The staff took the carrier and cleaned it up and lined it with puppy pads for the return trip home. How awesome is that!! We have recently adopted a kitten that was a rescue by one of the staff members. It's clear to us by the way things were handled that the entire staff here truly cares about taking care of our furry friends. They have helped us with our new fur babies and we really feel like they are always there for us during our transition and getting these critters good and healthy. Bless the entire staff here at Winter Garden Animal Hospital... and just know that your pet will be in very good hands.

During a visit for my 11-year-old dog, I was by Dr. MacDonald that my dog has liver cancer with multiple tumors, congestive heart failure and that euthanasia should be considered. No biopsy or referral to a specialist was offered and I was not shown or walked through the ultrasound results. I was told no follow-up appointments were needed and was given euthanasia pamphlets. I left completely devastated. After the visit, I called the clinic requesting my dog's records. Because the file is under another name, communication had to go through that person. When we received the records, they did not mention cancer or the ultrasound findings. We were initially told the ultrasound recordings were not available. I had to request the records again through email and specifically ask for the ultrasound findings. Eventually, we received notes referencing a "suspected" liver or splenic mass and stating that my dog was vomiting which was not true. The notes also mentioned seeing a specialist if interested but this was never discussed during the visit. I also had major difficulties with my dog's heart medication. I was told that refills typically take 24 to 48 hours and that heart medications are usually expedited. Since refills cannot be processed over the weekend, we had to wait until Monday to call. We emphasized that this was a heart-related medication, were told the request would be expedited and submitted the request on 12/22 around 8:15 a.m. It took two days and a call from the office /practice manager before we could pick up her medication on Christmas Eve. Because of the delay, we had to go to VEG to get my dog's medication and she was in distress. Since starting the treatment plan we had to request because we did not agree to euthanasia, my dog has been doing great. She is eating, drinking, playing and going to the bathroom normally. We were referred to an internal medicine specialist and a cardiologist by another vet for a second opinion. The internal medicine specialist confirmed that my dog does NOT have cancer and walked us through each ultrasound finding step by step. We also have an upcoming appointment with the cardiologist. Our experience highlighted serious concerns. The first suggestion was euthanasia rather than further investigation. No referrals or second opinions were offered. Communication around records and critical medication was slow and inconsistent. While the staff may have had good intentions, this experience has been distressing and costly. My dog is doing well thanks to proper follow-up care but I hope the clinic takes steps to prevent similar situations for other pet owners.

TLDR: SO happy we made this change from our previous vet. Staff really do seem to care about your…read morefurry family members. Thorough and quick response to my questions. Knowledgeable vet too. REVIEW: I had put off getting my baby kitty with a new practice. Admittedly, it was a combination of things (kitty had just been seen in November with no health issues, hates the vet, and just lost our other cat), where I really was dragging on that process. My husband's coworker referred us to Chain of Lakes Animal Clinic. She was really happy with them, and we figured we'd give them a shot with their near perfect reviews. My kitty had excessively groomed off a piece of fur, and I really wanted to have her seen ASAP. Maryann was so kind and very detailed in the new patient process. I first talked to her late in the afternoon. The policy about waiting about three weeks (for new appointments) makes sense because there's only a finite amount of time, and it seems like they want to make sure to set aside time for established patients. There is also a prepayment since they explained that there had been an uptick of cancellations last minute (also makes sense because that's a spot that can't always be filled). One VERY helpful point is that they reach out to your previous vet and get prior medical records from the old vet. Solid way to make sure they know the best way to take care of your furry family member. So I made my appointment three weeks out, but I also asked to be put on a waitlist. In the mean time, I was given some recommendations about the potential cause for the hair loss. Turns out they were right about the hair loss, so we got that issue taken care of. But I STILL wanted my kitty to be seen. I was called around 11 a.m., and they left a voicemail telling me a cancellation had come up. The one minor gripe I had was not telling me what the potential appointment time (2:45 p.m.) was so I could try to coordinate if someone could bring kitty in for a visit. But so minor given the TLC in other aspects. My overall wait time had been just less than a week (from filling out the paperwork to getting seen as a new patient). My husband was the one who brought our kitty in for a visit, so his short review was that our kitty did very well at the vet. I was so surprised because she usually hates the vet. Everything was very thorough, and he was really pleased with the visit. They also followed up via text four days later to see how my kitty was responding to treatment. So so so happy to see this. Please don't change that. Thank you guys for giving me such reassurance after leaving my previous vet practice under horrible circumstances. I am definitely not regretting my change.

Yes great vet and office. Kind to kitties. A little out of the way for us. But I like them!!read more

My Max is a 94lb. goofball, he does not like people controlling him or checking his ears or anything. The vet got on the floor with him and got friendly enough to check and clean his ears. The assistant was very professional and managed to get Max to behave for her. The price was not much more than a regular vet visit, and so much easier than hauling this big guy back and forth to the vet. Customer service was very helpful. I highly recommend this service, especially if going to the vet is difficult or stressful for your baby.

As we were concluding and trying to complete the process of getting the needed prescriptions, the professionalism wasn't there. A business that had no business card?? The DVM no card. I would have to wait to receive the bill to see the DVM name printed out! They had no prescription pad or means to immediately send me the prescriptions! I was TOLD I had to have my pet pharmacy contact them! They wouldn't (couldn't) submit to my requested pet pharmacy! Even after I called to have MY pet pharmacy call them if took a week to get a response! Glad my cats weren't actually ill! Now, this is a franchise service out of Dallas, TX. Someone is getting short changed. But they won't earn another star until improvements made! Oh. They kept sending an email asking for a review but when I tried to reply I would get "not deliverable!

A huge RAVE to both Veterinary Emergency Clinic of Central Florida in Oakland and West Orange…read moreVeterinary Hospital in Winter Garden for saving my dog today. A few days ago we found him almost lifeless, vomitting. This was happening before WOVH was open, and as VECOCF was about to close. I rushed him over anyway, and they took him right in and ran all kinds of tests. Long story short, they believe he ingested something toxic/poisonous along one of his walks. Once VECOCF got him somewhat stable, I transferred him to WOVH, which is his usual vet. I cannot thank Stephanie, Robert (Vet Techs) and Dr. Markwardt enough for their response. They are always caring, thorough, and best of all - they build relationships with the dog, so they know when he is/is not acting himself. I'm happy to report that Oswald is back home with us, safe and sound.

The vet had a dental hygienist that cleaned, checked and removed all the plaque from my pups teeth and she is good to go.....price $170. Unbelievable. The thought of being taken advantage of and possibly putting my pet under anesthesia and them pulling her teeth out makes me ill. So glad I got that 2nd opinion.
