Were so looking forward to visiting Ecusta in their new location on Ecusta Rd. Nice venue, former paper mill. The experience today was not so nice. Sat at the corner of the bar. The two beer tenders were working back and forth. I had to ask...are we invisible? I stated we want to taste your ipa's. Beer tender says we offer only two tastes per person. I said great! We are two people and you have four ipas! This is bush league crap. We've been to over a hundred breweries up and down the east coast and this was only the second brewery to pull that crap. You can taste all you want at Oskar Blues, Sierra Nevada or any of the great breweries in Asheville like Burial. We want to taste before buy, not sit there and do tastings in a tiny cup and leave. I asked a beer tender about a beer that had "southern hops" btw, I make beer. Anyway he says hops grown in the south. I asked what are the names. He pulled a Can and comes back and says Simcoe etc. I had to laugh. Anyway, to summarize: taste limit to two per person, disinterested and uninformed beer keepers, beer just ok. Major disappointment. We'll scratch this brewery off of our go to list. We won't be back. read more

Ecusta brewing is a quant little brewery in Brevard near hiking routes. The bartender was extremely friendly and gave us great recommendations on beers to taste. The environment was wonderful; we sat outside near the river which was great! I got a flight with First Decent, Haze Me, Single Track, and Pink Beds sour. The Haze Me and Single Track were by far our favorites out of the flight while First decent was our least favorite. Pink beds was a good sour. Well worth a visit if you're in Brevard! read more

I would say Ecusta was my second favorite brewery in Brevard next to Oskar Blues. We visited all 4 on our trip. Very clean and nice small outdoor area by the river to sit. Waitress at the bar was very friendly and helped us pick our flight which was good. I am not a beer aficionado but there were some tasty options. Also due to the casual and less of a bar-like atmosphere of my kids join without an issue. Would take the time for a visit. read more

This review is completely based on the service. Sadly I can not speak to the quality of the beer. This summer I've been supporting craft breweries - buying singles, special releases, and merch (glasses, shirts, stickers, etc). While planning a trip to Brevard with social distancing in mind, I wanted to select local breweries with to-go mix packs or singles and had merch for sale. This way I could try a range of craft beers, take some home, and support independent breweries during the pandemic. Several weeks prior to the trip, Ecusta posted mix packs of four different beers. I messaged them to ask if they'd have this option the first week of August. I was told they would. So, of all the breweries to choose from in the Brevard & Highlands area, Ecusta was one of three I put on my schedule. I went yesterday. They were out of to-go cans. I spoke with Phil, who said they would be canning tomorrow (today). I told Phil that I was only in town for a few days and could come back tomorrow (today) and that I was interested in the mix pack of four singles. He said they could do that for me. I told him I'd be back around 3:00. He said to let the person working to know I spoke with him. Today, I walked in at 3:00. Cans were available! I asked about the mix pack of four advertised on social media. I was told they couldn't do that. I explained I had spoken with Phil yesterday about it. I was told he was mistaken. I explained the situation more. I was told to get crowler or six and four packs (i.e. more money). Perturbed, I left. So, despite the confirmation earlier while planning the trip and the discussion with Phil, Ecusta wouldn't sell a mix pack of single beer or simply a bunch of singles. And I was ready to drop cash on the beers and merch. Very disappointed. I hope the beer is better than the service. PS: This is not a knock on Phil. Such a nice ambiance for after a recreational activity. Ample seating inside and outside. A great variety of different beers on tap. They let you do a flight of 4 beers at a time for $10. This place was very busy on a Friday night. You bus your own tables so things move fairly quickly. This place was recommended by a few people in town, hubby was excited to try it out, so we went...Family of 5, spent around $100, wish I had my money back. The building was beautiful, hubby said the beer was good. The food was just ok. Pretty much tasted like Mexican fast food... warmed up rice, wings were not crispy, fries were drowned in queso, guacamole was not good. If you want chips or salsa, it's extra. Extra salsa? It costs extra. Canned drinks only, no refills. And make sure you grab the right drink or you'll get yelled at by staff. Everything is serve yourself, buss your own table. We were excited to try their new location! Upon arrival we were impressed with the building, but were immediately met with a large sandwich board full of "Rules". Everything from warnings about unattended children and pets and notes about cleaning up and respecting others. For us, it, for lack of a better word, "killed the vibe". Before we even walked into the establishment, we were met with a list of rules about how we were to behave. There was even a statement on the board that said "You are not our only guest!" Wow. What a way to greet your customers. In my experience, anyone in customer service should treat every customer as if they are top priority-not remind them that they aren't. We will say the food was fantastic and the guy working the kitchen was extremely friendly and jovial. To be completely honest, the vibe at Oskar Blues is much more laid-back whereas Ecusta seemed to be extremely uptight and quiet. Great front porch, fantastic food, good beer selection, but not yet a laid back vibe at all. Hope they relax a bit over time. read more

Hands down this was my favorite of the three breweries in the area. They had a nice variety of beers on tap. The staff is knowledgable & you can taste before purchasing if you are undecided. They offer a choose your own flight - choose the 4 beers you want to try & get a short pour of each. The Pink Beds Sour is one of the best sours I've ever had. Love the beers here, always a good stop when in Brevard. Was surprised to find yesterday that neither bartender was wearing a mask.

