After the alignment, they told us the tires needed balancing as well, so we agreed to that. They took the car on three test drives and assured us each time that it was running "smooth" and everything "looked good." We were told maybe we had "bad" tires or possibly a problem with the transmission and sent on our way. Saying the Volvo was driving "smooth" couldn't have been further from the truth. The moment we got in the car, it was vibrating and bouncing just as badly as before. It genuinely felt like they wanted us out the door rather than taking the time to diagnose the real issue. When we got home, a simple Google search pointed to bad CV joints and control arms. We took the car to Tire Works in Bullhead City, and they confirmed exactly that. It's hard to believe Stockton Hill Tires didn't catch something so obvious. Tire Works replaced the parts, and now our Volvo drives perfectly. The staff at Stockton Hill Tires were friendly, but friendliness doesn't fix a car. Whether they didn't know what they were doing or just didn't want to deal with it, the result was the same. Based on our experience, I can't recommend them. Tire Works in Bullhead City, on the other hand, got the job done right.

With hazard lights blinking we nervously "limped" into Kingman. Our Airbnb host told us about Hector's Auto Repair and the excellent online reviews they had received. It was 10pm on a Friday night and when I looked them up online I was shocked to see that they were still open! I called the number and Hector himself answered! Within 30 mins our truck had been towed to his garage and he called to let us know our truck & belongings were secured in his shop and he would be in touch the next morning. True to his word, the next morning, bright & early he called us and described the disaster that was our tires, rotors, brakes, bearings, etc. Hector worked feverishly all day Saturday, checking in with us throughout the day to let us know what was going on and getting our approval for purchases. By dinner time all necessary repairs had been made and new equipment installed! I am writing this review Sunday morning while back on the road in our newly repaired truck. I'm happy to report that the ride in our truck is now incredibly smooth! Hector went out of his way to ensure that we had exactly what our truck needed, explaining every step, so the remainder of our journey would be pleasant, but more importantly, safe. We were driving from Phoenix after getting the oil changed on our 2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e when the original shop failed to tighten the oil filter correctly, causing a major oil leak and leaving us stranded about 75 miles outside of Kingman. AAA towed us to Holden Automotive, and even though we arrived around 7 AM, Christian and the team jumped right on the car and took great care of us. We asked around and we referred to D and S auto and are so happy! First of all, they were not snotty or stuck up or arrogant when they saw how old my car was. They seem to respect older vehicles here and keeping them going. Not only did they give me a clear, honest estimate, but they did even more than we asked for, and quick, as we were on the road We're planning on spending a lot of time in Kingman. By the way, we had a juicy burger and beers at the brewery in "Old Kingman" afterwards. The price was unbelievable.... 1/3 what I'd pay in California. Next time, If I can get there, I will drive all the way from San Francisco or LA just to get my car fixed here. It runs like a new car now.
