We signed up for a wedding package at Starling Hill (Audubon Center at Debs Park). We worked with Kim as our lead coordinator and also worked with Katie who was the associate lead and our day-of coordinator. It was easy to have a wedding package, so we didn't have to seek out many separate wedding vendors and read tons of different contracts. We appreciated how the main essential event set-up was all in one place. Saved us so much time and energy working with these true professionals. They offered narrowed down options, which we really appreciated to save us from decision-fatigue, but if we had special upgrade requests, Kim and her team figured them out to allow for customization too. Kim was easy to reach and super helpful to handle any concerns with her many years of planning expertise. Her and her team were also fun to work with and super responsible and professional, so the actual wedding day was extremely low stress. The vendors Ebeling Events arranged for us as a part of our package were all amazing: florist, catering, bartenders, cake, DJ, lighting, rentals, decor, shuttle, and security. Kim was also an incredible resource for connecting us with outside vendors, as we hired our photographer and make-up artist from her list of recommendations and they were stellar, too. The Ebeling Events team is so talented at what they do. We were extremely impressed when watching Kim form the schedule for the day, and her ability to coach and wrangle the families at our rehearsal was legendary, too. I got married in May 2023 and hired Kim to assist. She is responsive at the start, says all the right things when she's trying to get you to sign a contract with her. After that, it goes downhill - but that is precisely when it matters most. She didn't really help me throughout the planning process and wasn't proactive in asking me what I needed and what holes needed to be filled the months leading up to the wedding. Her package says it's month of coordination (or maybe she even refers to it as partial planning, which it definitely is not) but it's truly just day of. Her assistant was slow and she and Kim couldn't find stuff on the day of even though I had labeled all of the items and boxes clearly. She does the bare minimum and for what she charges, it is simply not worth it. If I hadn't been so organized and on top of it, I know my wedding wouldn't have gone well. *The month before our wedding, she acted super erratic on the day of our venue logistics meeting/walkthrough/tasting, talking very fast and way too much about random things totally unrelated to our wedding. It was like she was there to have fun and eat/drink as a guest rather than to be helping us take care of important business. We were embarrassed and uncomfortable by her behavior but I told my husband not to rock the boat because we had already signed a contract with her and I didn't want it to affect our wedding day. I kept having to redirect her to stay on task. She also kept talking about other couples she was working with and how she was annoyed with them changing their wedding plans by moving up their wedding date. I don't know why our wedding planner would be talking about that during our meeting. I had to do the same thing of keeping her on task during our actual rehearsal, because we needed to stay on schedule to get to our rehearsal dinner venue on time. She just kept chatting like she had all the time in the world. This seems like a pattern with her. Plain and simple, I should not have to follow up with and manage someone who has been hired to help me do that. *A week or so before our wedding I emailed her with some updates/questions and it took a week to respond. I understand she is probably busy but I didn't feel like she prioritized our wedding in general. If a key component of your work is communicating and liaising with your clients, especially when there are only days remaining before their big day, you should respond quicker than three business days, which is what she says her response time is. That's too long IMO especially for time sensitive matters. *Kim never obtained/provided the room or ceremony lawn layout and asked at the actual rehearsal for the wedding how I wanted the tables in the ballrooms arranged. It is unbelievable that she only thought to ask this important question less than one day before the wedding. This is pretty standard for what planners provide - in fact they often provide renderings/AutoCAD floorplans. She does neither. Again, something I had to do myself. *Our dog was in the ceremony. I told her who was responsible for picking him up and taking him to our place after the ceremony, and provided her name and number. Kim didn't pick up her call. When she told Kim she called, Kim said "oh that was you? I don't pick up numbers from different area codes." Okay, but I Iiterally provided this person's first and last name and her number beforehand to avoid this situation. Other vendors working our wedding said they tried to call her multiple times that day and she didn't pick up. That is super disappointing to hear. She also didn't pick up my calls! *She has a few rentals but I feel the pricing is misleading. She only told me after I agreed to rent chargers from her that there was a "$10 cleaning fee." It's not about the $10. It's about transparently including that info in her materials. I felt like she pulled a bait and switch over a few things she did related to the petty cash amount (that she requires). Overall I felt like she nickel and dimes clients to do things she should include as part of her services. The services she provides for the price are super bare bones. *She also did/said things that I felt were unprofessional like she made references multiple times to us being Jewish/referencing a chuppah (which we did not have) despite knowing we weren't Jewish. One time, okay, you can chalk it up to a mistake or some sort of confusion. But multiple times? I don't know what she meant by this--it made me feel like she didn't care and/or didn't even know how to tell her couples apart. She also made multiple spelling errors/typos in her master timeline document that I had to correct. The wedding is now over but the final timeline still has some spelling errors. If I could give zero stars, this is one business that I'd give it to. Our wedding occurred in October 2022 and we had an absolutely terrible experience with Kim / Ebeling Events as our wedding planner. Kim was incredibly unprofessional throughout, and it was clear that she did not prioritize our wedding day from start to end. Throughout the planning process, Kim was unresponsive and