My wife's Family traveled to this area of the country for probably 15 years while she was growing up. They use to stay in Eminence, MO and camp at the State Park (Alley Springs). I've probably been there 10 times over the past 20 years. Prior to Echo Bluff being built, we stayed at various places in Eminence (Rivers Edge, various B&Bs). The accommodations were always Spartan and it was almost impossible to find any restaurants that offered anything more than "Fried something" or hamburgers. All that has changed with Echo Bluff State Park Lodge. The Lodge has accommodations that are orders of magnitude better than what can be found in Eminence and the on-site restaurant has really good food and a menu that is large enough that one could eat several different meals at the Lodge without having to repeat and entree. There is a beautiful creek behind the lodge (about 150 yards) that you can put your lawn chair in, sit back and enjoy the cool stream water and the absolutely gorgeous view of the Bluff. read more

I had a wonderful stay here the 2nd week of June for a girls trip. My friend, who lives outside St. Louis, had made all the arrangements and got us a wonderful cabin for 2 nights. At first, there was a bit of a disappointment as we were supposed to have a top floor, and due to an error we got the downstairs. It ended up being okay as we still had a lovely deck to take in the park views. And our upstairs cabin neighbors were pretty quiet. The main building of the lodge is so rustic, yet modern with a restaurant, nice gift shop, fireplace and a large outdoor deck. The staff was lovely and so helpful. The cabin itself had a small kitchen, 3 bedrooms, one bathroom, deck and living room. For 3 of us, we were very comfortable. I'd have to say the best part of the cabin was sitting out on the deck at night listening to crickets, watching fireflies, and seeing the stars. We lucked out with great weather so were able to enjoy hiking trails within the park, evenings sitting at the creek near the bluffs and pick up from a local rafting company for a river float. The lodge also has the main "hotel" with traditional rooms but I'd highly recommend the cabins for a quieter stay. They're just a short walk away from the main lodge. We stayed one night at the Lodge and were very pleasantly surprised by pretty much everything! The staff were friendly and accommodating. The Lodge has a warm feel with a beautiful fireplace lit in the foyer area; also the rooms have fireplaces too. Weather permitting you can sit outside on the back deck and enjoy some amazing views! Everything was clean and well kept; just perfect! In addition; there's plenty of hiking places in the park to get lots of steps in too! read more

We ate there twice with a party of 8 and all the food was great. Pizzas are good size and loaded . Pies were great . Pork bbq sandwich was great . Hidden gem in the hills of MO. Lodge is really nice place to relax. Creek and swimming footsteps from lodge. Carrs canoe and kayak rentals picked us up and dropped us off at the lodge. Very nice place and lovely area for hiking and exploring. Bed was comfy, but the pillows were much too hard for me. It's the first time I've ever not liked a hotel pillow. Loved the gas fireplace in the spacious room we had with two queen beds. Great view of the creek and bluffs out our window. Nice balcony, but a little too chilly to use it, but we did step out to enjoy the view. The grill restaurant was basic but had reasonably good food and nice big windows for enjoying the surrounding view. Large outdoor seating area, but we ate in being winter. Service was very good at all times. We found the employees throughout the lodge and grill to be friendly. . Got a good deal for going mid-week in winter. Our third night was free, which was great. However, their online pricing strategy is a little confusing, so be on your toes. read more

We have stayed here several times. It is a great place to visit. There are breathtaking views, amazing atmosphere. We have enjoyed staying in the lodge and had a cabin a couple times. The cabins are extremely clean and stocked. All the beds are very comfortable. Just need groceries or eat at the lodge. Every time we have been here, we have saw the area's wild horses. We have also loved the free entertainment at the outdoor amphitheater! Great stay!! read more

The location is great, and staff were wonderful, but there are issues. Rooms are overpriced, and the lodge itself seems hastily constructed. The TV setup was a pain to figure out, and the picture was distorted. The in-room furnace unit would not shut off or adjust easily, and made constant loud noise. The shower leaked all over the floor, despite the fact that I pulled the curtains tight. Staff were not aware that using the washer and dryer would put a $15 charge on my credit card, even though the lodge opened in 2016. I was told that no one ever does laundry. The restaurant was overpriced and gave me mild food poisoning. While trying to find peace by the creek, two tweens began throwing rocks close to my head. After asking them twice to stop, they crossed the creek. One of them seemed to be in a panic, and when the parents arrived, I had to deal with a lovely screaming match. Not very peaceful! While I plan to return to this park, I won't stay at the lodge or eat at the restaurant again. read more