Very poor experience three days ago. Allow me to start with the positives: my wife and I stopped by after work for a few beers. The beer was good, the bartenders were very very nice. Great customer service, very attentive. The music was good (just the radio) and loud (I usually expect that in a brewery). They had a dart board, and I put some music on from my iPhone whilst I played with my wife. Readers, if you have an iPhone you know the speakers suck. That's why when you want to listen to something intently on it, you cup the end. My iPhone was just on the table. After about 15 minutes, a guy walks up to me from across the room telling me to turn my music off. He didn't ask, he told me. And he never introduced himself (that's important, I'll explain shortly). I apologized, sat down with my wife, and discussed how rude this jerk was. I couldn't let it go, so I approached his table after I turned my phone back on. I then asked him to please explain to me how he could hear my phone when I'm right there, and I can't hear it. He then proceeds to tell me that other people complained that it was a noise, like static. I asked him to clarify why people would be going to him, and not ask me to turn it down/off. He then proceeded to tell me because he's the owner. The owner! Well, the owner could take some lessons from his bartenders in customer service. Perhaps my phone was too loud (I sincerely don't see how it was heard over the loud music), and if I was approached differently, like "hey, my name is jerk, I'm the owner of this establishment, I've had a complaint, I'm sorry man, but can you turn the phone down/off, I'm just trying to keep the peace", or something like that, but evidently, customer service speak isn't in his repertoire. Maybe it was because he was drinking with his friends at that table, and felt he needed to throw his weight around. I don't know, I don't care. I do know that when you have a new business, you better treat your customers like human beings.... Paying human beings at that. The funny part is I'm a biker, and my biker group of about 150 folks enjoy scouting out new breweries. Well, we won't be going there. My suggestion: go to Peaks and Creeks/ UpCountry brewing. Great beer, fantastic customer service. You've got to check out Triskelion brewery. Outstanding beer only upstaged by the amazing staff and owners who make you feel like family when you walk through the door. read more

I so want to give this brewery a 5. But the two women behind the bar killed the experience. We were a group of 5 coming in after pickle ball. One person in our group asked for a third taste to decide what beer she wanted. The bartenders said we only allow 2 taste per person. So okay, if it's crowded with long lines I can understand this policy. But it was not crowded at all on a Sunday at 4pm. What a turn off. I told the bartender I asked for no tasters so give her mine. BTW the tastes are hardly a tastes. And we all orders 3+ beers plus food, so we weren't there to get our fill of free beer in the form of tastes. Really people. Your beer was good, the experience of the bartenders killed it for us. There is no lack of breweries in this area. I hope you can figure out how to treat their customers or they can just go down the road and find just as good beer if not better with a customer service flare that says I am happy you are here! read more

Plain, simple atmosphere and uncomfortable picnic bench seating. While I enjoyed the cider beer that was from Urban Orchard and the small food that was from another location, nothing seemed to really stand out at this brewery. Interesting place and set up so my review is partial the brewery and partial the food truck that was on the sidewalk outside the door offering food options. The beer was good, reasonable, and staff friendly. I was surprised to see they offered wine which is nice as I've been to a brewery with non beer drinkers before so it's a nice alternative adult option. The place is very kid friendly which I don't have a high opinion of because a bar/brewery is a place I don't want kids running around screaming like they are at a public park and that's exactly what it was like. Over all the vibe did actually seem more like a public park that served beer because it was very laid back and free flowing with indoor and outdoor seating that runs from one to the other which is pretty cool if parents would control their kids (which is the parents fault not the establishment's) They do offer flights which I always love to see anywhere. The catering/food truck,Olive,that was servicing the patrons of the brewery was a surprising good find. I had just popped in for something light and a drink before an event at the college so I had the smoked trout dip and a beer. The smoked trout dip was great! A lot Better than some I've had at high end restaurant paying 13+$ for and theirs was only 6 or 7$ I believe And was at least a third amount larger than most orders and was served with bred not crackers. I saw a couple items on their menu I would certainly like to try if in the area again. read more

Ecusta may be the best brewpub in the Brevard area. All the beers are flavorful, and the prices reasonable. Most of the barkeeps give a good pour, and all are friendly. Nicely furnished place. People are allowed indoors or out. Dogs are allowed outside, with a good view of the Davidson River. On the other side of the bbq place, Dahlia's serves excellent food. Their grilled cheese on sourdough is the best we've ever had! read more

I wish I was more into IPAs because maybe I would have liked this place better, but unfortunately none of their beers really did it for me. All of the beers I tried tasted a little too similar and were all fairly hoppy. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and this place was not very busy at all, which seemed a little strange. I will say that the space was cool, lots of great wood and had a great pub feel. However, no one was terribly welcoming - maybe it was an off day. This is my favorite place to grab a beer In Brevard. Delicious beer at a fair price. They have a decent selection for a smaller place. The inside is well decorated and fits the area well. The crowd comes and goes but is always mellow. The bartender is always nice and is happy to carry on a conversation or leave you to enjoy your beer in solitude. You choose. Like all bars in Brevard, I'd love to see a live band here. I'd like to see them do what frog level brewery in Waynesville is doing on Friday nights. Live music sells beer and brings.
