Took the easy route since we were staying here, beautiful location and views from this restaurant. My girlfriend was seated then I came in and they seated me across the restaurant, when we realized they put us together however they had asked if we wanted water, not knowing we both said yes then we had two very expensive bottles of water, neither were finished but we were charged a Kings' ransom for them! Food was good, service was great. I think the servers were entertained by us which added to the experience. Although it was a pricey dinner we did take leftovers to the room and enjoyed the next day. I was happy to find this place located in the Marriott Hotel. It turns out the one of the best rated restaurants on Yelp in my area was inside my hotel. I booked a reservation online. I arrived and was quickly greeted and seated. It appears that this restaurant shares employees with the Thai restaurant also located onsite. I started a with a beer while I was reviewing the menu and I was provided some baked bread with two different kind of butters to start. I decided to order a Threesome for 59 CHF. It came with an appetizer, an entrée and a dessert. I went with the cold meat and cheese plate to start followed by the Entrecote steak and followed by Lava Schoggi for dessert, lava cake with liquid core and sour cream ice cream. I ordered another beer during dinner and had plenty of time to eat my food. I had good service here and the food was good also. My least favorite was the steak, It was cooked perfectly but the portion was small and it didn't have that ribeye consistency but more like a sirloin. The threesome for 59 CHF was a good deal. Decided to stay in and eat at the hotel and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is not very large, but it was very comfortable. One booth sits inside a small gondola! The place is decorated with Swiss charm and all of the menus had both English and German so it was very easy to navigate. My waitress was very nice and helpful. She recommended that I try their fixed menu that included any appetizer, any non-special entree and a desert. I chose the asparagus risotto and a traditional Swiss entree made with veal and mushrooms in a sauce with hash browns. The risotto was very good. Super creamy and tender and the fried asparagus on top was a lovely touch. The veal was spectacular! So tender and flavorful! I absolute loved it! The waiter messed it kinda up by announcing our birthday instead of our anniversary and had lots of attitude after. The other waiter working just 2 days and still in training was very nice. My first meal in Zurich was at eCHo. I had made reservations way in advance for late dinner since my flight won't get in to Zurich until close to 9pm. So, when I got here, I pretty much had the restaurant to myself as all of Zurich has already had eaten dinner except for me. I got to pick my table and of course, I had to eat inside their one and only gondola. Being lactose intolerant, I'd normally shy away from dairy but I'm in Switzerland! And it was almost 10pm and I had no other plans but to eat and sleep! So, I got the fondue. I thought about getting some protein but the server said their meat portions are quite big so, I skipped that part. The fondue was more than enough. There was so much bread (and you could ask for more if it's not enough). They must put a lot of alcohol in their fondue or maybe I'm just not used to drinking anymore, I was getting tipsy from eating fondue! Hot melty cheese enrobing each chunk of bread...yuuuummmm...I finished my fondue. Every drop and morsel in the pot was gone. I had a few pieces of bread leftover. The service was good too. This was the best restaurant to enjoy a nice meal after a long day of travel. It was warm and festive. The waiter, Cara, went above and beyond and was very nice to interact with. We were staying at the Marriott - tried eCHo as it had good reviews - we were very pleased with everything! Staff was friendly and attentive (Florian was our waiter and made great wine recommendations). eCHo is located inside the Marriott Hotel in Zurich. I had reservations and when we went, we were the only ones in the restaurant. It's definitely an upscale restaurant and the decor matches that feel. As a starter, we got the meat and cheese plate. For entrees, we shared the Fondue and Cordon Bleu. The presentation for each dish was really nice. Swiss food isn't my favorite but I enjoyed the food at eCHo. However, the food was not worth the prices. Food is good but not anything special. I'm sure there's better food in Zurich at a more reasonable price. Before we ordered the entrees, we were originally going to share the "A Threesome for 59" which is a 3 course meal for $59 CHF. Our waiter said we CAN'T share that menu item. He said we would have to order 2 of them and if he sees us share, we would have to pay twice. That was not only disappointing but ridiculous. I've never been to a restaurant that will not let you split a plate with someone else, let alone be so strict about it. Skip eCHo unless you're into hotel restaurants. I must say that I'm disappointed. First of all when you enter through Thai restaurant the combination of smells of Thai and Swiss restaurants is just very bad. Then, when entering the Swiss part the cheese