Man, I love this place! It's a staple in Des Moines. I love the diversity of food at Eatery A. They have great pizza and I love their Mediterranean dishes. I really enjoy coming here and I like their beverage selection as well.
A place that has nice fluffy pancakes and an appetizing dish similar to a grilled chicken gyro can be found at Eatery A on Ingersoll in DSM. My waiter staffer -- Shelynn was very prompt in delivering my order to my specifications. The upscale atmosphere is suitable for any group size with creative entrees at reasonable prices. Good food, good service and a good atmosphere with good prices.
As always, wonderful! I particularly love the pizza with jalapeños, chorizo, and pineapple. The sweet corn ravioli was so delicious! Their happy hour is the best around, hands down. I may literally leave the state if Eatery A ever closes. But they won't, because they're so popular and so good!
Hasn't been here for a while so we stopped in with another couple for dinner. Got right in on a Tuesday without a reservation. My wife and I split a bottle of wine-they have a pretty good selection to choose from. For dinner I got the Gyro. It had chopped lamb, which was a different twist, but it was pretty good. My wife got the Hangar Steak. It was tasty and came with a generous portion of fingerling potatoes and Brussels Sprouts. The other couple got a pizza and Fig and Pear Bruschetta. Their pizzas are always good and the Bruschetta was tasty too. Our server Reagan was excellent-checked in on us regularly and was very personable. Good menu with a lot of variety. Great patio too when the weather cooperates!
A must stop if you're in Des Moines. My brother went to Drake so we'd always go to Eatery A when we'd visit. Last time I'd been was his graduation almost 8 years ago. I was so excited to eat here again and it was as good as I remember. We came for brunch and the #4 pizza hit the spot. My favorite thing on the menu will forever and always be the salted caramel budino. It's perfect and one of my top desserts, and I'm a dessert person. Get the salted caramel budino and thank me later. Service was lovely and its calm vibes in there.
Haven't been here in a while but noticed some changes on their menu, such as the spinach rigatoni! I think it was flavorful and came with a side of bread. Service was good. Lots of traction in the area, which makes sense this place is popular. Parking continues around the building to exit! I kinda wish they had signs out there so people aren't squeezing their cars with each other.
Great pizza. Good casual vibe. Great service. Big menu so plenty of options. Unique twists on classic food options.
Eatery A offers a fun place to dine. The room is modern, stylish and very comfortable. The restaurant was very busy but the noise level was not loud at all. I had a great salad that tasted great. My friend and I enjoyed pizza that had incredible crust. We share a dessert that I am still thinking about. Our server was very sweet but our service was spotty. She seemed to disappear a lot. There is a small parking lot that was full of so we parked on the street 2 blocks away. It was a nice easy walk.
Stopped in for impromptu lunch. 2nd time we've been here now. Very welcoming and inviting venue. Love the layout and patio and bar area. Very updated and clean. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I had a mimosa which was actually one of the better ones I've had now. And had the pepperoni pizza. Was way better than we expected for dinner he reasonable prices. Delicious. Watched an entire charcuterie board being built as well. Very interesting and will definitely be back again.
Eatery A is a vibe. However, it can get loud due to the openness of the space and the closeness of the table. I had the pizza before but this time I wanted to try something different so we went for the Shrimp, Chicken Shawarma, and Sirloin skewers. They were each perfectly paired and I finally tried hummus which was delicious with the Chicken. I also had a mocktail which was just ok, needed more sugar as I like my drinks sweet. For desert I had a Affogato, I'm obsessed! It was so delicious! I went home and tried to make my own, it didn't taste the same haha The server seemed a little uninterested, almost like it was a long day. Never got a smile and she was very slow. Totally get it, hopefully she was able to get some rest. Parking isn't the best. I was there on a Friday evening and the parking lot was full. Be prepared to find alternative parking if you're not there early. Overall I'd go back.
For the past four weeks, I have met a group for lunch here and I had four different things with still more choices for vegetarians I wasn't able to sample! First up was the Avocado bowl with quinoa, farro, salsa verde, and fennel slaw. So much goodness but even though I was hungry, I couldn't finish it! The next week I had the smashed avocado toast without the soft egg. The tomatoes on top could have been chopped a little finer and they kept falling off the bread but it was tasty. Third time I had the Cauliflower and Chickpea falafel and my eyes popped out of my head when I saw how big the plate was! It was served with Sumac flatbread, pickled veggies, hummus, and fattoush. Again, I couldn't finish it! Last visit, I tried the (I think) #4 pizza with feta, green onions, Kalamata olives, and blistered tomatoes. I am a bit of a pizza snob but this pizza was very good! We ate outside one week where we had to contend with traffic noise but the heat had us inside the other three weeks. It is a bit dark inside and while I liked the music, it was a bit too loud for conversation with our group of six. We had two different servers that I recall but the last two weeks we had Shaelynn and she was excellent. Personable and efficient. No photos since I was focused on my group. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food. I will need to return to try the other vegetarian options but the group is moving to a new location next time.
A fabulous daddy daughter date night. My oldest is a Vegetarian so I work hard to find quality spots when she and I go.out. Eatery A delivers a fabulous experience, awesome food and so much more. We ordered every vegetable other than the olives. I opened my mind a little bit and now I am a huge fan of Baba ghanoush. The lamb sliders I had were simply outstanding in the crème brûlée was incredible. Probably the most surprising thing for me as we sat on the patio where the flatbreads we used to dip in our dishes. It made me realize how good their pizzas must be. We will be back to take a run at those cool pizzas. read more

