Previously, we took the Freda B on the Wildlife Morning Sail in 2024, which was also fantastic. What makes the Freda B special is the crew. The vessel itself is gorgeous--even the "head" is great! From the moment you board and are greeted by the crew, you know you're in good hands. The safety instructions are thorough, and the crew immediately puts you at ease before setting off. Whether you have a clear night or a little fog (like tonight), the skies are beautiful, the Golden Gate Bridge is magical, and San Francisco twinkles in the distance. The crew meets your every need with kindness, excellent service, and genuine interest in you as a passenger. They're also an interesting bunch--just ask them about themselves! Hot (chocolate!) and cold beverages are available for purchase, including adult beverages. For out of towners...Wear and bring layers. Jacket + sweater/fleece, long pants, beanie hat, gloves if you have them. Blankets available onboard. This is SF Bay 12 months a year - always chilly and the sail is worth every layer of clothing. We celebrated my birthday tonight, and it was perfect. Thank you!

An excellent introduction to both neighborhoods and their culinary offerings along with many historical sites and background. A family owned and run business that truly treat their customers like one of their own. I had one complaint about missing the fortune cookie factory and the owner Tom called me personally to resolve it. Later in our visit we went on our own to the fortune cookie factory and it was really not anything much to be concerned about missing. If you have never been to San Francisco or even if you have been before this is a fantastic introduction or re-introduction to what makes this city unique. I forgot to mention that you should come hungry, there's plenty of food along the trip!

It was fun being tourists for the day even though we are Bay Area natives. Our tour guide was Andre and he was very knowledgeable and kept our group of 10 engaged. Not only did he explain the history behind the places we stopped by, he showed us the beauty of San Francisco. The food was great and I was stuffed by the end of the tour. From what I recall, we sampled sesame balls, dim sum, roasted duck and sautéed green beans, fortune cookies, lots of tea from a local tea shop, Italian sandwiches, cannolis, gelato, and pizza. I forgot to take pics of the food but I'll have to say my favorite was the salami sandwich from Molinari.

My husband bought the tickets online to the ferry that would bring us to Angel Island where we can watch the fireworks. Luckily public parking was half a mile from the ferry, we brought a cart to put in our chairs, blankets, snacks and pizza that we got from one of the nearby businesses. The crew was nice, helpful and efficient especially when loading the ferry with customers and holding people and ancillary staff. They were very accommodating with people needing assistance with their canes, walkers, and other passengers were kind enough to help accommodate those who needed seating most. Great experience, quick trip to the island, and we had fun with the kids.

I called their hotline and left a voicemail the day of (1 hour before take off). We then get their 30 minutes before, I run down and hassle a crew member, and they say we can just rebook you. No doubt, the person checking our tickets said, okay, I can just rebook you. 45 seconds of swiping and he got us set up. This level of going over the top for customer satisfaction is beyond compare. Lisa was an excellent guide--knowledgeable, personable, and attentive to the interests of our group. She shared interesting background on Japantown and was happy to go into greater detail with anyone who had questions. She also highlighted shops and other spots we might want to return to on a future visit, including a few that happened to be closed that day. We especially appreciated the flexibility of the tour. Edible Excursions was willing to adjust portions of the planned itinerary to include some specific things our group was interested in trying, which made the experience feel more personalized. I also learned more about their North Beach tour from Lisa, and the itinerary sounds distinctive compared with other tours I've arranged in the past. Based on our Japantown experience, I would definitely consider booking another tour with them. Highly recommended!

And it couldn't have been a better decision. We took the North Berkeley Tour and Justin was our guide (who I very highly recommend). Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable about the history of all the delicious food we enjoyed, but he was also so personable and easy to talk to. It really felt like we were getting an insider's view of the area. And of course, the selection of food we had was diverse and amazing too (all of it). The best advice I can give to someone who would like to book this tour is to bring your appetite because you will not be hungry when it's over. In fact, by the time we got to our last stop for cupcakes, we were all so full that we just took them to go. I'm still amazed that we were able to visit so many different places in such a short distance. Many of the foods I tried were new to me but I think it's safe to say I've now discovered some new favorites and will definitely be back. Oh, and for those who like to shop, we passed a few cute places along the way too. This really was a fun experience and a wonderful way to spend the day!

One May Saturday, the Mr. and I rented a kayak to paddle around Lake Merritt... and by "rent", I mean it was National Boat Safety Week and they were doing free 30 minute rentals, so we decided it was the best time to do it. On our way back to the car, we were approaching a luxury shuttle bus in the parking lot. The lady overheard us making comments on a party bus, so she gave us a flyer on what exactly the "party" was for... "The Spirit of West Oakland Tour" brought to you by ECC. The Mr. and I said we wanted to hop on the bus to "check it out". I think it was the COLD AC and soft leather seats that sold him. For me, it was the $20 cover charge and because I'm spontaneous and random like that. We found our seats in the back where cute goody bags filled with pamphlets, snacks, water, "stunna" shades, stickers, granola bars, etc. waited for us. There was about 10 -12 of us on the bus... first taking turns introducing ourselves. I was surprised to learn that only a few were Oakland/Bay Area natives. Well, I guess it's not that surprising if you think people don't usually "tour" their hometowns... but I'm so glad I did. First Stop: Beastmode Store. We were welcomed by the staff giving us an intro and some info on how their family-owned and run shop works for the community. We even got a surprise visit from Marshawn Lynch who stopped by to say hi to his family before skirting off in a Tesla. Next: Everett and Jones BBQ in Jack London Square. They had plates pre-made for us: 2 pc chicken, beans and potato salad... FOR FREE! Yes, folks... they fed us for free. Don't forget to tip! Then: We were off down 7th Street all the while getting a history lesson on the richness of the now almost abandoned neighborhood. Then to the Port of Oakland. Were we had great waterfront views among giant Star Wars-inspired cranes and dodging piles and piles of goose poop... few photo ops and a mimosa toast. I said it - free mimosas! Cheers to Oakland! Lastly: We made our way to a park (forgot the name) where we were met by none other than award winning line dancing queen - Chocolate Platinum. Aw man, was she entertaining af! She taught us a few moves, and by no time, we were line dancing away! I have to say, it was the best $20 I ever spent! The people were great. Letitia was awesome. Ultimately, I think what this organization is doing is great! Great for the community. Great for preserving and teaching the history of Oakland. Very educational. I love it!