smell is so strong that you feel it all evening- sorry but something must be wrong with ventilation. The menu card was short which was good. We chose our meals but had difficulties to explain to the waiter that as side dish we want rosti instead of purée- this does seem difficult right? The meals were not served at the same time, first man were served theirs. The food was ok but my expectation was to eat something terrific as it is Marriott in the end. Unexpectedly great! I did the 3 course with the wine buffet. Just a warning, a glass of every variety will leave you pretty much S@#T faced. I had the melted cheese with pickles in a potato skin. Hum what not to love here? Then I had the game entree and then the gooseberry sorbet sporting a real gooseberry. He had the beef shabu shabu of sorts, raw meat served with a very hot stone. Overpriced but excellent quality. Decent selection and variety. Steak was cooked perfectly. The beers were small (0.3L for price of 0.5L). If this was 30% cheaper it would be 4 to 4.5 stars. We came here for dinner while staying at the hotel. It's a cute restaurant on the second floor. The wait staff were exceptionally friendly. We loved the bread with cheese, salami, and various butters that were brought to the table. Two of us ordered the cheese fondue appetizer to share. Our main courses were the burger and the sea bass. The cheese fondue was disappointing, actually it was the worst of the fondues we had on our trip. The burger was pretty terrible. It looked great and size was generous but the meat was just weird. The fries it came with were awesome. My sister really liked her sea bass. We all thought it was so clever to have the dessert menu on postcards and they said they would send them for us. My main complaint is that even though service was very friendly it was unbelievably slow. We were there at least an hour before the appetizer came to the table. For our starters we got the trout sampler and goat cheese, for the main course we had the perch and the veal and for desert we got the assortment. The trout sampler was OK. The goat cheese was nice except it was encrusted in some sort of stale bread which ruined it (The bread was also stale). The veal was overcooked and gross, but the sauce was nice I guess. The perch was cooked fine but lacked flavor and had bones in every bite. The desert was the worst - in an assortment of 6 only one was halfway decent. As for the wine buffet, the gimmick that sold us, was a really cool idea in theory but all of the wines except one were pretty brutal to drink, even the waiter made a joke about it at one point. Every wine was cheap and gross. I had much higher expectations for the prices and for a Marriott. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

Worth going for the 65 CHF (serve yourself) all you can drink "wine buffet" with 3 course meal. Everything was fine from the ravioli, salads and cured meats to steaks and sides, but due to the size of my group, we didn't get the hot stones which took away a lot of the fun from the steak dinner. My steak was cold, not sure if that is common here when you ask for rare. It was not seasoned well while my sides were over seasoned. Boiled Brussel sprouts, thyme mashed potatoes, red cabbage, all were disappointing. Others in my group got the veal "zurich dish" that also contains liver and it was overly creamy making it impossible to finish. The hash brown potatoes were nothing new or impressive. This place is something of a gem hidden away in Marriott Zurich. I don't usually dine in restaurants that are affiliated/owned by a hotel, but I needed to find a place in short notice to celebrate my wife's birthday. These guys arranged an awesome pistachio strawberry cake on a 1 hour notice!! Next up: They reserved the "cable car" table for us... Which is the perfect piece to make an occasion memorable. Appetizer, mean mean and desert. With "all the wine you could get from the wine Buffett". Turns out the wine buffet had one wine selection, a very young (2015) Pinot Noir. The bottles were always closed and I had to ask for a refill three times. After two hours the finally managed to remember I was owed a dessert. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. Probably the best value in Zürich... 3 courses for 69 CHF that includes a full wine buffet. The wines are decent and the food is good. I've always found the staff very nice and helpful. I started with an asparagus and strawberry salad... it's quite nice oddly enough. For a main I enjoyed the fillet of perch on a hash brown (potato cake) bed with a champagne sauce on the side. Their fresh baked breads are delicious and dessert... as a friend of mine says, it's smack yo' momma good. My favorite is the trio which consists of flan, lemon sorbet atop a chocolate nest with fresh berries inside and two deep fried Lindor chocolate truffles (one white and one milk) that have been wrapped in a thin pastry to look like a candy wrapper. That's the SYMG part... one night we asked for just a plate of these heavenly goodies. For once the term "amaze balls" truly applies to something. Had a traditional Swiss dinner here. We started with a cheese fondue that was the perfect texture and taste. It was served with multiple types of bread that complemented the cheese.