I've come to Eatery A many times because they simply have the best happy hour in Des Moines! We made reservations ahead of time for 5:15 and were seated right away. Our waitress was very nice and although we didn't see her too much, it wasn't necessary! The place was packed and so that's more than understandable. We ordered 3 pizzas and all were piping hot when they came out and delicious. We love the pizzas here and when you can't decide which ones to order, you order 3 and plan for leftovers. We also each had a glass of wine which is part of their happy hour specials. We sat in the main dining area and it was very crowded and loud which isn't ideal but that's okay! Parking was rough, we had to park a couple blocks away on the street but no big deal. We'll of course be back many many times. read more

Eatry A has great happy hour specials on their pizza. I have been down there many times for that. We went just past the dinner rush time on a sat. We were able to get seated right away. We ordered a pizza and the burshetta. I had never had the burshetta before it was great. The pizza was good. It's not the best I had had there. It was a little "toastier" on the edges that I prefer, but it was still good. read more
This is a staple of Des Moines! It's a great atmosphere. Ate here on a Friday night to celebrate birthdays. Be sure to get a reservation, because it's busy on a Friday night. Food is delicious. Note, there is not a children's menu, but can order plain spaghetti marinara, etc. I've also been for their great happy hour! I love their unique pizzas! The bacon covered dates are amazing as well. Happy hour specials are amazing! $10 pizzas and $4 glasses of wine.. can't beat that! Parking lot is small and reservations are recommended. Big menu. Ambiance is dark and noisy as it is an open kitchen. Outside seating is available. read more
Came here with a group of friends for happy hour on Friday evening. This restaurant is on Ingersoll, which is its own little district of DSM and has many local restaurants. Parking was difficult to find, but found a spot within the block. We got seated right away and our waitress took care of us well. For happy hour all beer and wine are 50% off and pizzas are 50% off as well. I believe it runs from 2-6pm. I ordered a custom pizza (slight up-charge) and got pepperoni, pineapple, and hot honey. Our food came relatively quick and hot. The pizza was so good, full of flavor, and I liked the fluffy crust. It was good overall, but I wouldn't pay full price for the food, so we may come back for happy hours in the future. read more
Eatery A is one of my favorite restaurants in Des Moines and is always a must stop for me when I am home. I love their Alfredo and they also have great pizza options. Eatery A has a great happy hour from 3-6 with half price pizza, wine, and beer. The restaurant is large and has a modern but welcoming environment. Eatery also has a great patio to enjoy when the weather is nice! read more

Eatery A has some of the best pizza I've had in my entire life. Wonderfully loaded with meats (#10 pizza) and the hot honey ties everything together. Baked in a wood fired oven and cheese bubbling to perfection. I also got to try the Moroccan beef kofta, which had a deep rich flavor. I can't say I was a huge fan of the farro, it just still tasted bland despite all the flavors and ingredients going on. I think I tasted golden raisins and dates. The menu said it came with flatbread but I didn't get any. I also didn't taste any pomegranate in the dish, but it's listed on the menu description. The service was OK, I had to wait about 25 minutes for a cocktail after the server asked if I wanted another. The server was good and friendly at the beginning but then after the food came I feel like we didn't see her again. I loved the atmosphere and vibe, modern and urban but accessible. read more

