I randomly came upon The Cottage one day while driving, I stopped in and was greeted by Dana, the then owner, she was more than happy to give me a tour and introduce me to the teachers each of my children would have. I was instantly in love with the place, it is a school atmosphere, they don't just stick 20 kids in a room and let them go buckwild. Since then The Cottage has been taken over by new owners, Elle and Dustin, who are amazing and very diligent in dealing with any needs or concerns you have. The school has been recently renamed to The Cottage Education and Learning Acadamy, because it is more than just a daycare. Each class has curriculum type schedules, which include Science and Spanish, and parents are always informed of what is being worked on that particular week to keep it going at home. The teachers are amazing and always have the child's best interest at heart. If you are looking for the best school in the area, The Cottage is worth your time to stop and tour. Of course it costs a little more than your average day care, but isn't that the point, it isn't your average daycare! Children remember and learn the most in their youngest years and will carry their experiences with them forever, why not give them the best you can and you will find that at The Cottage!

No- not biting, hitting, any other behaviors you would expect would get your kid kicked out. Most frustrating is that there were never any formal meetings to even discuss the possibility that if these things weren't fixed, we'd be kicked out. We didn't see it coming and had to scramble to find new childcare. The behaviors she exhibited are normal 3-year-old behaviors that might take some kids longer than others to work through. I feel the staff is either stretched too thin or doesn't have the patience or energy needed to work with little learners of all levels. We felt extremely blind-sighted by this decision and heart-broken for our kids who now have to start somewhere else, leave their friends and learn new routines. It was already hard enough leaving our only kids in the hands of someone else, and now I'm facing a ton of anxiety all over again hoping this doesn't happen to us again and our kids won't be given up on as easily as Meadow Wood gave up on them. Before this happened, I did appreciate many things about this daycare. The Brightwheel app is convenient and they update you/post pictures of your kids throughout the day. During summer there were a lot of extra activities like field trips and a magic show. Some of the teachers were really nice to us (we saw some be pretty snippy with the kids at times though). We always knew about injuries via an incident report. Payment was easy. Lots for littles to do and different enrichment activities that matched the seasons. Open at 6:00AM for parents who need to get to work early. However, unless your kids are really good at sitting still, following routines, and don't cause a lot of problems for the staff in general, they might tell you to find somewhere else better suited to your child's needs and that they can't offer the 1:1 that your child needs because they have a lot of kids to watch already.

They have made my son feel comfortable and the transition was very easy. My son has attended now for almost 2 years. I don't even consider them a daycare anymore but an extended family. They have been such a blessing. My son loves his teachers. They diligently work with him on colors, numbers and ABCs. They have even gone above and beyond with helping him potty train. Kindergarten had plenty of academics as well to balance the play, and they taught Bible as well which I loved. They also offered extra curricular classes like Science and Art Club as well as Gymnastics--all during the school day. I didn't realize my daughter was going to learn Spanish too, which was a nice surprise! We loved Mrs. Cece and Ms. Susan for Kinder! The staff is very loving and caring under Mrs. Donna's leadership.

They even gave me a print out on proper instructions on how to do Corporal punishment. I'm against spanking. If you want your child to be physically restrained and grabbed when he or she is acting out then go here. We hired a professional behavioral specialist to monitor both the teachers and my son while going to the school, she was only allowed to go twice before they expelled him. I ask what are you hiding. They said that they were trained in behavioral Issues in children. My hired professional behavioral Specialist went to this school she stated none of the staff implemented or used any professional tactics against children with behavioral issues. In fact using any forms of violence against children who have behavioral and possible mental illnesses spark and trigger Children to react. We asked all the staff to please not put their hands on our child and they continued all the way up until the day that they expelled him. We are not saying our son is perfect. And we would have never taken our son to the school if they were not trained in behavioral corrections for troubled children. Our son has gotten worse since going here. Beware of the teachers grabbing and forcing children to mind. My son just turned 5.

One thing that really stands out about Kinder-Magic is how much they prioritize the emotional wellbeing of each child as well as the classroom community. The teachers are very intentional about helping the kids feel safe, supported, and confident. Our son also attends the afternoon supplemental classes, where he may be with Miss Amy, Miss Amanda, Miss P, or Miss Bernadette, and he adores them all. Every teacher we've encountered has been warm, thoughtful, and clearly loves what they do. After trying a few other places before this, it's such a relief to finally feel like we found the right fit. Our son comes home happy and excited to tell us about his day, which says everything. We're so grateful we found Kinder-Magic. This is a review of an actual experience at Montessori Central as a parent whose children attended…read morethe school over the course of four years. Montessori Central is a welcoming, nurturing place for all children. Young children learn about the world through hands-on, stimulating, colorful lessons they choose for themselves. I was repeatedly amazed at the things my children learned at such a tender age. One night before bed, when my oldest was four, I said, "I love you to the moon." My child, in a squeaky, little voice, replied, "I love you to the Democratic Republic of The Congo. That's very far!" Then she told me she loved me to the Crab Nebula. :) To this day, that's what we tell each other at bedtime, and she's 17. In terms of the love the owner has for children, I never saw anything to suggest that she or the other staff would single kids out based on ethnicity or nationality. The school does not "use" minority or immigrant children to teach American-born white kids about their culture. These kids are ages three to six. They are just learning to use the potty and eat lunch together. One of my daughters had a first best buddy who spoke no English when she started at Montessori Central. They played together and communicated through that play and through their laughter. Her mom and I became friendly and visited each other's homes while the girls played. We recently ran into that girl at a high school chess tournament; it was so sweet to see how both girls have grown. I will always be glad my kids attended Montessori Central. It is a fine place to give children a rich, warm, welcoming first experience at school. I would hope most people would take a one-star review based on quick judgement with a grain of salt. It was disheartening to stumble upon today while searching for something on Yelp, so I wanted to balance it with input from someone who actually experienced the school for more than 30 minutes.

We didn't end up choosing this place for our…read morechild, but we did a tour, etc. so I thought I'd review that process and get the info about the school more easily accessible. Also, I wanted to make it public that the person we interviewed with implied that she was happy to be serving more wealthy, white children, instead of the poor, brown children which she used to work with in her past. That was a major turn-off in our book. Granted this preschool is located in a more wealthy area of Spokane, and maybe she was trying to sell us on that, like "Oh, hey, it is fancy here" but it was just really off-putting. But, I hesitated to put it in the review, because maybe it was just an offhand misunderstood comment. I think we all say things sometimes that are misunderstood, but then I checked out their website.... and they have this nonsense... "We like to have children of minority races enrolled so that the children can learn about all people and how to exist together happily." So that, to me, was implying that "the children" are white kids, and it is just SO condescending. And that also implies that the "minority race" kids will be singled out to be teaching the other kids about their race. Just kind of weird to me. Anyways, save your time parents, and if you care about enrolling in a truly inclusive preschool I think not. Also this place was majorly expensive! Sept-June half day program was $4200, all day program $7600.
