ticket, and purchase ONE item. The salesperson will fit you to make sure you have the right size bracelet! The only downside is you cannot browse the items in the shop so you have to know what you want. Make sure you have a check or cash with you!!!! They do not take credit or debit cards, which is a total bummer. They also do not post pictures or the cost of their items on their website so I went into this totally blind, but very happy in the end! I would definitely recommend bringing a check over cash if you don't know how much the item you want costs. If you don't have a checkbook, I would bring at least $250 just to be safe. Their bracelets seem to run under that price, but you also have to factor in tax :) Great place! I am so happy I went and I am very excited about my new bracelets. Having gone to the Cape for summer vacation for a few years I now try to make a stop at Eden a yearly adventure. My first Cape Cod bracelet was purchased in P-town, 8 years ago. I still love it and have never removed it but I didn't realize the story of the family making the original screwball in Dennis until a few years ago. I went to the website and followed the instructions last year and am thrilled with my bracelets. The shop is small but with lots to see and choose from. After getting in you have your own salesperson who gladly measures and fits you for anything you're interested in. Yes there are rules but I feel it's part of the experience, not an irritation. You need to plan your trip, be ready to wait a bit, have cash or check only but you'll be thrilled with your purchase. My daughters and I each have 2 Eden originals now and receive compliments frequently. The bracelets are a daily reminder of the beauty of the Cape and memories of moments shared together. Just came back from a quick weekend in Cape Cod. I love small stores which carry unique and recognizable items and Eden definitely has beautiful and amazing jewelry. Right now, August of 2010, Eden is swamped with customers and towards the end of summer, they have sold out a lot of ring sizes and other things. I arrived before the store opened after having read that they were now using a ticket system. There are 2 kinds of tickets, "outside" tickets allow only those who know exactly what they want to speak to a few associates in the line outside the shop and you can purchase the items there. They will still hand measure you and bring out the size for you to try, but you have to know exactly what you want which is hard considering they have no catalog of what they offer anywhere. An "inside" ticket will let you go into the store to see what they offer. I went to pick up a ticket on Saturday morning. I was told that the "inside" tickets were all given out and the next available inside tickets were for the following Thursday. I was only able to get an outside ticket for that afternoon and had to come back from between 1-4:30pm. The woman in the outside line in front of me and then my friend were both unable to buy the screwball rings as they had sold out of so many sizes. They had no 7s or 8s available. The beauty of their pieces and their individual attention makes the madness bearable. The prices are very reasonable and several of the places around the Cape sell copies of their pieces which cost either more than the original, or are just barely cheaper than the real deal. Personally, I would much rather buy the original. The waiting, ticketing, and the other quirks make for a great story when telling people how you bought your piece of jewelry. I will definitely be going back...but only at an off season time. As another reviewer mentioned, bring a lot of cash or a check since they do not accept any other method of payment. read more

This place had me outfitted in cape cod jewelry growing up. I grew out of it in high school, mostly because I was sick of the mixed metals from my youth, but rediscovered it in college, when I missed my summers on the cape. I recently went back there and purchased a little graduation gift for myself (the fish ring with a golden eye) although some of the styles have morphed a bit, this is the original, tried and true. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The inside of most pieces has the little Eden symbol. Be sure to take care of your silver if you're a swimmer, though, it can tarnish. The prices are reasonable for handcrafted, local jewelry. The customer service is wonderful. Don't purchase any of the other "cape cod bracelets" elsewhere. This is their design and they do it best. You can certainly find it elsewhere for a bit cheaper (sometimes a bit more, even!) but don't do it. Just, don't. In the summer, be prepared to wait in line. I have 2 bracelets and I LOVE them. Everyone in my family has jewelry from Eden, even the little kids! It is the only place to get the REAL Dennis Screwball and they have many other cute cape cod themed jewelry. Some advice to everyone complaining about tickets....do you know about the side line? if you go to the side of the building they have sales people waiting where you can buy jewelry without a ticket and without actually going inside. The catch is that you need to know what you want. If you are trying to decide between 2 they will bring those out but they wont bring out 5 different bracelets for you. My advice is to look at other people in line while you wait to figure out what you want. There will be people there who go year after year and have 10 bracelets on their wrists! so ask them about their bracelets and they will be happy to tell you, that way you can figure out what you want without going in the store. Also get there about 20 minutes before it opens. Sometimes they open early and if no one is there yet with tickets they will let you in. I also suggest getting dropped off because there is little parking. Its a complicated process but so worth it and the exclusivity is part of the experience! It really does bond people from all over, people always recognize my bracelets and tell me about theirs that they got from Eden. Its a family run business so be patient and try to get a ticket ahead of time if you know what week you will be summering in the cape. have fun! read more
