I actually looked for him to ask him why, since there were several open spots nearby. But couldn't find him. About ten minutes later he returned and drove away. Many patrons at a nearby business witnessed this. He was actually confronted by several of them. Why is downtown Anchorage dead. It's Easy Park! I came downtown brought quarters to avoid paying an additional fee. Went to my meter put the coins in and walked away! Came back to a ticket saying the meter is not operational. Went to the office to tell them. They said the meter was not functioning. Because if this I should have paid a different way. Card wouldn't work but the two apps. All of those charge an additional fee. The fact is I paid and it still took my coins. Then I got a $20 ticket. They are not willing to work with me. So you will get all $20 in Pennie's because I wouldn't want to have a few for me using a card. The fact I work at a non profit and have myself and others have been ticketed at 9am or 901am means your station people near our site (targeting) because you know most of us start at 7am and might forget to pay right at 9am. I can say that easy park is by far one of the worst parking agency's I have ever worked with. Poor customer service, bad behavior around parking and maintenance of their own equipment. They can break the law, park illegally or in red zones but I can't put money in a meter if it's broken. I have to use an app somehow without my phone or move my car. Funny I could have moved two spots down was also open but also a broken meter! FIX YOUR Stuff easy park. Update emailed them to appeal my ticket. 1035am and it was denied less than 3 hours later. Called the number to talk to someone and the call dropped. Called back says they person your trying to reach is unavailable. They have no problem delivering sub par customer service and not fixing broken meters. I can see why they get more money from tickets and charges for frees from the app, just a frustrating company to deal with. read more

Wow, the other reviews here are far too kind. As far as Anchorage monopolies we all must suffer under to live in this beautiful area: EasyPark is even worse than GCI. Easypark is vindictive, user-hostile, and regressively punishes lower income members of Anchorage. My first encounter with easy park was when I parked downtown for 10 minutes to run into the Apple store for an in-store pickup. It was 10 minutes to 6pm, when the meters stop. When I came out, someone was in the process of writing a ticket, but hadn't completed it. As I got in my car to leave, they physically blocked my car with their body, forming a human shield...like what you might see in the 60's where a bunch of hippies were trying to protect a forest, so that I was unable to pull out before they could finish the citation. More recently, I received a ticket for allegedly illegally parking outside the Flattop trailhead. There were signs indicating areas where you couldn't park...and no one parked there. The signs were one-sided. The signs were perpendicular to the roadway, and the signs had no arrows. There were only two of them on a large section of road. They were clearly positioned to not allow parking at two intersections. However, someone a member of Law Enforcement, on behalf of Easypark I'm assuming, came up there and ticked a dozen cars. I was angry, but I know we had done nothing wrong. I took a half-dozen photos of the situation before I drove off. I then spent two hours marking up the photos with arrows and signage suggestions and wrote a couple paragraphs explaining them. Then I discovered Easypark only lets upload one file. So, I copied and pasted all my marked up photos in Word, then exported as a .pdf so I would have a single file to upload. I had burned a ton of my own time, but I thought "well, at least maybe I will win and just maybe they will adjust the signage." A few days later: DENIED. This was their reasoning: "Judgment Decision: Per Muni Code, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, or in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or official traffic control device, no person may park a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading merchandise or passengers at any place where official signs prohibit parking, with the exception of fire lanes and handicapped parking areas. Please reference the Anchorage Municipal code below that you were cited for. " Again, the OFFICIAL SIGNS DO NOT PROHIBIT PARKING WHERE WE PARKED. THERE WERE NO SIGNS WHERE WE PARKED, THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT! What you do when there is a sign is not what I'm questioning, what I'm questioning is that there WAS NOT A SIGN where we parked and the two signs that were in the general area INDICATE PARKING IS NOT ALLOWED NEAR THE INTERSECTIONS. The bottom of this appeal denial email contained some garbled text I could not read. So, I forwarded it to another account, on Microsoft Outlook and...it actually contains the instructions on how to file a second appeal! You can't make this stuff up! When you decode it, it reads: "Total: 1. However if you still wish to contest the violation(s), please re-file the appeal with the statement ?court hearing? within ten(10) calendar days of the date of this notification. Then we will forward this case to the State Court System for scheduling of a hearing. 2. Please remit payment within thirty(30) calendar days of the print date of this letter (listed above) to avoid a late payment penalty of $15.00. Payments past due in excess of ninety(90) calendar days from Parking Violation issue date will be referred to a collections agency and will increase your cost. To make payment, please use our Online Services at easyparkalaska.com" Honestly, I'm still not sure what I have to do to file a 2nd appeal. The website does not allow me to re-file, it just allows me to add the citation to my "basket" (which is their cute way of saying "pay it"). I'm guessing they want me to reply to the email with "?court hearing?" in the title? I have no idea if that's what they mean, but that's what I did. I only have 10 calendar days though, so I'll waste more time on this project and physically visit their office to confirm. If you're younger or lower-income, you might not have access to the full Microsoft Office suite that would be required to make an appeal. You probably don't even have a dedicate computer, you just use your phone. I'm not sure how other people handle this, I guess they just pay? Hopefully this can help someone else. More or less, if the Flattop parking lot is full...if you park ANYWHERE else, regardless of if there is signage or not, you WILL get a ticket. So just leave and hike another day. Judging by the cars I saw, feel free to makeup fake parking spaces if you're actually in the parking lot though, dozens of folks were doing that, and no tickets were issued. read more