Echo mountain state Park Betty Lea Lodge My husband and I stayed at the lodge for 2 nights in October. The lodge was built in 2016, and is in very good condition. We paid extra for a room with a view. We had a lovely room on the second floor looking out over a deck and lawn towards some trees, a creek, and Echo Bluff. We had a small covered balcony with two chairs and a little table. We put some beverages in the small room refrigerator, and had happy hour on the balcony. In the morning we looked out the arcadia door and saw mist in the hills. Our room had two comfortable queen beds. Each bed had good lighting for reading in bed. There was a microwave and a Keurig coffee maker we did not use. We stayed at this lodge because we wanted to visit the Current River, a beautiful place I remember from my childhood. Long ago the Current River was popular for float trips, and nowadays it is still very popular for kayakers and canoers. This lodge is very convenient for anybody wanting to visit the Current River. This river is spring-fed and clear. You can see the fish swimming in it. It is probably good for fishing, and definitely good for kayaking. Carr Boat Rentals has rented boats in the area for more than 50 years. My husband and I wanted to locate a particular spot on the Current River not far from Round Spring. Local scenic river guide Bill Smith of Summerville MO helped us find that spot. He has lived in the area a long time. Bill recently retired from the Ozark National Scenic Riverways Park. He is the one who recommended this lodge. Our room had a lovely easy-to-use gas fireplace. It operated on and off with an eye-level wall switch like a light switch. The fireplace added a nice ambiance to our room. For me the free internet worked fine in the room. My husband had some trouble with the room internet and decided to use the internet in the lobby. There is no cellular service at Echo Mountain State Park; this is the boondocks. The lobby of the lodge also had a large welcoming gas fireplace. The lobby has comfortable seating. The lodge has a restaurant called the Creekside Grill. We were lucky to visit the restaurant in October when fewer customers visit the lodge. The restaurant has about six inside tables and maybe 20 outside tables. A large summer crowd has the potential to overwhelm the restaurant if there are not enough staff working. The lodge has several multistory fully-equipped modern cabins available for rent. These cabins would be convenient for people who want to bring their own food and do their own cooking. I did not notice a nearby grocery store, so come prepared with your own food. The lodge has a small gift shop that sells beer, wine, soda and some snacks. We bought some beer and trinkets. Top notch lodge accommodations. Beautiful lobby and veranda. Clean, comfortable room. No cell service whatsoever. WiFi available inside the lodge only. Park trails were clearly marked, gorgeous views, unspoiled wilderness. More State and Natl Parks all around for further exploration. 30 minute drive to a town with small stores, restaurants. The lodge dining was better than restaurants available in the nearest towns. I can't wait to go back. read more

Having been to only a few state parks and never having stayed at any, I wasn't terribly sure what to expect but nonetheless was thoroughly impressed with these lodges and cabins. The accommodations are nice and spacious, and the spaces are beautiful. These are great places for trips that include a good group of friends or the whole family. Overall, they've done a really fantastic job developing this area. It may have just been our cabin, but bring some blankets because the heat is inconsistent and doesn't really function like what I'm used to. I'd also suggest bringing your own food to cook, as there are all of the normal kitchen appliances one would need in their own house; the food is pretty bad and not something you want to rely on. Trust me. I'd also like to see them further develop the surrounding area. While I was there for a wedding and didn't get too much time to go searching and investigating, there didn't seem to be too much available to do. I'm sure there was more than I saw, but making that more prominent will also help draw people to the area. read more

The accommodations are nice enough and the area is very pretty (Missouri has some beautiful landscapes) but the reception staff is not great. I've stayed in the park multiple times and the best service I've experienced there has been at the campgrounds and in the restaurant. For some reason, the "welcome" staff at the lodge itself is just not very welcoming. In my experience it's better to camp here, or at minimum be in a cabin away from the lodge with limited contact with reception. read more

Our friends invited us to Echo Bluff. They raved on the place! Unfortunately we were not able to book a stay on arrival so we stayed in Eminence. Our friends also raved on the restaurant there. Particularly the "Mushroom Strudel dish". Which apparently is NOT available along with several other menu items! Our experience was subpar. The service was very uncomfortable. Our server was extremely unprofessional! I normally don't complain, however the behaviors of our server was highly inappropriate and crossed the line! This needs to be brought to the attention of management. The service was not only mediocre but what made it for an uncomfortable meal was the way server aggressively came on to my husband! She was rude to me and very accommodating to him! He even mentioned it was odd after she took the order. When I went to use the restroom the server came to the table and slipped my husband her phone number, winked at him and walked away. She then stepped back and waited then approached him again to ask if he "needed anything". He told her "The check" and she was standing so close to him he was uncomfortable. So he told her he is a married man and not interested. He even said he was there with his wife(myself). She smiled, leaned in closer, and said "That doesn't bother me!" AND then winked at him! UNBELIEVABLE!! Ofcourse my husband did not tell me any of what happened until we left! He knew I would have definitely had a talk with the young lady and put her in her place! I strongly suggest management observe the behaviors of the waitstaff! read more

This was a gorgeous lodge! The rooms, we had a 2 bedroom place at the lodge, was appointed with standard hotel accommodations and the hotel staff was very helpful the whole time. I also had a chance to see the 3 bedroom cabins and they're super nice! All the fixtures and appliances are in great condition and the cabins are very nice. This is an excellent place to stay and I saw lots of pets too! read more

