Ecco Pizza is a solid spot for delicious, freshly made pies. We ordered the Four Cheese, Pepperoni, and classic Cheese pizzas--all arrived hot and clearly made to order, with that perfect balance of crispy crust and gooey cheese. The service was great--friendly and attentive without being overbearing. One nice touch: the back room has a TV, which made it a fun, laid-back setting for a casual dinner and a movie vibe. You get what you pay for here - I think I paid 7 quid for a margherita which puts it more expensive than Pizza Union but cheaper than pretty much anywhere else. It's definitely better and bigger than Pizza Union which I personally think has little flavour but isn't awful for the price. Pizza Union I also think is more of an individual pie place, whereas Ecco I would argue it was big enough to share between two not-super-hungry people. They cook it to order and it did take around 10 minutes or so, so if you're in a hurry I would order click and collect. The guy working was nice enough but a bit gruff. He gave rather confusing information to a couple who wandered in and were asking about the sandwiches. First he said he could only give what was in the display case and then he said something that sounded conflicting. All in all a good cheap lunch option and I would return if in the area. read more

Pizza in Europe hits different. The ingredients they use just seem a lot more fresh in comparison to that of the States and Ecco Pizza is no different. Was looking for some cheap eats and stumbled upon this place. I ordered their Pepperoni Pizza as it was apparently is their bestseller and it was pretty good. They cook it at very high temperatures for only 3 minutes and so the cheese gets really melty and combines well with the rich tomato-sauce. I will say that it tasted a little bit too wet for me but I did appreciate the flavors and the thick-cut salami. With that, I'm excited to try out more pizza places in London as my quest to find the best pizza place in the city begins. read more

Hidden Little Gem. We stumbled upon this place when looking for a place to grab a bite before the opera. It looked unassuming, but the food was phenomenal. We had the goat cheese sandwiches with cappuccinos and kids had pasta carbonara. Everything was amazing. The sandwiches were delicious. My older even said the carbonara was tastier than all the carbonaras he had in Rome. Highly recommended! read more

Had an hour or so to kill near drury lane on Sunday, yelped and popped into this little joint. I've walked past Ecco many times before, but not being a massive breakfast person. I tend to save it for a bigger lunch. Nonetheless, I thought I'd give breakfast a second chance. I popped in and ordered their £3.90 country breakfast which included bacon, black pudding, a sausage, beans, 2 eggs and I want to say mushrooms, but can't promise you that's true. The breakfast doesn't come with tea, so that's an additional £1.40 - what frustrates me is this: How can a British breakfast not come with tea?! The ingredients are mediocre - nothing you couldn't get from a decent supermarket and...I hesitate when I say this but, it just wasn't greasy enough. I didn't feel like I'd been plunged in oil and come out dirty and hating myself. That's probably just me though. The man behind the counter, possibly the owner, was a bit grumpy - I'll give him the whole Sunday morning excuse, but I was the only person in there, it wouldn't have killed him to be nicer! The baked goods looked good, so maybe the breakfasts here are really just an after-thought, there's lots of positive reviews about the pizza, and that might instigate a second visit. The two times I have been here, the pizza has been delicious! Both times I got the 11" garlic pizza for £2.90. They bake the pizza fresh and it amazes me how little time it takes. It only took me 11 minutes to get from my room in High Holborn residence, order, pay, get my pizza, and return to my room--and our elevator is really slow!! While I think the garlic pizza is the cheapest at £2.90, most of the others are only £3.50. Either way, this is a great deal. But, I would highly recommend the garlic pizza! read more

This place was a GREAT find! We were looking for a cheap place and I was craving pizza, which London is not really known for. We ended up here around 7pm on a Monday night at are two pizzas for about 8£ total. The pizza was very fresh and the cook immediately asked how many pizzas so he could get started on the dough. It only takes a few minutes to get a piping pizza made and both guys were really friendly. We ordered the Ecco special and the Garlic pizza. The special had ham, olives And artichokes and the garlic pizza had garlic and olive oil. The garlic one was only about 3£ and was smaller than the special. Each pizzas' crust was on the thinner side and not too done. If I was on study abroad in London, this would be one of my regular places for some fresh pizza! read more

