Echo Bluff State Park Lodge - We would love to help you plan your picture-perfect wedding!

Echo Bluff State Park Lodge

My wife's Family traveled to this area of the country for probably 15 years while she was growing…read moreup. They use to stay in Eminence, MO and camp at the State Park (Alley Springs). I've probably been there 10 times over the past 20 years. Prior to Echo Bluff being built, we stayed at various places in Eminence (Rivers Edge, various B&Bs). The accommodations were always Spartan and it was almost impossible to find any restaurants that offered anything more than "Fried something" or hamburgers. All that has changed with Echo Bluff State Park Lodge. The Lodge has accommodations that are orders of magnitude better than what can be found in Eminence and the on-site restaurant has really good food and a menu that is large enough that one could eat several different meals at the Lodge without having to repeat and entree. There is a beautiful creek behind the lodge (about 150 yards) that you can put your lawn chair in, sit back and enjoy the cool stream water and the absolutely gorgeous view of the Bluff.

At first, there was a bit of a disappointment as we were supposed to have a top floor, and due to an error we got the downstairs. It ended up being okay as we still had a lovely deck to take in the park views. And our upstairs cabin neighbors were pretty quiet. The main building of the lodge is so rustic, yet modern with a restaurant, nice gift shop, fireplace and a large outdoor deck. The staff was lovely and so helpful. The cabin itself had a small kitchen, 3 bedrooms, one bathroom, deck and living room. For 3 of us, we were very comfortable. I'd have to say the best part of the cabin was sitting out on the deck at night listening to crickets, watching fireflies, and seeing the stars. We lucked out with great weather so were able to enjoy hiking trails within the park, evenings sitting at the creek near the bluffs and pick up from a local rafting company for a river float. The lodge also has the main "hotel" with traditional rooms but I'd highly recommend the cabins for a quieter stay. They're just a short walk away from the main lodge. It was a truly magical and memorable experience here at Echo Bludd.

Asha is still at the helm as the general manager and the place is run just as well as I remembered. The breakfast they provide is certainly more than you would expect in a hotel of this size. Rooms are clean, service is great. I highly recommend.

Very clean and comfortable when we stayed here in June of 2022. We were in Willow Spring for a…read morefamily wedding and were happy to find a place right off the highway. The front desk attendants were very friendly and helpful. Our room was neat and clean. Sounds weird to say we were thrilled with the bathroom, but we were. Nicole long countertop, shelves underneath. The tub/shower is probably the first I've seen that was not at all slippery while showering/bathing. Decent lighting for makeup. The fridge and microwave were handy and also very clean. The AC was easy to use and kept us quite comfortable in our first floor room. (The outside temps were in the 90's. The Cattleman's Steakhouse next door offered 10% off with a room at the hotel so we walked over and enjoyed a delicious meal. The hotel offered a very nice breakfast buffet in the morning. Nice selection of breakfast offerings: eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, waffles, yogurt, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, cocoa, cereals. The hotel is great for travelers who are looking for a clean and reliable place to stay. It's just off the highway and very easy drive to "the main strip" in Willow Springs. When I had a slight wardrobe malfunction in the morning, the front desk was able to provide me with a tiny sewing kit and I was good to go.

Mansfield Woods - Our beautiful Ozark hills in autumn

Mansfield Woods

Mansfield Woods Vacation Cabins is owned by Barbara S. Herring and is extremely poorly run. Both…read morethe property and the cabins are in extremely poor state. Perhaps some time ago they were in better shape, but they clearly have been neglected for a long time. The description on the website states that the cabins were recently renovated, but it is clearly incorrect, as they are in serious need of maintenance. The photos do not match the accommodations at all. The cabins reek of mold and mildew. The carpeting is dirty and old, and for some reason there is carpet in the bathrooms (more mildew). The air conditioners were practically clogged with dust, and there was dust on the walls and on the ceilings. The A/C barely put out enough air and took a long time to cool the cabins. The cabins felt very rickety and unsafe, especially the decks. Locks on doors were flimsy. There was a hole in the wall of one of the cabins we rented. Showers did not work right and the bathtubs did not drain well. The beds were small and uncomfortable. While there were screens on the windows, there were such large gaps in the frames that bugs could easily get in; as a result, the cabins were full of them (ranging from moths to spiders to mosquitoes and flies). There are multiple unfinished or ruined buildings on the property. The pond closest to the cabins is almost dry and is more like a swamp that breeds mosquitoes. The other pond is a bit bigger, but very overgrown and dirty. To add insult to injury, Kyle, the man assigned to take care of the cabins during our stay appeared to be under the influence of drugs for the majority of the time and behaved unprofessionally towards me and my friends, at one point walking out on the deck of his cabin with no clothes on while we were having dinner. Mansfield Woods Vacation Cabins is among the worst establishments I've ever stayed at. I would never again stay there, and advise others to stay away as well. I lodged multiple complaints against Mansfield Woods with the state agencies.

Next time, I will eat veggie luncheon at the seed farm! Caroline's was cute, but biscuits and gravy were poor--should try donuts and cinnamon rolls next time. The B&B, Weaver's on the town square, had a delightful tea (2-4 p.m.) and iced coffee for our afternoon respite. Our cabin was quiet, rustic and provide necessary items: microwave, coffee maker, fridge for enjoying a leisurely morning start. Hope to go back sometime. The drive on Hwy. 5 from Lebanon south is just delightful!
