Told him what I was looking for but I gradually got discouraged as all he was showing me were the bigger style bigger sound units that are common for home systems. But, alas! With a little patience we revealed a new treasure: smaller desk top speakers! Minor speaker mesh stains on the front but super decent with a little TLC. He was super friendly and chill, even making an effort to find parts that could potentially be missing from this set (like compatible power cord). It also came with an amp box that I've got sitting below my desk table, which was a nice surprise (I keep it plugged in for the deeper sounds or just unplugged for more "regular(?)" crispy audio). All that for a really awesome deal; I think it was something like $15-30 or something crazy like that. Good shit, dude! Thank you. If you're looking for small speakers, I probably snagged the last set but I definitely recommend this place for any help with acheiving 2 things at once: reusing/upcycling any sort of old working electronics and supporting a damn good local friendly small business.

They will tell you that they are doing work for huge companies and individuals and you are lucky to have them. Unfortunately for us, we believed them. First, they gave us a timeframe for installation which ended up being much later than they promised which caused us not to have our system in place for a party. Second, the wireless network that they set up had lots of holes in it. Their sales pitch promised that it would be flawless and if it wasn't, there would be no cost to us for making it right. It took them weeks to come out and analyze it and we had to threaten them to get them to show up. Finally they did. They tried to charge us a few thousand dollars more when it didn't work and blamed the house set up for the problem. The truth is they never came out and checked out how our house was set up and as a result, The system didn't work. They did put in more equipment to make it right and then tried to charge us for it. Eventually they wrote it off. But it was a fight every step of the way and the representations they made to us when we bought the system were simply over exaggerated. Third, we bought this service contract where they represented that they would be able to fix any problem that arose within a day. That simply was false. Today, we have not had I our system working for a few days and after they screwed around with it for a while over the Internet, said that they would not be able to get to it until next week. When we reported the representations that they made, they simply said we'll try, but we only have two technicians. If you are reading this note they only have two technicians that can solve problems. And now we are without our system for another week because they can't fix it. In short, these people overpromise and under deliver and overcharge also. Don't go near them. You are forewarned.

We had checked on our phones with the APPLE APP that stated that it was available for purchase and pick up at this location. The Guy proceeded to tell us that it was not available and ended with that. We said okay that's fine, and then asked if there were any MacBook Neo available and he stated yes and to go over to the "order pick up table". My fiancé and I arrived to the table and saw a team member kind of slouched over the table and when we approached her she stated are you here to pick up an order? We said no and then she said well who sent you over here? I said the guy that greeted us in the front. Already- I am annoyed, cause 1. WHY are you annoyed? 2. The whole time we were talking, she was slouched over ( in a lazy way), she was not making any eye contact with us at all! I was the one that was purchasing the MacBook Neo, but she would ask questions or talked to my fiancé instead, like she did not even acknowledge that I was there. He also stated to her that I was the one that is buying it and to redirect her questions to me. 2 more people arrived at the table for pick up but she seemed annoyed. Her mannerisms and attitude was very below average. She spoke very low and I had to lean into her to and ask her to repeat herself which just made her more annoyed. The other gentleman that had arrived maybe 20 minutes after us later then asked if she can get another person to the table to assist them and that is when she went over and grabbed " Jake" to come and assist. Jake was pleasant and kind and was able to answer all of our questions and gave us reassurance and was able to assist us with placing an order for a Mac mini. If it wasn't for Jake, I would have said F this and drove to another location that is out of my way. The team member that was at that table I later found out by her name tag was " Ivy". There was no introduction no nothing just " Who sent you here". Like TF? She was also wearing a mask which okay cool but with her speaking low it made it difficult to hear and understand her while slouched over the table the whole damn time! very not approachable! Honestly, we came here to purchase some items from Apple, and yet members of this team made it so difficult to communicate and buy, like it was a burden that we are in there spending hundreds of dollars. I am so surprised that this location is nice, so you expect that the customer service was also going to be nice as well but ended up being trashy attitudes when it comes to purchasing an item. Out of the 3 people from that location, 1 was nice, attentive and actually showed that he cared about the items we were buying. So Jake, thank you so much for that day, but after that I think I rather go to another Apple Store-for sure if you come here you will leave frustrated. -2/10

