They created a bedroom, bathroom, playroom, media centre, and bar - all finished beautifully. All of their contractors and workers were professional, on time, and skilled. They completed the job on time and on budget (aside from a few items we decided to upgrade). They also have a designer, Cynthia, who was very helpful and brought samples to our house for us to chose as we're a busy family of five with no time to shop around for finishes. Brandon was great throughout the entire process from start to finish and communication was amazing. I'd highly recommend The Basement Store and would absolutely use them again.

Having had bad experiences with trades in the past, I was hesitant to take on such a large project. But our house had been occupied by the same family for almost 50 years and was in desperate need of updating. I wanted to maintain some of the historical details blended with modern updates. Based on some of the other renos of his I've seen, this seems to be his specialty. He tackled every aspect of the reno with design in mind. For the basement, Mike suggested heated concrete floors that we absolutely love. When bathroom fixtures were delivered and didn't match the modern elements in the basement bath, they were returned and reelected. When I was having trouble choosing tile, they helped out. I gave a basic outline of what I wanted in the kitchen and Mike's team fleshed out the design beautifully. There was good collaboration between his team and I. Since we had recently purchased the home, we were on a tight budget. Mike provided thoughtful suggestions on where to save money. They were respectful when items were cut for cost savings and never tried to get us to spend more than we were comfortable with. The budget never increased from the original quote except for when I added on larger scale items like a gas line to my new range and BBQ. When tiles were priced out a couple cents higher than my budget, they confirmed before purchasing them. We were informed of all the details along the way. My timeline was also tight since we only had a few weeks where renos could be done before we had to move in. The team was there late each night and on weekends in some cases to prepare for our move-in. Work continued after we had moved and workers were there every weekday. Shout-out to Harold who was at our house almost everyday. Trades always showed up as scheduled. Periodically, we would meet up for a walk through. I would usually have a list of questions or items that I would like him to work on. He was always patient and thorough when explaining his answers. When I asked for items to be worked on, it was never a problem. He often already had the same list of items to be worked on. Working with Mike was truly a wonderful experience and I highly recommend him. I can't wait to have them back to tackle all of the new projects I have dreamt up!

The project, originally targeted for completion in late September, extended for several months with shifting schedules and inconsistent communication. A critical design issue emerged. The cabinet line was recommended, specified, and ordered by their in-house team (for which additional design fees were paid), yet the final layout did not properly accommodate the appliances we had already purchased. This required additional expense and changes to the approved plan. At termination, deficiencies remained unresolved. We retained another contractor to complete and correct the work. For an engagement at this price point, the level of coordination and accountability did not meet expectations. Future clients should ensure design responsibility and execution standards are clearly defined before proceeding.

From the very beginning, the team was hands-on and communicative--walking us through layout decisions, materials, and even little design touches we hadn't thought of. Like with any major build, we had a few questions and small adjustments along the way, but they were always patient, responsive, and committed to making sure we were comfortable with each step. That gave us a lot of confidence. The finished home is absolutely stunning: over 2,900 sq ft of bright, thoughtfully designed living space, with wide plank oak flooring, 9-foot ceilings, and an oversized chef's kitchen that's truly the heart of our home. The open-concept layout is great for family life and entertaining, and we've already spent countless evenings on the terrace under the motorized awning, grilling or just relaxing by the firepit. What really stood out to us was the craftsmanship--solid core doors, custom millwork, beautiful cabinetry, and a finished walk-out basement with in-floor radiant heating that makes the whole home feel warm and inviting. They also thought through all the extras: ample storage, smart irrigation, fenced yards, and just a real ease of living that you can feel every day. We're incredibly grateful to Ridgestone Home for building a place that really feels like ours. It's rare to find a builder who brings both skill and genuine care to the table--but they do. We wouldn't hesitate to work with them again. (Photo attached--though honestly, it's even better in person.)
