Excellent service. Professional, experienced, efficient and honest from start to finish. They fixed my vehicle in 2-3 days what the dealership was unable to do in over 3 years. My vehicle had always been serviced by the dealership since purchased and I had been happy with them until about 2-3 years ago. After 3 years of total frustration with the dealership I finally took my 2007 Santa Fe to Holden's. So glad I did! Christian and the mechanics jumped in to trace the check engine codes dealing with the throttle assembly/sensor, identified the source there, and the long crank to start issue (fuel pump). They replaced the necessary parts and fixed all my issues. And they kept me apprised of their ongoing efforts and estimated costs along the way to solve the 3-year puzzle. They also worked hard to get it back to me before the 4th of July weekend. What a relief. BTW-I am almost 74 years old and Holden's never gave me the feeling they were trying to take advantage of an older lady. I found just the opposite. They wanted to know the entire history and they listened to me list the issues that had been occurring and made notes in my file. For about 3 days of labor tracing the elusive engine codes, parts and repair it cost me $930.87. Worth every single penny! And when it was ready they sent an Uber to pick me up on their dime. Impressive. When I paid my bill Christian and the mechanic (sorry I didn't get his name) were excited and proud to show me pictures and explain what they found and how it was repaired. Now I have my dependable transportation back and the confidence that it isn't going to fall apart on me like the dealership was attempting to make me believe. I believe we had 2 separate motivations at play; a dealership trying to scare/frustrate me to the point of buying a new car or Holden's honestly wanting to find the problem, repair it and return my dependable Santa Fe to me. I truly don't understand all the amazing reviews, we literally chose Holden's based on all the great reviews, unfortunately my aunt did not have a great experience. She made an appointment for 8:30am to have them to check a bumping noise and service her air conditioning. They did offer her use of the shuttle, but after more than an hour they ended up having to call her an Uber, which I do think is very nice, but quite honestly with what was done to her car that really shouldn't have been necessary. They determined what the noise was and changed the cabin air filter, this took until about 11:30 am. Now I'm not a mechanic, but I have changed a cabin air filter, takes no more than five minutes....tops. They charged her $43.51 for the filter, which is ridiculous, they also charged $49.75 for labor, I can chalk the labor up to all the other things they checked, but that price for the filter is an absolute rip off. My aunt said there was a rattling noise coming from the passenger side after she picked up her car, I said it may be something from the filter replacement, she's 73 years old and didn't realize that the filter was accessed through the glove box. I opened the glove box, mainly because I wanted to see this gold plated $43 dollar filter, first thing I see is that the damper is not attached to the inside compartment. I can't say that they broke it, but considering the plethora of pages they gave her with suggested repairs, you'd think they would have mentioned it...just sayin. I pulled the $43 filter, it's totally generic, made in China, no brand name listed on it at all, Motorcraft and STP average $25-$30, clearly they were just taking advantage of an older lady. My aunt has trouble standing as well as sitting in certain types of chairs, she asked several times about when her car would be ready, even after she had paid, she waited another 30 minutes, it was only after walking outside and seeing her car with the hood down and the keys in the ignition did she ask again for her car that they finally made an effort to bring it around for her. They determined the bumping noise to be the struts, she does also need tires, they wrote her up an estimate of $1099.97 for tires, installation, and all the other new tire crap. They also gave her an estimate for the struts and an alignment, the strut assembly and sway bar link with labor came to $1515.68, the alignment was $194.66. Thankfully she didn't have the time or the money to have those services completed today. After hearing about her experience and seeing all the estimates, I made her call Stockton Hill Tire, she now has an appointment with them next week to have struts, alignment, and tires for $1200. I understand that they may have been giving their estimate with "better" tires, but they gave her no options in their estimate, making her believe that was the best they could do. They may be nice and friendly, but it seems to me that its just the ole slight of hand, watch the right one so you don't see the left one in your wallet. Seniors beware. read more

We were driving from Phoenix after getting the oil changed on our 2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e when the original shop failed to tighten the oil filter correctly, causing a major oil leak and leaving us stranded about 75 miles outside of Kingman. AAA towed us to Holden Automotive, and even though we arrived around 7 AM, Christian and the team jumped right on the car and took great care of us. They were professional, kind, honest, and understood the urgency of our situation. After a long stressful night on the side of the road, it was such a relief to find a shop willing to help immediately and get us safely back on the road. I called for an estimate. It seemed extremely high. I don't know or have experience with any garages in the area. Ironically I relied on the Yelp reviews. I can't do the work myself I am disabled and it needed done so I figured I would take it there even with the high estimate. Thinking maybe the customer service was worth a little extra cost. I supplied all of the parts except for the serpentine belt. When I got the receipt I was shocked to see the price of the belt was $123.11. I called to verify that it wasn't a typo or that there wasn't an idler pulley or kit installed. I was told that it was a quality Gates belt and that allows them to offer a 2 year warranty on the belt. No other explanation for the belts extremely high cost was given. I was a mechanic for decades I also worked in multiple auto parts stores. I have never questioned the quality of Gates products. I do know that there is no way this belt even came close to the price they charged me for it. A simple search online will show that. To be a bit on the expensive side is one thing but to blatantly overcharge for an inexpensive part is being totally dishonest with the customer. This is why auto repair shops have that stereotype of ripping of customers. I will be finding a new garage. read more

