The area is new to me and I very much enjoyed some of the shops.I am a guy who at one time only had experience eating in South Central Los Angeles, East Los Angeles, Long Beach and the Hub Cities. I do love these cities and I am happy to experience new unfamiliar places like Atwater Village and Silver Lake. Molly was there to kindly greet everyone, guide the children to complete task and behave, teach craft and chat with the adults. I enjoyed being in her class and I enjoyed seeing my little nephew complete his project. You can tell Molly has experience and education working with young children. On the walls we saw paintings and various drawings made by children. We did an Autumn seasonal craft project with paper, wooden wreaths, glue and various other decorative items. They have no-meter warning on Sunday, all other days there is a 2 hour maximum at a meter which can be paid by quarters or credit card, I do not think they accept EBT. Plenty of parking that day and other parking available if you are willing to walk. There is a garden area out back with rocks and a bench and the sun and air flowing in. I enjoyed the experience very much so as did many of the people I met there. I think the price range is fairly reasonable for the uptown people of this affluent area though maybe not for this downtown kind of guy. I do plan to come back in this area and I would highly recommend this place to any Hipster parents who want to keep children entertained for a while and want to help develop their children's vital skills.

The facility is bright, clean and well maintained. As a parent who attended top colleges and has both degrees in Fashion and Studio Art; I was impressed by the quality of the teachers. Immediately noted these detailed classes: Color Theory Charcoal drawing Full size painting area with large easels In house Ceramic Kiln Fabricated projects And a lot more. I'm enrolling my daughter in the after school program. Looking forward to seeing her progress. They have a trial pass use it.

It offers art classes for all ages, though I suspect most of its students are kids. My six-year-old Leo B. has become something of a regular, and he absolutely loves the place. For my part, I appreciate that there's always a camp available when I need it, sometimes even at the last minute. Popular classes sell out (if you want an anime/Pokémon/Hello Kitty kind of week, get on it), but most don't seem to reach capacity. There are camps for pretty much every school break, including one-day camps for various holidays. Parking is easy, as are drop-off and pick-up. Leo did one day camp last year, then two weeks of summer camp last month. He's a fairly shy kid, and was only willing to sign up because he had friends from school who would be with him. I was pleasantly surprised when he requested to come back for a second week this summer, knowing he wouldn't have any friends in that class. Artist Lab has different themes for each week, and he went for under the sea and pop art. There were different teachers rotating in and out, and to be honest, I never really talked to any of them, though they all seemed quite nice. I dealt with all the administrative stuff through text and email and enjoyed getting photo updates in the text thread. Leo had fun every day, and came home with all kinds of artwork that we're now stuck with until all parties are willing to get rid of them. He made sculptures and paintings and even sewed a little fish. I also liked that he got to learn a little about pop art after a somewhat difficult visit to the Tate Modern earlier in the month. I'm sure we'll be back to Artist Lab next summer, and possibly earlier. Leo will ask for it, and before long, his brother will want in on the action.

I was certainly moved by many of the works and I wish I lived closer to this art gallery so I can see it everyday! I loved that the art is from a variety of creatives and promotes a variety of voices! Additionally, there's paintings, eccentric art, food art, photography, wood, and so much more! I HIGHLY recommend visiting. Oh and guess what? It's FREE, that's right you don't pay a thing! I'd pay to see this, it's that beautiful here. I cannot get over the value of the art, this was a priceless experience. The gallery is also very spacious and clean. There's a restroom and front desk for any questions. The gallery is also located in the central part of the Barnsdall Park and is easily accessible. I didn't like the staff, most of them are extremely awkward or rude. No "hellos" here, just angry faces and stuffy staff. However, don't let them deter you, think of the value and how amazing the experience is and you'll be fine! :)

I had sprained my left ankle, so I called BAC's main office to notify them & the young man who answered coordinated security to find me on the premises & called an ambulance. Fast forward to today, I was notified that my Fall Class registration was flagged & I would not be allowed to register until Winter. I called the same office that helped me before and was greeted by a rude receptionist that refused to make an exception for my Fall class registration. Suffice it to say, I will never be attending BAC again or supporting their events from this day forward. This is a warning to anyone that has dealt with this organization.

We watched the demonstrations and proceeded to taping and soldering the glass pieces. Everything we needed was provided including safety supplies such as glasses, heat gloves, and masks. The instructor was very knowledgeable and gave detailed demonstrations. She was balancing doing something in another room. I wished she went around to check on each person, but we could hail her over when we had questions. We learned during the event that the metal used for soldering is made of 40% lead. I definitely hung the finished piece away from pets and children. And we wash our hands every time it's touched. Sign up on their website. They can't be contacted via phone. When I needed to reschedule the class, I did not receive responses to my email or website query. So we went in person to make the schedule change. The event was a ton of fun! The design of our pets captured their essence very well. Great activity to do together with a group of people if you can afford it and like crafting independently in an intro class.

Restaurants which used to be filled with families every weekend now slowly find themselves closing earlier and earlier. The strong community that once was is slowly starting to age out and be pushed out. Luckily, there are new businesses finding roots in this part of Los Angeles and Element Art Center is a great example of how arts and crafts can bring life back to a community. After making a reservation for one of their classes and being let into the building you can look around and see how much of this space is made for building, crafting, and designing. With classes spanning from ceramics to stained glass it is a safe space to let your creativity run wild or be instructed. The instructors are young and teach in a way that welcomes questions without judgment. They encourage your creativity but also provide gentle direction along the way. With supplies provided if you are a novice learning a craft it is an artistic adventure without the cliff falls of expenses weighing you down. If you take their classes that last a few weeks or a month it also gives you access to come and go to create at your own pace. Element Art Center is a wonderful time whether you're doing a solo trip or being social with others. This is the kind of business that bring traffic to a neighborhood and help sustain it. Hopefully, more spaces for art will pop down the line in Chinatown but for now, it's fantastic we have Element Art Center to hold it down.
