They will show you prices for everything prior to performing anything, and they've also given me different alternatives with different pricing if I wasn't looking to spend an arm and a leg on a procedure.

They take appointments and also walk ins. My dog had a serious illness and the office was closed when he was so bad that I had to put him to sleep. Even though they did not handle this part of my pet's lifecycle, they sent me a nice sympathy card. They have their own pet's you might see while visiting the clinic. Recently I met a lady in the waiting room. She was fostering an animal for a rescue and shared how the staff had been attentive and helped her even though the charity was not understanding the animal's issues. Reasons why I recommend this Vet Clinic: 1) Years of experience 2) They will help work you in if they can the same day you contact them 3) Caring staff that have a customer and pet first attitude. They have the chart out and address you and the Pet by name. 4) In the age where you can do a lot of tests, they try to help you and obtain the tests that are necessary. When they feel additional testing is required, they present the options and possible outcomes to help you decide. I love that they take the time with each pet owner. I know another reviewer was not happy with an experience but I find that they do fact based diagnosis. I did get a new dog and before they saw her they asked that I bring any available vaccination and documentation so that we would not redo shots and they could pick the best treatment plan. If you are looking for a great Vet choose Michigan Street. It looks like a small building from the street, but it serves a staff with a big heart. They offer overnight care and surgery as well.

Between Leroy's extensive treatment and the veterinary care paid for by his owner, Joe, and those who helped with his recovery, a substantial amount of money has been spent with this practice. That made today's interaction particularly disappointing. The irony is that earlier today, while waiting at Ocoee Animal Hospital, I posted a positive Facebook update about Leroy's progress and checked in at the hospital feeling happy. He had gained another two pounds, and I was genuinely pleased with how far he has come. I certainly did not walk in looking for a confrontation or with any existing complaint about the quality of his care. Ocoee Animal Hospital has a policy charging clients $50 if they are more than 15 minutes late. I have never been late for an appointment. Unfortunately, long waits for the doctor have been a recurring issue, and today I waited approximately one hour. What made the delay even harder to understand was that there were no cars in the parking lot while I was there. I understand that appearances do not always tell the whole story and that veterinary practices can get backed up for many reasons, but from a client's perspective, waiting an hour in what appeared to be a quiet practice was frustrating. When Dr. Close finally came in, I raised the issue calmly and, frankly, more diplomatically than I sometimes do. I simply pointed out that if the practice expects clients to respect its time enough to impose a $50 late fee, it seems reasonable for the practice to show the same respect for its clients' time. I explained that the recurring wait times were actually why Leroy's owner, Joe, could not bring him today. He could not afford to lose that much time waiting, so I volunteered to bring Leroy instead. I suggested that perhaps the practice was overbooking appointments. Rather than acknowledge the concern, apologize for the delay, or simply discuss it professionally, Dr. Close became defensive and told me not to come back. I was genuinely stunned by that response. I was not angry, confrontational, or questioning her medical ability. In fact, I was unusually measured in how I raised what I thought was a legitimate customer-service concern. My opinion of the practice changed only after that conversation. A veterinary practice is certainly entitled to expect clients to arrive on time. Clients are equally entitled to expect reasonable respect for their own time, especially when the practice imposes a financial penalty for being late. After the amount of time, trust, and money that has gone into Leroy's care there, being told not to return simply because I raised that concern was unnecessary, unprofessional, and deeply disappointing. I won't be returning, as requested.

I get that they might not always know, but this is now a pattern and I'm tired of bringing my cats back to the vet over and over again and they never find the underlying issue. It's not just one time or one cat, it's all the time. I feel like I get a better diagnosis on my own using AI. They don't ask the right questions, they don't follow through and they just want to charge me lots of money for NOTHING. They love giving prescriptions just to try them out to see if they will work. Is this how a HUMAN doctor works? I know the cat cannot tell us what is wrong, but seriously, let's not just start drugging them hoping it will work. Also the vet didn't bother to look at my cat's records before examining him because she would have noted this issue before and blood tests were done before. She did another blood test and guess what? Dr. Adam Honeckman is a board certified SPECIALIST, a Diplomate of the American College of…read moreVeterinary Internal Medicine. He performed an ultrasound on one of our companion animals. Many people erroneously believe (us included, in the past) that AVS, aka Affiliated Veterinary Specialists, is the only place where one can have a gastroduodenal endoscopy, colonoscopy, or ultrasound performed on their companion animal. Unless your veterinarian happens to inform you about Dr. Honeckman, you would have no way of knowing that he even exists. If you wish your companion to have either of those tests, or to see an internal medicine veterinary SPECIALIST, there are indeed, other choices other than AVS, aka Affiliated Veterinary Specialists. Dr. Honeckman's written report after doing a procedure is akin to what one would see in 'human' medicine. (and I always get copies of all reports for our human family members as well) ...i.e., it is very thorough, extremely detailed, and gives valid reasons for his recommendations. For example, he lists findings, physical examination, assessment, and recommendations in great detail, as one would expect if they themselves were having the same test done, instead of the test being done on their companion animal. If your primary care veterinarian refers you to AVS for endoscopy or ultrasound, please at least consider calling Dr. Honeckman as an alternative, as he is a board certified specialist, and a Diplomate of the ACVIM. Dr. Honeckman is a mobile vet, and from our experience, very good and very thorough. Granted, there are certain tests like MRI, etc, that can only be performed at AVS, but from past experience, it is our opinion that your companion animal would get much better care /diagnostics from Dr. Honeckman than from the veterinarians at AVS. (particularly some of those in the internal medicine dept., i.e. Marika Laszlo and Susan Randell) And with Dr. Honeckman, you can be assured that the first person that your companion sees is a board certified specialist and not an intern or a DVM. They gave my senior pup a second chance--and spared me a financial nightmare…read more My 15-year-old dog was suffering from a decayed teeth and front canine that had developed a fistula, causing nonstop nasal discharge and reverse sneezing. On top of that, he has heart disease, so my regular vet was hesitant to put him under anesthesia. Even if I found someone willing to do the procedure, the cost was going to be astronomical--X-rays, sedation, multiple extractions, fistula flush, stitches, meds, and follow-ups. I was looking at thousands. Thankfully, my vet recommended Helping Hands. This clinic specializes in surgical and dental procedures all day, every day--and it shows. They're efficient, experienced, and because of their high volume, they offer truly reasonable pricing without compromising care. They handled everything with skill and compassion, and the entire process was streamlined and professional. My dog is now doing great (heart condition aside)--no more nasal issues, no more pain, and no more reverse sneezing. He has his spirt back and plays again.