While towing a small fifth wheel 70 miles out of Kingman, my new to me truck blew it's cooling system, leaving us on the side of the road at sunset. Our vehicles were dropped off at Holden's after midnight. They open their doors at 7am. I got a call at my hotel at 7:01 asking if they could test the cooling system. At 7:36am, they had their diagnosis and estimate to fix my rig. Of course I said yes. During the course of the day, I researched the quote and every item was more than reasonably priced. At 4:15 they called letting me know all of the work was completed and that as a traveler I was considered a priority. They replaced both radiator hoses, fuel pump, thermostat, radiator cap and drive belt. Drove the remaining 1,000 miles home without a hitch. On day one of a multi-day/state road trip my Nissan's radiator cracked open on the 40 in Kingman. There were a few shops nearby to get towed to - and I am glad I chose Holden's. Our day/night plans to meet up with a friend in Colorado were blown, and it did take about $1,500 bucks and 5-6 hours of waiting - but I got a spanking new radiator, hoses and thermostat, and we did make it to our friend's (2am instead of 8pm). The staff was friendly, the waiting area was clean, and since knew about how long the wait would be, they even called an Uber for us to take our dog to a nearby park/shopping plaza to burn some time. The whole situation COULD have been much worse - my head was spinning with the thought of needing to rent a car to finish out our trip while my Nissan sat in a shop for days, or who knows how long. They found the root of the problem as well and informed me with what could also be done and what timeframe it should be done with an estimate. Replaced my bottom fuel filter today. I only needed the bottom done because Valvoline had replaced my top one the day before. The work they did was fine but I paid over $400 for it Including parts and labor. The filter itself is about $40 for a kit that comes with both top and bottom. Holdens went above and beyond last week when my car started overheating on a trip from Tucson to Las Vegas. It was a Friday afternoon but they were still able to have a look, get parts, and have it repaired for us to pick up the next day. The manager Scott also went out of his way looking for a way to get us to a concert in Vegas that night. The final bill was below the estimate, which was nice after paying extra to get to Vegas. The shop came highly recommended by someone I trust and while he inferred, their pricing was higher than some, it wasn't until I got an estimate for a brake job at about $900, just how high their pricing was. Having to set all this, I went ahead with the work, as I was impressed by the shop itself, and the staff in the office. They did a comprehensive review of the items needed on my vehicle. Double charged me for service and parts, did unauthorized services to my vehicle (including one that can cause other issues), an had no sense of urgency (did not provide an ETA nor updates, went to the shop and saw my car sitting in the lot not being worked on and had not received a call to say it was done). I am a new customer who went in for an oil change. These are the things I noticed as I waited for my service to be completed: 1) several customers called or came in to get help with problems and they were able to fit them in fairly quickly to help. One woman came in because she wasn't able to open up her trunk. The service advisor went out and resolved the problem in a few minutes, at no charge to her. That shows me that they have a helpful attitude towards their customers. 2) My oil change bill was less than the quick service place I went to last time. That was a nice surprise! I went there for an oil change because I think it is important to have regular maintenance. Having it done at a locally owned, full service shop, at a fair price is the way to go. Hopefully, any problems that might arise are prevented by regular maintenance and inspections, ultimately, SAVING me money and time. read more

Refused to work on our E-350 Super Duty because "it's a bus," though it is not, it's a van. Seems they can't work on large vehicles "because of their insurance." Say they work on all makes but that doesn't say much when you're so limited on your models; wouldn't bring anything bigger than an F150 here if I were you, and I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to come here since they may not even walk outside to look at your vehicle no matter how easy the job might be. There are so many other highly rated mechanics in this town, I'd recommend one of them instead. read more

The front end ... rack and pinion etc, had worn out on my 2017 Nissan Altima. We decided to have Holdens replace the worn parts and fix it. Which was done. After several months the steering became difficult. We took the car back in and learned that part of the equipment from the previous repair had failed. That's the bad part. The good part is that with no hassle they replaced and repaired the faulty parts and we are good to go. There was no cost to us as the parts and work was still warranted! Yay Holdens! read more

On our road trip we noticed a potentially serious issue with our car and brought it to Holden's in the morning. They diagnosed the problem, gave us an estimate and ordered the parts. Service advisor Jeffrey informed us about the progress, so that we could change the hotel reservations, and he organized getting lunch downtown. As they say, when it rains, it pours! Navigation display went out in 2007 Honda CR-V EX-L. A week later, the air conditioning stopped putting out cold air. An ongoing problem has been a noisy rear end (loud whining noise). I changed out the navigation display and Holden's did their magic with the air conditioning and rear end. We moved here from another state 2023. And I'm sceptical on who I could trust to take care of my Audi. I found this shop via internet. Whenever I tried to do research for a good place, I go to the internet and look for a very good stars and read people's comments. And I could attest that most of the good comments I read were actually true. You could tell and feel it in your heart when you walked in through that door... And my experienced with them taking care of my car were positive feeling. I immediately got a good impression of this place. The crew are friendly, and very welcoming. They seemed to have a very good knowledge about the business. They don't seem like any other car shop that will only sell you bs. I kinda had a feeling of trust towards them. I'm very impressed with the system while your car is on the operating table :) You'll be informed of everything that's going on with your car via text with a picture and a link of video to explain everything. Just like in a big car dealership but in a small car shop. The price is kind a little high for me, but as the saying goes..hey "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR". Kept my car nearly 3 months during most of which they didn't touch it. After one failed repair they lied over and over to me finally telling me it was fixed and had been tested. It hadn't. It wasn't. The main thing I despise was the dishonesty. When I picked it up it hadn't been moved for at least 3 weeks. I doubt if they ever looked at it once. Almost didn't make it to the next repair shop that finally did fix it. Charged me over $700 and fixed nothing. Made it worse. read more

My sister was driving by herself on the way from California to Sedona, AZ and her car stopped working on the I-40! Thankfully, she had her car towed to Holden's Auto Shop and she said the staff were all so kind. She said they were already having an extremely busy day and when she arrived at the shop, it was late in the day.