This is probably as good as pizza will get for me, because I'm not a fan of cheese. You might be wondering why I came here in the first place, then, and the answer to that is really pretty simple: majority rule. Anyway, I opted for the vegetarian pizza (without mozzarella, with artichokes instead) and I have to say I was pretty satisfied. The crust was thin (my personal preference) and the pizza was surprisingly not greasy at all, which I find is a rarity these days. The taste was pretty good too - not too salty and not too heavy on the tomato sauce. One thing I really loved about this place was the service. Even though I probably won't be back (again, not a fan of pizza) I wanted to give a shout out to the people who took/made my order! Thanks for accommodating my dislike of cheese and making me something I could enjoy - and for a reasonable price (~5 pounds for an entire pizza), too. read more

Really amazing pizza at between 4.5-7 GBP. The front and back of the house needs a bit of coordination with each other. Reminded me of two brothers bickering at each other but nonetheless, great pizza at an amazing price. With always needing to wait for an hour to eat lunch or dinner in London, they were pretty fast. They do have more seats in the back area so while it looks small in the front, it can accommodate larger groups it appeared. Whenever I'm passing by around lunch time, I always stop in here for a pizza. It's my favourite food group. You order a pizza from the simple list and in less than five minutes the pizza is on the plate/in the box! So fast and so efficient it really is a fast food. For £3.50 take away or £4 eat in, in my opinion, this has to be the best £ for £ pizza in London. The prices simply can't be beat across the board. Everything seems to be a good deal. Now pizza is my favourite food group BUT my other favourite food group is Burritos. THANKFULLY Ecco have now added burritos by a real Mexican chef. I had the pork with the chef's suggested pickled onion and it was knock out good. All for only £5 when other burrito places charge £2 more. This is my new go to burrito spot for sure. Based on the reviews here I made the trip from Kings Cross to here for dinner on my one night in the smoke expecting an excellent pizza dining experience. What I did not anticipate is that this place is essentially a take-away with a dozen or so Formica tables and plastic chairs. In fairness, the pepperoni pizza was good, not great, but good. Naively I had expected a proper restaurant and, even on rereading the reviews, I didn't pick up the type of restaurant I trekked here for. So, if you want a cheap and good but not great pizza with zero comfort or atmosphere and be out in 30 minutes, this is the place. Not for me, though. read more

A pizza freshly cooked in the middle of Covent Garden for £4.50, coincidentally served in 4.5 minutes. I timed it, there was nothing else to do while I waited at one of their tables. There is room for maybe twenty people and it's only 50p more to eat in, but there is no atmosphere or decor to speak of so I wouldn't be desperate to spend any time there. I'd recommend taking it to Bloomsbury Square just a couple of minutes walk away though. The pizza itself is thin and fairly crispy and the toppings fresh enough, really nice cheeses - overall quite impressive. They have some sandwichy things that look pretty good too. Man oh man. This place is a lifesaver! A filling and actually rather tasty margherita pizza for £3.50? Yes! I've scrimped up the change for pizza here (as well as at Ecco's Goodge Street location) plenty of times and in all likelihood will continue to do so for years to come. It would be erroneous to group Ecco in the same category as London pizzerias such as Santore and Santa Maria. But, Ecco's offer is still very, very good and one of the best bargains in town. We ordered the £5 'Pizza of the Day' (Chorizo and fresh chillis, topped with roquette). In less than 5 mins, this hand stretched pizza was cooked to a perfect thin-crust base. It seems like the prices have been the same since 2010! On Laura K's review, I ordered the garlic pizza. Not your typical foccacia styled pizza I was expecting. It came loaded with mozzarella, herbs and garlic. At £2.90 you can't go wrong - but a definate for garlic and pizza lovers! For your own personal taste, grab the herb shaker or added chilli flakes or chilli oil. If you decide to dine inside (added cost of £0.50 - £0.75 per pizza) , you'll be transcended to a typical New York style deli, complete with cheese cake and fresh chiabatta sandwiches in the display. read more

