Very disappointed with this practice. Never felt like they cared for the pets as much as the money.

We used Eastham Vet for years - years and years. We were happy, and then they were sold to a corporate entity. What irritates me so much is that this office refused to send my dog's prescription over to Chewy to be filled. Instead, I am being forced to go to their office and pick up the script they're holding hostage in the hope that they get the $$$ when/if I choose to fill the script at their office. Well no dice, I will not buy anything from these folks. It's this short sighted inconvenience and greed that made me take the sound step to go to Wellfleet Vetinary Hospital. Plus, The staff at WF is comprised of the folks who started Eastham way back when - so it's good be be back with original crew. read more

This place has gotten worse and worse, especially since being purchased by PetVet. They are way more interested in profits than they are in caring for your pet. On our last visit, they required and charged as for a full exam.. even though they had just completed an exam within the last couple months, and we just wanted them to treat her for an ear infection. I took my 18 year old kitty to Eastham Veterinary Hospital for a thyroid problem. I was told we needed to return in 4 weeks for further bloodwork for her medication. I understood the hefty fee for the first visit..but this second visit cost $175 and they told me that it would cost $175/month for my cat to be able to stay on this medication. The receptionist was extremely snippy and cold. I expressed shock at almost $200/month for medication. I decided to switch to a more reasonable and trustworthy vet in Wellfleet, one that is not a corporate entity like this one, and the clinic is telling me now that they will not forward my cat's medical records and, furthermore, that I am never allowed on the premises again. I can't imagine this is legal. Abusive, suspect. Awful. read more

I have been taking my 4 cats and foster kittens to this practice for 15 years . Dr's Stone and Driscoll know my pets well and are great. But the practice structure and staff have deteriorated over the last year and a half. There was a change in management at that time. All the vets and techs who were great have left. I have 3 senior cats, one who is 18 with advanced arthritis and kidney disease. Th staff have been down right rude and unresponse to his medication needs.. Needless to say, I am now leaving this practice but still seeing Dr Stone at a nearby vet. I am sorry to give such a review to a practice that was once so much part of the community. read more

I should have listened to all the other reviews. Horrible. Don't take your pet here! They bandaged my dog's paw and put a cone on her. When I got home I realized the cone was way too small and she had already chewed off her poorly fitted bandage. When I called back they offered only excuses and hung up on me. read more

Unfortunately, not especially reassuring about the competence of the vets, or even friendly. Rather cold and indifferent in explaining the pet's need or treatment. The front desk staff is especially unhelpful. Getting an appointment without a long wait is always a challenge - even when my pet needs to be seen sooner than a week away. Plus, they are EXTREMELY expensive for basic services and ridiculously expensive for basic meds like heartworms. I have found an alternative on the Cape and am glad to leave this practice read more

I wish I had seen some of these review below before I went there. I am sorry, but I am compelled to say something here. We were charged over $1300 for a simple female dog spaying and microchipping here (microchipping a mere $54.58). This is nearly 3X any average I could find. I am sure everyone there is nice and all, but come on.....$1300??? I am not a vet but question whether some of the many meds given to our dog were even necessary. The procedure itself was billed $662.50. Does anyone looking at this (even vets) believe this is a reasonable charge? With fees like this it is no wonder why people opt not to neuter or spay their animals. Again, sorry....but $1300 is highly unreasonable. read more

My boyfriend and I were on vacation in Provincetown a few years ago when our Labrador Retriever, Rudy, dislocated his back leg. We were in a mad search to find a vet in the area and got 4 recommendations to see Dr. Kelley right away. Ultimately, we had to make the difficult decision to put Rudy to sleep. He had terrible arthritis and surgery would be too much for him to recover and be the happy, active dog he once was. This had to be the hardest decision we ever had to make, but Dr. Kelley guided us through it all and helped us with our grieving process. Not to mention, Dr. Kelley was also willing to help us get Rudy prepped for surgery at another hospital if that were the decision we had made. On a later occasion, we had to retrieve Rudy's ashes, but we had arrived after closing. We called Dr. Kelley and he was so kind to drive over and give them to us. We couldn't thank him enough for everything he's done for us. Something clicked with Dr. Kelley and it felt like he had been Rudy's vet all along. We are so happy to have met Dr. Kelley and his accommodating staff and couldn't have asked for anyone better. read more

