It is the best middle school in my life my kids love it and they say they never want leave

As a parent, I'm extremely disappointed in how Ed Willkie Middle School handles student matters especially when it comes to respecting boundaries and parental rights. My 8th grade son was recently involved in a situation where the assistant principal Mr. Bracamontes not only slammed his hand on a table and yelled continuously at him with no witness present but also accessed and duplicated content from my child's personal cell phone without my consent, knowledge, or notification from either parent. No parent should find out after the fact that a school staff member recorded footage from their child's phone onto a personal device. This is a serious overstep and a violation of trust. Communication with parents was completely lacking, and the process felt more like intimidation than education. This kind of behavior should not be tolerated in any school setting. Encourage your students to speak up and talk about their treatment at school. read more

UPDATE: This school is making me brain dead and mentally ill. Please help. I think i wont make it here my nose almost got broken from a kid throwing a hockey stick after he tried to grab it and i just let him have it, then he all of the sudden threw it. I need help. read more

I went here from 6th-8th grade, and my time was not good. Aside from the fact that the teachers did nothing about bullying, and the school was infested with roaches, during the years I went there, the assistant principal was the worst. Mrs Warden was a 60 year old woman, however Mrs warden dressed like a 20 year old stripper. She wore shorts that were so short you could see her underwear, she wore fishnet stockings and very tall heels, and she often unbuttoned her shirt far lower than was appropriate. Looking over the staff list now, it doesn't seem like she is employed anymore, but the staff thought it was ok to have her around for years, and even let her dress code people while dressed like that. I find it highly inappropriate that she was allowed to dress like that in front of children. read more

If I could give a zero i would I'm a 7th grade student here and yea take a small grain of salt. This school is a zoo there is almost a fight everyday. The A.P Mr.Brac does not understand, and skips around the point. The principal him self is cool. The school's staff is just dumb. The school's food is mid, (I RATHER EAT SHIT) Ummmm, the school is really dumb with rules, For instance, I got a detention cuz i fast walked to the cafe, I almost got suspended for telling a kid to f off cuz he called my friend a fag. This school deserves a 1 star but I wish I could rate it lower. I am an eighth grader here and in my honest opinion, it has been the worst. I've been bullied constantly and I always tell an adult, like we are told to do in that situation. They don't do a thing! The food is crap. Actually, it's worse. I'd rather eat literal s**t. None of the staff, except for maybe a couple of teachers, help with anything. Don't go here. read more

This is a great middle school. My daughter has really thrived after our moving from a different city last year. We were concerned about her starting a new grade at a new school, but her teachers were very supportive. We look forward to the coming year. read more

This school is great but I wish it had less work and education so yeah 1 star. The teachers are great but they give us homework. The pizza is overpriced. And are principal is amazing. But most of all I have it 1 star for the no more celebration read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I will let everyone on every social media platform I can know about the school that allows awful things to happen to their students. My daughter was bullied for the past 2 years she went there. We contacted the principals both years told them about the awful things the physical and mental abuse my daughter was going through. I contacted the ISD spoke to a man named Bobby that was over student services, he pawned me back off on the principals that did nothing per the handbooks definitions of bullying my daughter was suffering through this daily and everyone refused to take it seriously. She missed classes, days at school due to the environment of threats and fear. This is not productive to a successful educational process, and instead of encouraging my daughters her teachers took a not my problem attitude. The one person that seemed to care was Mr. Driver too bad he couldn't actually do anything about it. The isd prints a handbook wants to pick and choose the parts they enforce. The person over student services could care less about the children he is supposed to be working to protect and teach. This school at times reminds me of the old movie animal house, kids having sex in the bathrooms, food fights and then the bullying. If you can't depend on administrators to do something about the school they are supposed to run who do you turn to? Disappointed doesn't begin to cover it. I'm a very involved parent I hate to think of the kids going through this alone with parents that are absent.... they have no one in the their corner. read more
