This review is overdue. Two years ago after moving into a new house, I called LD. One of their…read moredecorators came over. I purchased shades for a bedroom, bathroom and dining room and drapes for a huge expanse of glass in my living room as well as another window. Maya the decorator was very helpful with color selection and choosing shades. For the drapes, I had done a lot of research and put in a lot of thought and she came up with a very nice fabric choice for the side drapes panels when I visited the store after her visit. The quote was very very expensive but I was expecting that. When the installer came and he began putting up the rods that I had chosen it became apparent that they had had something made that was not even close to what I had repeatedly described and indeed shown pictures of. Not only did they have to be re-made, putting up the wrong hardware left huge damage to my freshly done walls meaning that further money was going to have to be spent. The owner of the store kept telling me how nice he was being by not charging to have the curtains remade. I laughed at him. (My total bill was about $12,000). This review was precipitated by my experience this week. The hems fell out of my very expensive, supposedly top of the line drapes. I called and spoke to the owner. He refused to even look up my account, I had to wait for a call back from my decorator (I dealt with him directly at purchase multiple times and it's a small store). Maya sent the installer who removed the curtains, they got re-hemmed and he hung them today. I also got a bill from the owner with written in capital letters TWO YEARS OLD, NOT UNDER WARRANTY. He did write off the $315 dollar charge, writing that it was a one time courtesy. It's well he did because I had no plans to pay as no cost was mentioned upfront, drapes shouldn't fall apart just hanging on a window in a formal, seldom used living room (they have been opened or closed maybe half a dozen times in two years, my living room faces a woodsy park and privacy is not of concern.) I found dealing with this store and specifically the owner stressful at every turn. He has nice stuff but the prices are high, with my recent hem problem I have to at least question the quality, and the attitude could use a lot of improvement. He's not giving anything away, a high end local store that's charging top dollar should provide friendlier more personalized service at the very least (I will mention that the installer Mark and the decorator Maya are lovely, it's the owner). He seems to feel that he's doing one a great favor for providing what he's getting paid top dollar for.