I won't beat around the bush. This place sells really good pizza for £3.50 / £4 and for that reason alone, it deserves five stars. Working around the corner from Ecco is a bit of a nightmare because, given the choice, I'd probably end up going there for their parma ham pizza just about every day. Service is snappy if a little bit abrupt at times (at least this means you get your food quickly) and the prices beggar belief for what is essentially Covent Garden. As you'd expect, at lunchtime the place is buzzing with locals and students from the nearby English language schools, but since nearly everyone goes for takeaway you can usually find a seat (try round the back where there are sofas). Other things to look out for - free croissants with your coffee in the morning, pizza of the day (usually topped with whatever is left in the fridge, I'm guessing) and various baguettes and sandwiches also for ridiculously cheap inner London prices. Basically, cheap and cheerful and a (not so) well-kept secret! read more

Can't recommend this place highly enough really good fresh pizza for £3:50/£4 depending on what toppings you get. The pizza is cooked super quickly so there's really not much of a wait. Besides the unbelievably low price for central London the pizza is actually so fresh and so tasty too it is really up there with my favourite pizza places. Not too good. You get what you pay for (I guess, though even I think it's too expensive for that). Got a four-cheese pizza - ended up being too greasy and oily. For the same price range (5 to 7 pounds for most pizzas), can definitely get higher quality elsewhere. Atmosphere is a bit industrial/cafeteria like - not too cozy. The service was quite friendly, and the pizza came out quite quickly from time of ordering. Ate here on a Thursday evening at 9 pm - was quite empty, only one or two other customers during the time we were there. I did really like the spicy oil (and vinegar?) sauce, and the chili flakes and oregano helped to make the pizza much tastier. But it's unfortunate to need to "mask" the original quality of the pizza with the extra flavorings. I will say the Emmental on the four cheese pizza saved the day. read more

So, despite living a few minutes from this in my student days, I was still yet to check this place out until last weekend. A few friends had recommended the pizzas, as they are really cheap, so I thought I couldn't really go wrong with a pizza. I opted for the primavera, which was tuna with shallots on a tomato base. I'm not a fan of shallots, so asked for the shallots to be replaced by black olives. That was not a problem and what followed was a lovely cheesy pizza, which certainly on the generous side. We have only given a 1 star cos we had to otherwise no stars My partner and I live less than a minute away and decided after a hard saturday night to enjoy a nice breakfast. Nice it was NOT! the bacon was cooked only on one side, the sausage was raw and the toast was burnt. I won't even go there with the inferior quality of the food in general. This all came on a CHIPPED plate, even though the dining room was empty. We had tried as we walked in to have a conversation with the chef/server, who only spoke a minimal murmur and had a really bad attitude, definitely not hospitable at all. I didn't understand why he was laughing and joshing with those around us. If I dare say it we would of really felt he was being rude, racist and stereotypical of a young mixed couple. Oh and he decided to take our money before we ate, but didn't to the customers behind! After we sat down i got up and asked politely if i could have some sauce. He huffed and puffed and then spoke in his native language. I could only assume, he was discussing me as the waitress who had her back to me then turned and looked directly into my boat race. Then they continued to talk and laugh which made me feel paranoid and embarrassed. Anyway, We felt very uncomfortable and will never ever eat in this venue again! I would prefer to take the 10 min walk down the road to a friendly even though it maybe a more expensive establishment. Such a shame that community neighbourly spirit is dead and there are still ignorant people serving our food. And to top it off my belly is making strange noises. read more

Possibly the worst cafe in the world. Awful slow service 45 minutes for a cooked breakfast. Harsh brown was still frozen. 6 of us visited 1/12/12. Three breakfasts came in 35 minutes the others 10 minutes after. The coffees ordered came in 3 batches 5 minutes apart. I suppose you get what you pay for as £4 a breakfast this was really poor and under cooked. Hope I'm not ill later. read more

My girlfriend paid with a £10 note and was told (erroneously) by the staff that she has used a £5 note. Upon being asked to see the CCTV he said that it was out of order. Rather than give the customer the benefit of the doubt the manager became aggressive and unpleasant. I hope that this was simple negligence compounded by awful customer service and not outright theft. Either way this cafe cannot be recommended. read more
