I had a frustrating experience with this office. When I called, the front desk answered and immediately placed me on hold without even saying hello or acknowledging the call. I never ended up speaking with anyone. The office overall seemed overwhelmed and short staffed. During my appointment, the doctor appeared unprepared and did not know why I was there, despite having my chart in hand. On the way out, he instructed the front desk to send my records to "Dr. Calabrese" -- which is actually me, not my doctor. That interaction left me concerned about the level of attention to detail and communication within the practice. read more

When I attempted to pre-register online the system told me that the birthdate I entered did not match what they had in their system and would not let me proceed. I called the office and told them about the issue, verifying my birthdate for them. The next day they called and said they had fixed the problem and to try again. I did, but the problem remained. So, the day of my appointment I arrived 25 minutes early to fill in the paperwork. I then proceeded to wait for my 10:30 appointment. At about 11:00 I was taken into an exam room and told the doctor was finishing up with his last patient and would be in shortly. And so I waited some more. After waiting for more than a full hour, I decided that we could no longer wait. I informed the staff we were leaving and asked them for my copay to be returned. At that point, I was told (again) that the doctor was finishing up and could see me soon. No thank you! I understand that "emergencies" can come up during the day's appointments, but I have decided that my time is as important as any doctor's time, and I will not wait for longer than an hour to see anyone. So doctors, fix your scheduling systems, and do what it takes to show your patients that you value them and their time. As an addendum, I was waiting with my husband, who runs his own engineering firm, and if he were to show up over an hour late for his appointments with clients, that would be a complete lack of professionalism. They may have great doctors at The Hand Center, but they are not the only game in town. I now have an appointment with another highly regarded orthopedic practice.

If you have a chronic problem they just push you off to specialists who are fully booked. There's no more personal care here and actually seeing a Doctor is a pipe dream. The practice places income over care imo. They have a current lawsuit in place for not treating a patient properly according to Google. This is business only now it seems. Sad ,as before they moved, it was a quaint place for medical care and everyone knew your name.