disorganized, often leaving us feeling like our wedding was not a priority and ultimately adding an extensive amount of stress to the whole process. We had to constantly follow up with her to ensure that tasks were completed and details were not overlooked. During our final venue walk-through, Kim began bad-mouthing another bride/client of hers (who was having her wedding at our same venue the week before ours) to my husband and parents. Kim continued to divulge that she also purposefully gave a ridiculously overpriced quote to a desperate bride that reached out to her at the last minute for her services so as to discourage the bride from hiring Kim's team since she "really did not want to work that wedding." We were completely shocked and appalled at the behavior and quite frankly, at the pride that exuded from Kim in giving a potential client / desperate bride such a hard time. All of this made us deeply uneasy about working with Kim but we felt stuck with her since we were one month out from the wedding. About two months before the wedding, Kim offloaded us onto one of her associates for our actual wedding day. We understand that lots of wedding planners do this. However, this was an issue for us only because Kim assured us that she would personally be working our wedding when we initially interviewed her for the job months beforehand. This was our only deal-breaker when choosing a coordinator so we never would have hired her if she could not guarantee that she would be at our wedding. We felt bait-and-switched but at that point, we had such little confidence in Kim's reliability that we didn't push back. Even more, after meeting our assigned coordinator over Zoom one time, we were warned that we were not allowed to reach out to her until the day of the wedding or else we would be charged an extra hourly rate for the coordinator's time. We were forced to continue to liaise only through Kim, even though she wouldn't be the person on-site at our wedding. And believe it or not, Kim's communication actually got spottier and she became even more difficult to reach leading up to the wedding. At one point, we had also opted to pay Kim's team to set up our dessert table. After a lot of back and forth insisting that her team could only set out our cake at the exact time we were cutting it (which was at 7:30 PM so it wasn't exactly that early in the evening), Kim snapped and told me that her team needed to focus on the job they were hired for that day--wedding coordination. It was baffling that Kim couldn't understand why we would want our cake displayed for at least 30 minutes before cutting straight into it (since we spent money designing the cake). It was all the more puzzling that she was acting like she was doing us a favor when the dessert table set-up as an additional $125 service that we paid for. Kim ended up apologizing to me on the phone for snapping at me because she was going through a personal issue. I can sympathize with a personal situation / off-day but her overall poor attitude and communication beyond just that one day is really not excusable. Our caterers heard about our situation and said "no problem, we will set out your cake and treats for free since it'll take us 10 minutes." I can't stress enough how our other amazing vendors filled in the gaps left by Kim. On the day of the wedding, Kim's team actually forgot to set out the table numbers that we rented from her, which caused confusion and frustration among our guests. When we brought this to Kim's attention after the wedding, she didn't even apologize for the error. Instead, she blamed that there was a lot going on that day, even though managing the event is her job as the wedding planner. Our entire team of vendors hustled to make our day seamless and my maid of honor had just one comment about our coordinators-- "where were they? I think I saw your coordinator only a handful of times sipping on some lemonade and relaxing." If you look at all my other wedding vendor reviews, you'll see that we gave everyone five out of five stars. Run for the hills when it comes to Ebeling Events and Kim. Even our venue owner called working with Kim a nightmare and did not want to see her working at his venue again. We were left feeling like we wasted our money on a service that was not delivered as promised, and that we had to deal with unnecessary drama, unprofessionalism and incompetence throughout the entire process. Overall, the experience was extremely stressful and dissatisfactory. We would never ever recommend Kim / Ebeling Events to anyone. read more

Kim was an excellent coordinator! She came on pretty late into the process as our prior coordinator cancelled on us, but she got dialed in immediately. She asked all good questions to get caught up and also ones we had not thought through yet. She had recommendations based on experience that were super helpful. She was super organized and nice! Since we started the process a bit on the early side she was gracious and patient from the very start. These attributes are very necessary when dealing with the public during an emotional moment in ones' life. Not all planners/coordinators have these traits. The best decision my husband and I made about our wedding was hiring a planner - specifically Kim. She made our lives so much easier and made wedding planning extremely stress-free. We hired her from the beginning all the way to the end. Throughout the 10 months we spent planning the wedding, my friends would often comment how relaxed I was and I would often say, "That's cause we have an amazing planner!" Kim was our eyes and ears on the ground in LA (we live in SF and the wedding was in Agoura Hills). She selected great vendors to work with and made everything on the day run smoothly. Not only that but she did an incredible job decorating the place for our wedding. Most people select a venue that's already done a wedding before, but in our case this was the first time we were having a wedding here and I was blown away by how beautiful Kim decorated everything. We also appreciated how flexible and attentive Kim was to helping us, especially on the days up to the wedding. I remember feeling stressed out about the the hair and makeup schedule and the additional people we added to it, but Kim was able to work something out with our vendors. We also appreciated how meticulous and detail oriented Kim was, down to planning events to the exact minute. We could enjoy the wedding and savor every moment because of all the hard work Kim put in the background making sure things were running. My husband and I met Kim when we happened to check out an