You know, it gives gourmet without being pretentious. The bakery alone puts Common Bond in this category. If you can resist dessert order from the display case, I'm not sure you're human! The visuals and smells are always inviting, but the execution is not consistent. This time, in addition to my savory picks, It's been awhile so I thought I'd revisit my Common Bond review. This location is such a score for City Place. The only caffeine dealer apart from Starbucks walkable from the plaza, it's easy to see why patrons choose Common Bond.

I'd been to one in Houston before, but just for coffee, but I had a good experience there, so I was down to try their food. There were a ton of great sweet and savory options on the menu, so ordering was a challenge, but we ended up grabbing a pretty big combination of both types of sustenance. Savory: I ordered the breakfast burger and it was really great. Normally I feel like an egg takes away from the flavor of a burger, but that was not the case here. I'm really pleased with my choice here, despite the temptation to go with several alternatives. 5-stars. My wife ordered the soft scramble, and I'll give it this: it was most definitely the softest, most gentle collection of eggs I've ever eaten. But I think I like my rendition of scrambled eggs better. 4-stars. Sweet: Pistachio Croissant: All boxes checked. 5-stars. Snickerdoodle Cookie: I offer all of my praise for this delight. 5-stars. Gingerbread whoopie pie: It wasn't called a whoopie pie, but that's what it was. Like the snickerdoodle cookie, I'm mad I had to share this. 5-stars. Coco-nut cookie: We thought this was a chocolate coconut cookie, but it turns out it was chocolate and nuts. Knowing this information, we would have opted for one of the other, more delicious looking cookies. It was still fine though. 3.5-stars. Drinks: I ordered the dragon fruit berry concoction with my meal, and in a rare moment of weakness, I couldn't resist the maple pecan cold brew, despite ordering black coffee 99% of the time. I'm here to say I enjoyed both of them very much, but the latter did taste more like a milkshake than a coffee. 5-stars for both, but I would definitely order the dragonfruit thing again. Way to go, Common Bond. Here I thought you were just a coffee place this whole time, but your food is pretty, pretty good too.

This Galleria location on San Felipe in particular is convenient for me because I have a friend that lives in the apartments that this location is connected to. You can't go wrong with any of their pastries here. My favorites are their almond croissant, kouign-amann, sticky bun, and so much more. Pair your pastry with one of their made to order lattes and you're in for a great breakfast treat. Thanks common bond for being consistently tasty, no matter which location you go to. Yes, their prices are on the higher side, but you do get quality when you come here. Enjoy!

Also beer and wine options. This used to be a Local Foods so it is larger than the other CB real estate options. Super spacious where you're not having to be right next to another table. It's very spread out and a bit busier around lunch time but still plentiful. There's also an upstairs seating area with maybe ~9 tables. Great for a little quieter. There was a group of ladies playing mahjong, love. There is free retail parking available in the adjoining garage, just a quick walk through the courtyard shared with the apartments, spa and other restaurant. Common bond isn't my first choice for coffee but for overall rating this is superb. Will be coming back when I'm in the area 100%

So relaxed as a matter of fact, I've yet to see this place crowded on any weekday or weekend. * The WiFi is fast and reliable. This alone is why I'll end up staying here without consuming at least 3 drinks in a single sitting. * There is plenty of seating. Outdoor seating is extensive and the interior is super group friendly. * Iced lattes skew on the sweeter side, but their cold brew also gets a thumbs up. * There is a dedicated meeting room / isolated space for meetings / meetups. That's big time. * Don't feel like stopping in? There's a drive-thru. * Customer service is on point. They're fast, courteous, and super friendly. * The ventilation is right and the place is clean. Especially the bathrooms. This is a winner in terms of a coffeeshop space. I realize the vibe isn't' for everyone, but it's one of the main reasons why I'll find myself in this space more often than not.

The parking is ample since it shares a parking lot with several small businesses along a shopping strip with includes restaurants, bank, and a large grocery store (HMart). The ambiance is very impressive. The space is larger than expected with a lot of seating. Their bakery goods look delicious and most taste delicious. I would say their cakes are good but way too expensive. Some have a hole in the middle (like a Bundt cake) making me wonder if it's to save money on ingredients or just a cool thing that bakeries do for certain cakes. My latest adventure there was trying the chocolate hazelnut layer cake with Nutella. It was good but not great. Lines were decently long on a Saturday evening after dinner time so business is good. Service was fine. Enjoy!
