When we arrived she offered him something to drink (just like they do when I come for my appointments) and I thought that was nice. She stopped plenty of times to ask my son how he was feeling about the way the cut was going and she asked for my input as well. Jordan ended up with a cut that still kept enough length that he was happy and the layering in the back has been perfect for me because his hair no longer turns into a matted mess each night with the accompanying brushing battle in the morning. The cut was more than I was paying previously in another city, but my impression is that Berkeley is just an expensive place and that competing shops are comparable or even pricier. So one works with what is available. Bottom line: On the whole, I thought this was pretty good. I will go back when I need a real haircut (vs. doing it myself).

I typically come away with a curly but heavy-looking cut, or a cut that looks bad after just a few weeks. I came to Terri for the dry Deva cut. She made some suggestions and checked with me multiple times to make sure I was ok with the quantity of hair she recommended removing. I was really comfortable with her advice and her expertise. And the result? Amazing! I look and feel totally adorable :) It's a light, bouncy, curly cut, which fits my personality perfectly. I'm really excited to look how I feel inside. Same impressions and would concur with many a reviewer who has taken the time to post. I am always uncomfortable with a stylist asking me to please pick out a photo of what I would like....If I'm the initiator of said process because I am the one seeking to be clear on a style, fine. We contacted Kim and she was so nice even over the phone. We got same day appointments. She listened to our needs and provided some great feedback. However, after the service, the stylist charged me $45 without explaining the additional charge. It made me wonder if she added a tip herself because she knew I was unhappy and would not be leaving one. If that was the case, it was not authorized. I had planned to get haircuts for both myself and my six-year-old daughter, as well as color my hair. My hair was waist-length, and I was excited to have it shaped into a V-cut with two long layers. I showed the stylist a reference photo, but she only glanced at it and did not take the time to confirm exactly what I wanted before she started cutting. She started cutting around chin level and removed much more length than I expected. Instead of the long, layered V-shape I requested, she left me with a much shorter, rounded/oval haircut that I did not want. Clear communication and a proper consultation are essential before making such a drastic change to someone's long hair. After seeing the damage caused by the haircut, I did not want to risk letting her cut my six-year-old daughter's hair or color my hair, so I canceled the remaining services. I left feeling extremely upset and disappointed. This ruined my plans to have my hair looking beautiful for our upcoming Disneyland trip. I was pleased…read moreto arrive today to find the salon very nice and relaxing, the music pleasant and the employees very friendly. I was offered a cup of green tea and treated to a wonderful shampoo by my stylist Camilla. I figured that since it was a freebie sort of thing I would get the minimum treatment but she really took her time and did a great job. She even blew out my rad frizzy mop so that I left with hair as soft, swingy and pretty as a girl in a shampoo commercial. I was very pleased and I will definitely be back!