event open house (made to look like a wedding) that she coordinated at The Audubon Center at Debs Park, which is near a hiking trail we frequent. We were loosely looking to plan a wedding, but the moment we saw how Kim had set up The Audubon Center, we could completely envision having our wedding there! We had been to The Audubon Center before, but were surprised by how everything could come together to create a beautiful space for a wedding. I think this speaks to her attention to detail, creativity, and intuition for how a space can be set up and utilized. We booked Kim for day of/month of coordination. We had no idea what we were walking into with wedding planning, but Kim made herself available to us to answer questions through texts and emails even before the month of the wedding. Once we approached the month of our wedding, Kim communicated with us frequently and met with us to bring all the scattered pieces of our own wedding planning together. To be honest, my husband and I were so worried about how all these various pieces would come together (we're not the most organized people), but once Kim took charge, we became so much more excited (and less stressed) as we saw our wedding vision unfold! Kim was always professional, flexible, and communicative. I also personally appreciated how clear and direct Kim's communicative style was. I think this is a very important trait when looking for a wedding coordinator, because they have to work with various vendors and family members who can have differing opinions. However, at the end of the day, you want a coordinator who stays grounded in carrying out the vision of the couple rather than being pulled in different directions. My husband and I had a great time at our wedding, and guests made similar remarks. Once the wedding began, neither my husband nor I noticed much of anything going on behind the scenes, because Kim took care of everything to make everything seamless and smooth. This really allowed us to be fully present during our day. Looking back, Kim did so much more for us than what was included in the services we booked her for. Of course, no one should expect someone to do more than what they're paid for--everyone should always be paid for their knowledge, skill, and expertise! Full disclosure: I have not actually experienced the wonder that is Kim's work actually coordinating a wedding. However, what I can say is Kim has a huge heart and is ready to jump as soon as you say how high. Let me explain (briefly): I was a bridesmaid in a wedding that took place this weekend. It was supposed to be up in Carpenteria where, earlier in the week, there were some pretty horrific/tragic mudslides, rendering the venue inaccessible. I, along with about 8 others involved with the wedding, jumped on the phone calling venues all over Southern CA trying to find a new, last-minute location for the wedding. As a result of these calls, ​I ended up in contact with Kim. She was ready to step in and help in whatever way needed. She joined the chain of people on the phone and called up a few contacts of hers (some being venues we hadn't been able to reach--but she had personal contact from whom she got responses). Though the bride and groom ended up going with another venue and not needing Kim's services, it meant a WHOLE lot knowing there were experienced people like her out there with hearts as big as their contact lists, ready to step in and help plan a wedding in three days. Though I don't know the extent of her talents, I would recommend Kim just based on her willingness to jump in, ability to flex, heart to serve, follow-through/ responsiveness, and her in with venues and vendors in the So Cal area. This review is long overdue, but we love you Kim! Honestly one of the best experiences of our wedding. Kim and her team were very attentive to our needs (even the ones we didn't know we had) and willing to do whatever needed to be done to make our wedding a success. She was in constant contact with us, helping us and reminding us of all the small things I'm sure I would have forgotten about. If you're planning your big day, I would recommend Kim and her services, eyes closed. We owe a big shoutout to Kim Ebeling, our fantastic day-of wedding coordinator! So our venue requires a coordinator, and we were stumped. Pretty much anybody could offer their services as a wedding coordinator & charge you $$$, but are they really worth it? As luck would have it, I noticed on Facebook that Kim started a new career as a coordinator! What set Kim apart was her extensive background in hospitality and HR; her professionalism; and her leadership skills. (Also a huge stroke of luck that she had recently moved, very close to where our venue was located). All the stars aligned. I wish I had some crazy story, like my dress caught on fire, and Kim whipped out a fire extinguisher, but on the day-of, if anything went wrong, I was blissfully unaware (which is good, because I had a full-time job of smiling). I am just glad that I didn't have to organize the rehearsal, because Kim led that. I'm glad that I doubled the cake order, because it turned out to be pretty darn popular & some people ate 3 slices, and it was Kim's advice not to under-order on it. I'm glad that she was there at the venue meetings to ask them questions I never thought of, and push back on things like alcohol cut-off times and unnecessary costs. Our wedding was this past September 2017 at The Ebell of Los Angeles. We hired Kim to coordinate the day for us after meeting her and loving her good energy and personality. She was such a pleasure to work with. We had some snags leading up to the big day (which I'm sure is normal) and she was such a big help and kept our stress levels down. Kim is an amazing wedding planner, and she definitely exceeded my expectations! I hired her as my day-of coordinator for my wedding in June 2016, so I only had a handful of conversations with her in the months leading up to the wedding, but once the wedding week started, she was super organized, helpful, and insightful, and always available. She offered great suggestions on the flow of the wedding, and she directed the rehearsal very skillfully. I was blown away on the day of the wedding by how helpful and on top of things she was. It seemed like she was everywhere at once, yet remained completely calm and soothing. Whenever the wedding started to deviate from my timeline, Kim helped me figure out how to respond and whether to let it slide or to try to make up for lost time. She never imposed her plans on me but was always available to answer my questions and offer suggestions.