I recently have been wanting to upgrade my headphones, but was not sure if a huge jump in price would make a serious difference. After researching and asking questions on forums online I concluded the only way I would know for sure was if I personally tried headphones. Echo Audio was in my area and had a good selection of Grados, Sennheisers, some AKG's, and even the Sony V6 and Audio Technica m50 headphones. I have always wanted to hear what the Grado sound was like, as well as a high end Sennheiser. The well known Sony V6 has always intrigued me but I have never been able to hear one. As I walked in, the guy that greeted me was nice, helpful, and let me hear whatever I wanted including a super high end Sennheiser. He was also respectful of my budget and what I preferred, plus he didn't try to push any sales on me. Overall, I highly recommend this place! read more

I've been an Echo customer for more than a decade and have bought almost all my equipment there - some new equipment and also a lot of pre-owned pieces. I've also traded in and up over the years. What I like about Echo is their straightforward honesty, knowledge they have about such an array of pieces, and also the fact they never force any particular brand. They are never pushy with sales either and are glad to answer any questions. They do choose lines of new products that represent a lot of value, but at any moment, a piece from any manufacturer can walk though the door. If there's any downside, it's just that it's a small business with a staff of 3 so during busy times (like Saturdays) you may need to wait a bit if you have a lot of questions. But they are always helpful. I'm always glad to send my friends to them for any audio gear purchase. read more

One of my favorite things about living in Portland is the vibrant music and audiophile community. At the top of the list of my favorite places and people is Echo Audio and Kurt. Kurt and crew are the real deal. They genuinely care about each and every person who walk thru their door, call or email. I've grown to know Kurt over the past year, and not only is he one of the most knowledgeable (and well respected) individuals in audio, but he is humble and a super decent guy. Every piece of gear or service I've received is A+++, and I often walk away feeling a little guilty I got such a great deal. I think they personify the best of being into music/audio gear. I have seen how they treat their customers and they are very professional and really know their product. if you want something for nothing, try a garage sale, but if you want quality audio gear at a fair price with really good service, you will find great value here. Also, their used equipment line is peerless, and their new premises is a just a hop and and skip from the old one, and looks very impressive. I took a pair of headphones with a broken earphone arm into Echo Audio. Sadly, they couldn't order me a replacement part. But then, something almost unheard of happened. The manager, Matt, offered to hook me up with the part from a broken pair of headphones he had laying around at home. I went in the next day and Matt fixed my headphones free of charge. Incredible service, good prices, and a shop full of temptation!…read more I recently pulled a pair of Traynor PA speakers out of retirement for a friend's outdoor birthday party. It had been 15 years since I last ran music through them, and this time they sounded unbalanced. I tested them the next day using a pink noise reference track, and confirmed that one of the high-frequency horns was much quieter than the other. I fired up ClaudeAI to find out what options I had for replacement, and it pointed me to a couple places and products online. I'd much rather buy local than from Amazon, so I did a quick search and found JaMac. When I called, they told me they could probably repair the existing horn for much less than it cost to replace it. They asked if it was easy to remove the horn (yes, just 6 screws), and told me how to identify whether it was repairable. I removed the horns, and confirmed it was the type they could repair! I just left the shop, and the repair was 15 minutes and only $16, for a new diaphragm. They tested both horns and confirmed that one was broken. They also tested the speaker crossover to make sure that hadn't led to the damage. The hardest part was leaving without buying a new set of speakers! The shop is full of great deals on really high quality speakers and components, but alas I have no excuse to buy any more speakers.

As someone who tries to buy quality once and hold it for as long as possible, I'm slow to make a purchase of this sort. I've been clear about that, and Ford's main concern was to help me in that process while building a relationship. At the moment, all I needed were some new cans. After having my last pair for about 15 years, it was time for something fresh. They are also less brand agnostic than other shops, praising the brands they carry over other brands on two occasions. It's hard to explain, but in our other great audio stores, I don't get that vibe. They want me to enjoy great music and understand that it's all about the long term relationship. That's why those places have gained my repeat business, while I am still waiting for Stereotypes to earn mine. Let me add a couple of caveats: 1) I am so grateful that we have as many quality audio stores as we do.