We just returned from a one-night getaway at Echo Bluff, staying in the lodge. I will definitely return. The park: The park is the old Camp Zoe, which became state property through a long and interesting history. Sinking Creek and the bluffs are beautiful, the park is excellently built, and it's close to Round Spring. I'm told all the major canoe outfitters will pick-up at the park during canoe season. The trails aren't long but they are interesting, the creek is a joy and only 100 yards behind the lodge. The access, assortment of lodging from camping, "cabins" (very nice and large), and the lodge means this place will have lots of people in the summer. The Lodge: The lodge is beautiful. While modern, it's built in a classic style. Now, nothing can match the mastery of the lodges built from 1920-1940, so that's not the right comparison. The lodge favors comparably to many nicer new boutique ski lodges I've stayed in. To compare to hotel chains, it's not the Ritz, but it's far nicer than a Hampton Inn - A Hilton Garden Inn is a good comparison. Beautiful and comfortable yet casual. The outside decks were nicely appointed, and are probably a fun party place in the summer. There is an excellent gift shop/commissary off the main lobby The Room: We had a bluff view king room with a queen sleeper. The sleeper selected determines the size of the couch. The pictures are accurate. Nicely furnished, gas fireplace, lots of room, bath was large enough that one can shower and the second use the sink comfortably. The deck had two chairs and looked out onto the creek and bluff for a beautiful view. The off-season price of $89/night was a real steal. The restaurant: The restaurant was one of the two slip-ups. The food was decent - kind of like a Houlihan's menu, and I enjoyed the taste, but our food arrived cold. They were also understaffed (not completely unexpected during the intra-holiday week) but there were several diners over a couple of seatings, so poor staffing belongs on management. However, the staff was as attentive as possible and friendly. We weren't overly hungry so we ordered one entree and two salads. Without asking, the kitchen split and plated the entree and sides, which was a nice touch. Other service: Everyone was friendly and attentive, but there was one minor irritant. The deck out back begs to be used. It also has plenty of gas patio heaters. None were on. We asked if they could be lit. I was told "If there's staff to do so." We took matters into our own hands, I lit up one of the patio heaters myself, rolled it where we wanted it, and sat looking toward the bluffs and the glorious night sky you can only find in someplace that remote. A resort should be more responsive to its paying clients to feature its amenities, even during slow periods. There is a bonfire ring also. Maybe those will be used during the sold-out New Year's weekend, but featuring those amenities regardless of capacity means those who came when it was light are more likely to return. Bottom line, a fantastic new state park, worthy of its own escape, or a nicer base for a Current or Jack's Fork float trip. read more

This lodge is picked from the mountains of Colorado and placed in Southern Missouri. My girlfriends work had their first annual float trip here this past weekend and this facility is spectacular. We stayed in one of the three bedroom (3 queen beds and 2 pull out sofas) "cabins" facing the lodge and bluff. All decks face the sunset over the bluff and perfect for grilling and evening drinks. I've been on many floats with camping, community bathrooms and basic cabins and this is a float with a 5-star hotel to come back to. Hot water for all 7 of us in the cabin and two large bathrooms for the group. The facilities were top notch, the staff was collectively the happiest people I've been in contact with and the restaurants on site were incredible (you don't have to cook your own food after the float, even though each cabin has full kitchen with the essentials). This is not a place you'll find The Bull float trip, but we were a group that certainly had our share of drinks and fun on the river. There are families young and old at this facility. My guess is they'll have to triple the amount of cabins in the near future to accommodate the crowd. And I hope they do so I don't have to book a year ahead of time to come back! read more

Our family of 44 gathered for our mom's birthday. We had four - 3 bedroom cabins and several rooms in the lodge. We reserved a pavilion for Friday night to cook out and had a catered dinner in the lodge Saturday night. Echo Bluff is a beautiful state park! The accommodations were wonderful. Very clean and plenty of room. The location is beautiful. The staff was great to work with and helped to make sure her birthday was special. Part of our group went floating on Saturday - canoes, kayaks and tubes. It was a beautiful float down the Current River. We would love to come back in the future. read more

A beautiful park, and great lodging!! We rented a 12-sleeper cabin (4 bedrooms plus 2 pull out sofas). The beds were comfortable and the place was huge! The staff was very friendly. The only reason this review didn't get 5 stars is because of the restaurant- the food was pretty bad. Cold and tasteless- we tried the breakfast but didn't go back for dinner. The staff and service there was just as friendly as the rest of the park. We will definitely go back, and bring our own food- the cabin had a large kitchen and dining table. read more

Stayed here for Mother's Day weekend. The park, cabins, and lodge are beautiful! We had the 4 bdrm cabin. The only issue was the gas grill, it was a little on the small side considering we were cooking for 9 adults and 1 teenager. I highly recommend this park. Cabins all face Sinking Creek and offer beautiful views of the Bluff and the sunset. The lodge store carried everything we ultimately needed, however didn't offer a whole lot for groceries and we had to drive 30 minutes into Eminence to the grocery store. The playground is really cool although we didn't have any kids with us to enjoy it. Will definitely be back again as soon as possible. read more
