My wife and I lived here for numerous years and had a really positive experience with the apartment management, especially with Tom. He is very hands-on, efficient, and consistently professional in everything he does. Communication has always been clear and effective, and he's quick to respond and follow through. The amenities in the building are also great and well maintained, which adds to the overall quality of living here. What really stands out, though, is Tom's approach to management - he takes the time to make sure new tenants are a good fit and that they'll mesh well with the current community. That extra attention to detail really makes a difference in the overall environment. I wrote this review on their property management page. I thought it was important I share it here as well because these are the reviews along with their YouTube videos that made me what to sign a lease with them. I thought most of them being posted on the same day was kind of strange, and I now realize I should have paid more attention to that. I was genuinely excited to move into Echo Lofts because I thought I'd found a gem. However, on September 1st, I walked into a complete mess. Before you sign a lease with this property, be sure to read all of their reviews--not just the five-star ones. Before I moved in, I assumed that the property manager would walk through the space with the previous tenant to ensure the space wasn't left in the condition you see in the photos. When I walked in and saw the holes, black fingerprints/footprint (yes, footprint), a black speckled air vent, water damage, and the grimy nature of the apartment, I was shocked and disappointed. If you're wondering if I saw the place beforehand I did. However, when everything is moved and the person doesn't bother to clean up behind themselves you can see how bad a space really is. These issues made it very clear that the person moving out didn't care for the space and that Sky Properties doesn't do their part to maintain their properties. Again this is disappointing, especially since they have these videos and perfect photos posted on YT and their listing pages. They allow their tenants to leave their properties any kind of way. What has been the most disappointing, is the lack of accountability for the former tenants. In addition, management will do nothing to make it right, even if it's as simple as painting the walls so that someone feels comfortable paying a deposit on my new space. No one wants to get stuck paying for someone else's mess. One thing to note about deposits in LA in general which is new to me as I've never had this issue, possibly because of dealing with more flexible landlords. The deposits that are left on the apartment when a tenant moves out will only be given back if all occupants vacate the space. This is their policy. So don't count on getting your deposit back if you and your roommate aren't moving out at the same time. The sucky part is they will not use that to fix anything that a previous tenant left behind. I focused on the pretty photos, videos, and "5-star" reviews. I have learned a valuable lesson that those aren't the best gauge when it comes to how a company cares for its tenants and its property. Since my writing of my review, I did receive a phone call asking what could be done to get me to take my negative review down. They offered to let me out of my lease. However, my stuff has already been moved in by movers, and we all know finding a new place takes time. Not to mention, that option would leave my roommate paying all of the rent. I couldn't do that to them, even given my ongoing disappointment and frustration. The only bright spot in this whole thing has been their head of maintenance. He came by at 7:00 on Friday evening (drove all the way from Reseda in traffic) to look at the air vents and the water damage. He changed all of the air vents, cleaned them off, and he will be back on Monday/Tuesday to paint the water leak spot, which he looked into and said needed no repairs. As a property, I get there are things you don't "have" to do. However, when your old tenant leaves a place in a filthy mess, in good faith, I would hope other property managers would try to meet in the middle. The lease out may have been the middle for them, but that would have left me without a place to live and having to spend more time and money to move out when a paint job and a little maintenance would have done the trick. I have spent all week trying to clean my "new" place that I was SO excited about, which just keeps making me so sad. I have never had a move in experience as challenging and frankly, disgusting as this one, even as a subletter. The rooms I moved into were always in good condition--no footprints on the walls, no filth anywhere. And the landlords always made sure space was in its best condition instead of waiting until they have to fix a problem. I'm grateful for their head of maintenance. He truly made my day yesterday, and you can tell he cares about his work and tenants. read more

Lived here for 2 years and absolutely love the neighborhood. The apartments are within a close proximity to echo park, target, leo's tacos, a cute wine bar, and a bunch of other fun things. The neighbors are incredibly welcoming and kind, I've made some lifelong friends living here. I also loved that the apartment has great amenities and is quite aesthetically pleasing. Even the building manager, Tom, is absolutely wonderful and does his best to help everyone there in a timely manner. My issue is with the property management company, ORO properties. They recently purchased the property about a year ago, and ever since they took over things went downhill tremendously. They have consistently neglected my requests to have maintenance resolve the issues I was having. For about 3 months, my refrigerator wasn't cooling to the proper temperature and everything was spoiling extremely quickly. Even in a pandemic, I find it inexcusable to continue attempting to put off basic necessities to your tenants. I complained about my fridge multiple times and was always told that the problem wasn't that serious... I had to wait about 8-10 weeks for a new one. I lost hundreds of dollars to groceries and they never even acknowledged or attempted to make restitution with me. If you're spending 3K on rent on a timely manner every month, it doesn't make any sense why you should wait on necessities. They have also sent me my security deposit late with ridiculous charges. It's impossible to get in touch with anyone there... If you have any problem that's bigger than what Tom can assist with, I'm sure you'll have the worst time trying to resolve it. There are many things to love about this apartment but I wouldn't recommend living here to anyone. I also suspect some of the reviews on this yelp are fake... it's quite suspicious a majority of the reviews are written within the same week. read more

My fiance and I have lived in this apartment building for two years and absolutely loved it. The neighborhood is great! Walking distance from echo Park lake and a bunch of great cafes, restaurants, and bars. The building itself is very well maintained. With a gym that I use regularly and a pool that gets a lot of use in summer. The neighbors are all really friendly and frequently grill or bring their dogs outside. Tom is a great building manager and has always been on top of any problem that arises. read more

My boyfriend and I have lived at The Echo for almost two years and we love it. It would be hard for us to justify ever leaving due to all of the amazing amenities we get for the price: pool, hot tub, gym, 2br, 2bath, two floors, a ton of storage space, and two parking spots in a protected garage. My favorite bar of all time is across the street and we now have an awesome cafe too. Great location and great building. Having two private parking spots, a gym, a pool, and hot tub at an affordable price has been amazing. Lock in the price now with a two-year lease before it creeps up further. But the best aspect of the property is the manager, Tom, who's amazingly nice and hard working. I've been in love with this part of town for years and now that I've found the perfect apartment I don't think I'll ever leave. The complex and apartment itself couldn't be better - with all the amenities my heart desires, but on top of that, our building manager, Tom, is the nicest guy around. Super happy with where I live. I moved to this complex without knowing much about the area and sort of on a whim. There are many times a week when I reflect on how happy I am that I chose this specific complex. First, the apartments are in great shape and the amenities are awesome. Neighbors are friendly. I have everything I need in walking distance - coffee shops, my yoga studio just 3 min walk away, the beautiful echo park lake, and Sunset BLVD with plenty of restaurants, shops, and a market. I lived in two different units over a 3 year span. The location is great -- near the highway (without the noise) and Echo Park Lake. The only and ONLY reason I am giving this apartment one star is SOLELY because of the building manager, Tom. He has been accusing me and my roommate not cleaning up BBQ area more than once, accusing my roommate's dog peeing in the building, which none of it is true. And today he threaten to write up a notice and serve us when we honestly forgot to pay rent. The first message we got from him about rent is: "I need you guys to pay your rent asap or you will be served with a three day or quit notice." And I should make clear that we never missed ANY payment before. We've been super cooperated with everything he asked. I don't know what kind of agenda he has against us, but up until this point I have been nice and kind to him, but enough is enough. I really like the apartment and space, and neighbors I met are all nice and friendly people and dogs, but I don't want to live here anymore because I don't see why I should pay for a manager who's not helpful, even going against me. read more
