He told me that I was naive, and that I "didn't know anything about anything when I first met him." He also called my professor dumb. When I said that I didn't think my professor was dumb, he insisted that he was. He also asked if my family was crazy, told me that I wasn't going to make it through chemistry if I didn't remember what he told me, said that the best that he could see me getting in chemistry was a D, told me that I could say goodbye to medical school if I failed chemistry, told me that I could become white washed if I didn't remember my culture, said that his students made "stupid mistakes on tests," and told me that my family member said I would be dumb if I didn't follow his advice. (Even though that didn't sound like something that my family member would say, and she later confirmed that it wasn't). He was also charging me $300/week, which seems like too much to me. I have since learned that I did not need him to succeed, and neither do you. I was able to pass the rest of my general chemistry courses and continue preparing for my medical school application while receiving kind and ethical approaches from the free tutoring services at my college. Even now, I don't remember everything that Dom told me about chemistry, and I am still just as capable as I was then. Students deserve to be treated with respect and encouragement. Due to the reports of others and myself, Dom is no longer able to have tutoring services at my university, and I feel that is for the emotional, academic, and financial safety of students. Additionally, my former organic chemistry professor informed my class to report messages from him if sent out to EWU students again. Now, the best that I feel I can do is warn others because I am genuinely concerned for students.

If you don't mind paying thousands of dollars to basically teach yourself how to drive a CMV with…read moresafety and mechanical issues, Drive 509 is the place for you! Every truck we got in had something wrong with it. ABS systems and parking brakes malfunctioning, lights burned out, broken steps, broken heaters/defrosters, wheels locking up on trailers, and the clutches almost gone on most of the trucks, just to name a few things! But the biggest issue for us by far was the lack of proper instruction and care. All of the questions we asked the owner, Jason, were either avoided, dismissed, or answered with, "you don't need to know that right now" or "you need to figure it out for yourself". Another real concern is they dont bother to have students perform important safety steps (such as an air brake test) before heading out on the road. When I aked why this isn't required at 509 Jason said, "we do not have time for safety tests on drives". Yet, he makes every student take the time to fill out an accident report if they hit a cone. Ridiculous and utterly unhelpful! It is clear that making/saving money is the priority for Jason. He made it apparent that neither safety, nor the concerns of students matter to him. When our class tried to discuss with Jason our frustrations, struggles, and the lack of instruction leaving us feeling Ill-prepared for testing, he became angry, told us we were negative, threatened to kick us out of his school, and told us we were "spitting in his face" because this was his buisness that we were badmouthing. I feel like our concerns were pretty legitimate. Like the fact that our instructor had only been an instructor for two days and his inexperience made learning -even the basics- difficult. Despite being really nice, he gave us a lot of misinformation. We told this to Jason. His response: "he is a good CDL instructor because he teaches taiquan do". Jason, told us that he, himself, had not taught a class in over two years and that pass rates were down because of this. The mechanic told us, "good luck passing the B to A exam in only two weeks!! The pass rates are super low for you guys!", and then took us to a stripped out truck and laughed while he poorly explained where *some* of the components *should* have been. While we appreciated his humor and honesty, we told Jason that this made us uneasy because these are all things students are expected to know for their state test and we couldn't learn like that. Again, Jason was dismissive. If you choose to come here, plan to learn basically everything on your own. Question what you are being told because not all of it is accurate, and be prepared to spend a fair bit of time standing in the cold/heat out in the yard, because there aren't enough trucks or instructors to go around. Overall, my classmates and I agree that we found it to be an extremely poor and frustrating experience. Good luck! Maybe y'all can find some place better to do your training, because this place sucks!

I was originally admitted to the University of Washington BASW program, but because the program is…read morehybrid and my employer could not accommodate the required in-person classes, I began looking for a fully online BASW. That led me to Eastern Washington University. While the Online BASW program itself is appealing, my admissions experience was unfortunately one of the most difficult I have encountered. After being admitted to EWU, I applied to the BASW program. From that point on, it often felt like the different departments were not communicating with one another. I was told multiple times that my official transcripts had not been received, even though another department had already confirmed they had been received. I found myself repeatedly providing screenshots of emails and confirming information that had already been given to me by EWU staff. The process felt disorganized, and I often had the impression that one department did not know what another department was doing. As a prospective transfer student trying to make an important educational decision, it was frustrating to spend so much time following up on information that should have already been available internally. There were positive experiences along the way. Al A. was knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely helpful. Denise A. was also courteous and assisted me with the admissions process. I appreciate the time they took to answer my questions. Unfortunately, those positive interactions were overshadowed by the overall lack of coordination. I never felt confident that my application was moving forward, and because my transcript evaluation continued to be delayed, I ultimately had to withdraw my application to avoid losing my place at another university. I believe EWU has a strong Online BASW program with great potential, but the admissions process would benefit greatly from better communication between departments, more consistent information, and a stronger focus on supporting prospective students. I hope my feedback helps improve the experience for future applicants.
