Why can't the customer service people just tell the customers how to do this for "free" over the phone? Because they want you to spend $209.90 on instructions they should have given you for "free" when buying this very expensive system. Here are the proper instructions, so you do not have to waste $209.90. Proper Instructions for Changing out a Water Filter for the Blue Canister hooked up to your Water Softener: 1). Close hot water valve. 2). DO NOT close cold water valve. 3). DO NOT PRESS THE RED BUTTON on top of the blue canister!!! 4). Run hot water out in sink. 5). Unscrew blue canister. Remove and replace water filter. 6). Screw blue canister back on. 7). Turn on hot water valve. 8). Run hot water. Check for leaks. DO NOT PRESS THE RED BUTTON on top of the blue canister!!! While the initial price (~$6000) was high, the ability to avoid continuously adding salt seemed to make it worthwhile. We are on well water and after testing EarthSmarte said they could handle all the iron in our water as well as removing the calcium. Once they installed the system, however, we quickly found out that their system was in fact not up to the task. After some back and forth, and some adjustments, EarthSmarte declared that we would need to add in a salt-based softener (at a cost of $380) to address the issue, putting us right back where we started, except with a less efficient and less effective system. In the end we were out a lot of money, and had nothing to show for it.

He advised they could come check the water softener and change my filters together the very next day! Paul the tech arrived promptly first thing the next morning. He tested my water and explained the readings to me. He also found the source of the problem with the water softener very quickly and had the part available on his truck. He repaired it, then explained in detail what the problem was. I really appreciated his thoroughness and for telling me more about my unit. As per their warranty (7 years parts and labor), the water softener repair was no charge and the filters with installation were ~$150. I continue to be very pleased with Cooper's and their staff.