Scumbag scammers will give you a ticket even if you've paid for the parking and then will quote municipal code to you for why they deny your appeal even though the municipal code shows they didn't follow the proper municipal process. read more

I did an appeal because I thought it was ridiculous since I paid for my meter, I was perfectly parallel to the curb, and I still got a ticket because I was three feet away from the meter. They denied me even though someone could park behind me and the person in the front took up half of my spot. Well I guess they drove off perfect time so they could lay the ticket on me. I guess easy park gets there money with denying appeals and making people pay for ridiculous tickets. Will be ubering and figure out a way to not use easy park. read more

My view of these scam artists has not changed. Saturday I went downtown a little before 12, I stopped by Snow City then went over to Crush Bottleshop before walking over to the mall. I came back to a ticket for being parked there beyond their 2 hour limit. The ticket was at 2:02 and I know for a fact I didn't leave Snow City until after 12 because I have an alarm on my phone set to go off exactly at 12 every day and at that point I was still waiting for coffee. So I still had time before the 2 hour limit. I tried to argue it but they refused to do anything about it because "the meter say 2 hour limit very clearly and the person checking the meter says you were there longer than two hours." I sent my Snow City receipt with the time my order was taken listed on it but they still refuse to take back their ticket. What a scam. read more

The bar wouldn't go up in the JCPenney parking garage for my lane or the one next to me. I called the number, and the gentleman refused to lift the bar (though it did get lifted for the person next to me, maybe because they kept honking their horn and yelling). The gentleman wanted me to reverse into incoming traffic to get into a different lane since it was out of order. I told him that wasn't safe to do so and I haven't been in the garage long enough to owe money on the ticket. He kept saying it wouldn't be reversing and said people drive backwards all the time, so I need to just do it. I said it's not safe with vehicles behind me. He gave me an ultimatum, either I reverse into traffic or I can wait for an officer to give me a citation or IOU. Again, the ticket had no balance, so I'm not sure what the IOU would be for. I told him I'd like to wait for a citation, and I suggested they put a cone in this lane because there's no way of knowing it's out of order. As soon as I got off the phone, an EasyPark truck pulled up and a gentleman radioed for the bar to be lifted. I'm baffled by the whole experience to be honest. read more

The BBB's F rating for Easy Park is based on EasyPark's failure to address customer concerns. Paid for parking and was out before my time ran out. Got a ticket anyway. Greedy business with poorly maintained lots and garages. Garages always smell like urine and feel unsafe. I've been hassled in Easy Park's garages more than once. Oh my gosh this is the worst place and worst customer service I've ever had. I never leave bad reviews but this was the worst place Ive ever worked with. I work at the mall so some of it was definitely on me. But after my parking pass was all said it done they asked me to come pick it up. And they didn't answer the door, 10 minutes. I was on my lunch and I had spoken to them 2 minutes prior. They didn't answer and didn't get back to me. There response time is like 2 weeks and every interaction Ive had with them has been negative and a waste of my time. Someone else needs to be doing this lady's job. read more

Well... "easy park" is not so easy. They cornered the parking market in Anchorage and will hit you hard with a ticket if you run out of time and use exact change because there is no change. Better to park out of town and use other means of transportation to see the city. read more

The ladies in the front office at the 5th ave garage couldn't care less about customers time or serving with at least minimal attitudes. I've yet to have a positive experience here. I've been parking with them for 3 years. But at least you can count on their prices staying high. read more

While the redeeming aspect of EasyPark is the ease of using an app (which isn't boastful these days) to pay for parking, my issue seems to be with the employees that I've had contact with. In each interaction, none of which involved me having a violation or parking issue, they have been startlingly rude (making snide comments as I passed), or were very openly racist while on break (but in uniform). I work downtown and watched a Pay employee get into a verbal altercation with someone trying to park. He was a younger employee with short red hair and very aggressive. The racist comments? I was in line at Kobuk last winter when two employees were making some casual racist and derogatory comments with the baker who was taking a break. One of the Parking employees was a short, older, bald employee who had a mustache. read more

I wish I could give lower than a 1 star review. I always pay for parking, but, my wife is new to Canada and borrowed my truck - I was not with her at the time. It is customary where she is from to pay when driving out of the parkade and so she neglected to pay before leaving the vehicle unattended. I asked for leniency and that the ticket be downgraded to a warning on this one occasion and they simply ignored my reasonable request preferring to mention policy in a cold way. Parked here for AFN. I parked on the 3rd floor. I was trying to leave and walked all the floors since I couldn't find my car. Wandered over 20 minutes back and forth. Turns out there are two garages side by side so make sure you know which one you parked in or you will be walking in circles until you figure it out. read more

I paid EasyPark's exorbitant parking fee at their kiosk, placed the receipt on my dashboard, and went on my way. I returned long before my parking time expired. So, imagine my surprise and annoyance when I received a parking violation citation in the mail! Apparently, EasyPark is running a special: pay to park AND get a citation! Whee! I sent them a letter requesting that the matter be cleared up and included a copy of their charge to my credit card. EasyPark is a hassle. read more
