I must say I am very disappointed, I really did expect more from a chef who apparently worked in Michelin stared restaurants. We had Bruschetta which reminded me of a horrible night I ate at a place called Outback Jacks in Macky average at best. Then the Fritto Misto, tempura prawns, whitebait and calamari, this was ok but not great and the sauces were good. Then the mains, I had Black Angus ragu Pappardelle and it was so over powering with tomato you couldn't taste the meat so very average. We had the 5 mushroom tagliatelle with truffle oil, this was good but a little stodgy. I will say the serves are huge and date I say they are to big, trust me I can eat but I guess when it's average you don't want that much. On the bright side the Pann Cotta was very nice. I won't be back and for a restaurant that drops so many names I'm surprised.

Goat curry - tonnes of flavour, wonderful. My son had a beef ravioli with carbonara sauce. Ravioli was soft and filling v good, carbonara sauce was perfectly salty. It could be the fact that we've had nothing but burgers and deep fried everything on this trip, but this resto was outstanding so go there.

This might be controversial but the establishment has a slightly bogan air to it. It's an accurate observation much as I love my fellow man and a bit of lowbrow now and then. The eight people at the table next to us weren't so much talking as shouting at each other. We were mystified by the behaviour which was irritating. This place wasn't my choice and I was thinking rather dimly of it before our ordered charcuterie board arrived at the table. This near eradicated any negative thoughts I had about the place. The board was very nicely composed. Every single item on the board was as fresh as a daisy, dancing with flavour and lovely on the palate. The size was perfect too. Spot on for two people who weren't ravenously hungry. I arrived with a cynical outlook, we left very happy. It's a 3.5.

Consequently, tables were sitting there with leftover dishes still on them, uncollected. We had to pick a table that hadn't been cleared and push the dirty dishes to the side. If it's a good season and the streets are under snow you can ski right to the front door and drop in for one...which we did. I'm not sure what changes the new owner brought in but two things were obvious - the menu has been simplified, with burgers, popcorn chicken and salads on the menu, and the staff have been decked out in lumberjack shirts. The food is okay but then you don't expect too much when in the snow. On a previous visit I recall having a reasonable meal, although it's been too long for specifics. They do have various drink options including some very cheap Cerveza beers, Rio Grande and Tecate, probably better suited to a warmer season but hey. They didn't offer salt and lime, which might add a touch of something else to an otherwise ordinary drink. There's a dart board, good heating, large windows to gaze out of, and if the company is right a good night out.