My sister brought me here for happy hour on a visit to the city over the weekend and we had a great time! I had the #8 pizza which is basically like a Hawaiian pizza & it was delicious. The hot honey isn't really hot at all, it really just adds to the flavor. For only $10 during happy hour (all pizzas are half priced), it was a really great deal! On a Saturday during happy hour, the place got pretty packed but our server was still on top of things. It is really nice inside the restaurant as well. On our way through the town we stopped by this restaurant as it had good vegetarian options. While I wouldn't call this restaurant Mediterranean, there were many options to choose from. We enjoyed Shrimp & Grits, Asparagus & Leek Grain Bowl, and a #2 Pizza. We were seated initially outside (plenty of seating) when the clouds opened up and rained down. We were welcomed inside with no problem and seated right away. I enjoyed the atmosphere and cozy, warm environment. Our waitress was excellent and attentive. read more

Went to Eatery A last night. Good service. Ordered meatballs Potatoes gratin Steak, pork, and shrimp skewers. 3 for 34 for the skewers which is a pretty good deal. Each skewer had its own bed of grits or potato toes. For desert we split a chocolate torte and a strawberry pot. I didn't care for the shrimp since the home made hot sauce was a bit much. Enjoyed it very much although the loudness made it a bit hard to converse and the aforementioned shrimp skewer was a miss. Pizzas looked good and I would love to go back and try. read more

Updated review because we found our pizza! The latest #12 (spinach, artichokes, feta, blistered tomatoes, white sauce and we added mushrooms). It was delicious and well prepared. Whoever made this spread the toppings closer to the edges rather than dumping them in the center only, which has been my gripe in the past. Not much spinach, but the added mushrooms filled in nicely. Eatery A is a lot of locals go-to for a nice meal out. The drinks are tasty, the mood is nice, and the food is delicious. In the past, I've gotten the Spanish Octopus and Papas Bravas, which are both delicious. The stand out here is the pizza menu. Pizzas are half price during happy hour (2pm-6pm every day). There are SO many delicious pizzas to choose from. Luckily, they let you do half and half for $1.99 extra. My go-tos are the #15 (spinach, goat cheese, honey, red onion, olive oil), and the #12 (mushroom, soft egg, truffle oil, and white sauce.) My boyfriend gets the #10 (essentially a meat lover's pizza with hot honey) and it's amazing. One thing-- parking can be challenging to find if their lot is full. Give yourself a bit of extra time to park. They also don't seat your party unless everyone is there. read more

I came here thinking I'd get a late lunch but I was pleasantly surprised that they ha. 3pm! With that came bottomless mimosas at just $16.99!! The place has a very rustic ambiance and wasn't too loud either. It has booths, high top tables and regular tables, so an option for everyone. The menu is vast and has a ton of vegetarian options, which was great. I ordered spicy potato bravas which were the right amount of spicy, right there in the middle. The quantity is not excessive and perfect for a 1 person appetizer. As an entree I ordered an asparagus and sweet corn grain bowl. Let me tell you, the presentation was exquisite. I chose the egg option and the eggs were perfectly poached and over easy. I loved my experience and the service is absolutely outstanding. At the last minute I decided to order a strawberry pot de creme to top off my meal, absolutely amazing!! read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday, glad we were able to make reservations on line as it was quite busy. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. We really enjoyed the cauliflower, carrots and especially the fiery baba ghanoush! Lots of gluten free options and gluten free crust for the pizza. The pizzas are tasty. I loved mine and tried my wife's gluten free, great crust for gluten free. Of course the gluten is so much tastier. Love the Mediterranean tastes. They have a really nice cocktail menu as well. Next time I'm in town I'd love to be back! read more

This place has the best Pizza in Des Moines hands down! I went there for brunch and got the crab cake Benedict and it was delicious. It came with your choice of side and I got the seasoned potato's and they were seasoned so well! It's also has a great atmosphere with and open kitchen with a brick oven they cook the pizzas in. read more

When I first walked in I lost my breathe and almost peed a little. The AMBIANCE. The Perfectly groomed staff. The absolutely meticulous thoughtfulness seeps thru the airwaves as you are chauffeured to your seat. I could have sworn I was floating until I looked down and remembered I peed a little The foreplay is outstanding. The menu is outstanding. The food arrived and again wow. This is truly a gem of Des Moines. Unreal food. Unreal food. The food was unreal. I can't even believe how unreal the food was. Unreal. Truly and remarkably unreal. I had the soup. Can't remember what it was called, but it doesn't matter. How you do one thing is how you do everything. I also had a salad a beer and a pizza. These guys get it. Fairly priced (honestly way cheaper than it should have been) Incredible food. Arguably the coolest spot in Des Moines.
