Echopark style of window sticker/spec sheet
    Sonja A.

It's that time where I have to start looking for a more reliable vehicle so my first stop was to Echopark to see what sort of inventory they had. I was impressed that the cars were sorted by manufacturer with the more luxury vehicles upfront, natch. I looked around and while many 2025 vehicles were on hand, they had extremely high mileage on them (some at 28k while others were up to 43k) with pricing still the same as new. I did find a Honda HRV at just over 4,500 miles. Echopark posts a spec list and shoppers scan a QR code to get further details about the vehicle, pricing and to set up a test drive. I tried the latter but never once got a sales rep to help. In fact, I never had the chance to actually speak with anyone. I walked the lot on my own, and no salesperson ever approached me, no simple greeting was made nor offering of any assistance. I left rather disappointed from that experience.

    2018 Toyota 4runner Limited

They lied straight to my face. They reached out to me wanting to buy my Toyota 4runner I had for sale locally in Fort Collins. We agreed 4-5 times that $29,600 was the price they were going to pay me when I arrived after driving the 3-4 hour round trip to them. Well, if you can imagine, the price we agreed upon suddenly changed to $28,000 once I got the car there. They are predatory and hoping I was going to be desperate enough to drop the price we agreed to $1600 after wasting all my time. I wasn't desperate enough for them to take advantage of me and drove the car all the back to Fort Collins. Now I feel the right thing to do Is to let everyone I can know not to do business with this shady dealership.

The sales staff at Echo Park, Centennial Colorado have earned yet another 1 star review. Looking at the track record, it seems as if this is how they've been trained to operate. I am stationed overseas and shopping for vehicles in the states. I have been doing this in one form or another since 2008. Since 2008 I have closed deals on multiple vehicles at dealerships across Texas as far away as Georgia. I even bought my house while I was overseas. I found this 2014 Nissan Xterra and the price was right and I was ready to bring my part to deal. I knew in advance that I would be the one responsible for moving the vehicle from Denver to San Antonio. On my first e-mail I received the one and only response from the sales staff. "We don't do that." I sent follow up emails, asking for options. It's important to understand that I was prepared to arrange for a trusted associate to travel to their location to do the paperwork on my behalf with a POA from my attorney. If that did not work, I was going to retain legal representation in Centennial to be present at the sale of the car. I sent many emails offering options that would allow the sale to be completed legally and with all manners of due diligence observed. The tone, or complete absence of any tone, from the folks in Colorado was jarring when compared to the super friendly and helpful website. Even an Echo Park Guest Experience representative in New Braunfels Texas contacted me and was very helpful. None of this made sense nor did it compare with past car buying experiences anywhere. None of this made any sense to me so I persevered and started the online application process to buy the car. I figured once they saw the preapproval from one of their in-network lenders that someone would finally call me back. I received approval on the Echo Park web page in less than 90 seconds. No one emailed or attempted to call. NO ONE. Not to say that the car was sold, the car was on contract, or that their policy strictly limited their ability to complete remote sales. The sale ended with an open pre-approval to purchase a car from Echo Park and no sale. This has never happened to me before. Every serious deal I have ever negotiated resulted in a completed sale. Every single car loan I have ever signed, paid on time and in full. In the end I can only conclude that the sales staff at Echo Park is so poorly trained that their management team does not trust them to initiate or complete remote sales correctly. They state that their policy is in place to prevent scams. Since they never contacted me nor attempted any due diligence in this matter, they would not be able to learn any facts about the buyer. Their current policy guarantees that they will continue to lose sales and that they have no interest in working with U.S. personnel employed overseas. If someone from the Echo Park executive management team would like to contact me regarding this experience. I am available.

Bottom line pricing and non-pressuring sales team was a real positive. I will be a returning customer.

And you would think for a dealership with a service dept on site they would diagnose and correct all of the problems before they sell the vehicles, but they don't. They either patch them up and hope you don't notice for two months or I have the worst luck in the world. The vehicle I bought myself ended up being in the shop for at least a month after I discovered it's issue. Thank God I found it a week before my warranty was up or I would have been on the hook for the $5,000 it cost to fix the problem. But it didn't come without a fight. It took the dealership two attempts to fix the vehicle. The first time they fixed the wrong thing, and when I told them I was still having the same issue they told me they weren't going to fix it. We eventually got on the same page and they took my vehicle for another two weeks and finally repaired it. For that I'm grateful. But now the vehicle I bought my grandmother had the check engine light come on. Mechanic comes out to give it a tune up and finds the spark plugs are covered in oil. Boom! It needs a new valve seals. My mechanic says "it looks like it's been this way for quite some time". I bought the car less than a year ago. Unfortunately the warranty has expired on this vehicle. So I'm on the hook for this one. I'm not saying don't buy a vehicle from this dealership. But I am telling you to take your car to a mechanic as soon as you drive it off of the lot to find any issues before your warranty expires. Because from my experience it doesn't seem to me like their service department has their customers best interests at heart.

I handled the financing from home too--filled out a quick form online and heard back within hours with a rate lower than anything I'd found shopping around myself. Once we found the car I wanted (a 2024 Mazda in perfect condition), wrapping everything up was incredibly easy. No hidden fees like you get at other dealers. The only time I had to visit their location was to pick up my car and sign a couple papers. This was my first time buying from H M Brown, but now I'm a customer for life.

Mind you I had no appointment, I just dropped in. So I told him what I was looking for in a jeep and he said to give him a little while and he would see what he could do. That same night he texted saying not only did he find one but that it had all the extras too and if I would be interested. I sure was. And to make a long story short he was able to get me the jeep of my dreams in about 48hrs of me coming in with no appointment. Macy and H.M. Brown really came through for me. It was an absolute dream to test drive (everything is nowadays compared to 15yr old "Brady"). Of course, the sticker shock set in once the taxes and fees were added, so I'm still debating any commitment. #ServiceStarShoutOut to Cornell, who was by far the best sales associate to approach us. He took the time to talk with us about the vehicle's features and warranty options without ever making us feel pressured. That statement was false and misleading. When I went to sell the car, I discovered that the DMV had recorded an accident on the vehicle a full year before I bought it. This misrepresentation cost me a $3,000 in lost value, verified by an auto broker who showed me recent comparable sales of nearly identical vehicles. When I raised this issue with CarMax, they refused to accept any responsibility or compensate me for any of the loss in value. CarMax heavily markets "peace of mind" and "transparency," but my experience shows those claims are hollow. If their employees can misrepresent a car's history and the company refuses to make it right, then buyers cannot trust the accuracy of anything they're told. Furthermore, do not rely on the CarMax vehicle inspection to uncover previous damage that would have been discoverable by a competent mechanic. Be certain to complete an independent pre-purchase inspection using a competent mechanic. CarMax misrepresented the vehicle I purchased, and their refusal to stand behind their word shows a lack of integrity. Buyers beware--you could be left with a car worth thousands less than you were led to believe.