Do not go to this clinic. They prescribed carprofen for my dog who has kidney disease. He is now hospitalized to try and bring his values back to normal. I informed them of his kidney issues which was probably ignored. Or the vet didn't know better. The vet at ANIMAL MEDICAL CENTER believes it was the carprofen that elevates his kidney values, to the point of needing to be hospitalized. read more

I am very upset with the way I was treated over the phone by a woman with the name Jen. I live in Provincetown and usually use Herring Cove Animal Hospital that is also located in Provincetown. I called Herring Cove this morning and was asked to leave a message because they could not pick up the phone at 10am, so I left a message stating that my dog has had diarrhea for 3 days and I was VERY concerned , so please call me back. I never heard back from them ,so I called back at 3pm only to get a message again the same one saying to leave a message and then the voice mailbox was FULL , so I could not leave another message. I checked their website that gave their hours as being open from 9-5 Monday thru Friday.which today is Tuesday, It also said they were CLOSED !!!!!!!! So I call Eastham veterinary that is affiliated with Herring Cove and spoke with someone by the name of Jen, who after expressing my concerns with my dogs health and then explained what my experience was with the Herring Cove screw up. Only to be told that the vet was on maternity leave for 8 weeks and that they close 2 days a week at noon!!!!!!!!!! and that there is not a vet available on site for 8 weeks which I know was not true, because 2 weeks ago I spoke with a temporary vet there. Jen repeatedly told me that they would not update the website to reflect any time change or vet's new scheduling so that people would not be worried that no one is getting back to them with their dogs health and concerns. Jen also told me if I didn't like it that I could go somewhere else, which I responded that I most certainly will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also said to her that it is extremely busy here on the Cape with people and their pets now is not the time to cut corners and please keep people up to date as not to worry, like I did. It is very difficult to find a vets office in our limited location but this was completely unactable, unprofessional behavior. The staff and doctors at your clinic are the best I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. From the second we came in I was helped by the receptionists, kind, considerate and informative with a very worried pet owner. We have definitely had our fair share of bad experiences with vets and misdiagnosis's. My husband and I are appreciative of the great care and compassion that was taken with our puppy. Our puppy normally has a lot of anxiety going into the vet and has thrown up at other vet visits, but not this time at Eastham Vet. What a relief it is to have found you wonderful people. Like many other pet owners, being overly protective and sensitive with new experiences that we introduce to our pets, we have no worries about our return visit. read more

Although the staff has tried to understand, and I sure have tried to explain, a serious problem with a bottle/syringe delivery system of medicine for my dog has become an issue worthy of my quitting using this vet. I am going to give it one more chance, writing up as clear a description of the issue as I can, in an effort to get them to change the bottle--or the interior cap, or the syringe, or something. The medical personnel have always been very nice and experienced and the staff have in the past made efforts to be helpful, but this problem has brought out a communication problem that is severe. read more

Have always thought they were an 'OK' animal hospital, with both the vets and the desk staff. About a year ago, I brought my dog in who was diagnosed with cancer. The middle aged female vet was as cold as a fish to me. Basically saying 'well, we don't have a surgeon for a month, not sure what you are going to do.". VERY stressful experience. I called Herring Cove Animal Hospital in Ptown to make an emergency appointment. They booked me an appointment 2 days later. I didn't know they routed the calls to Eastham and the person who took my appointment didn't tell me. So when we showed up in Ptown the sign on the door directed us to Eastham. We called them to tell them we'd be 15 to 20 late minutes. Eastham refused to see us because we were late despite it being an emergency and despite the poor communication. Though the office manager went back and forth with the doctors a few times at my desperate insistence the answer was still no and she hung up on me... I was very stressed and though not rude or terse... I was panicked. I know the cape is totally over capacity for medical services for all of us humans and dogs and cats. I'm sure Eastham is doing their best but this situation was horrifically handled and it leaves us very nervous about vet care on the cape. read more

The woman who answered asked a bunch of questions, then left to ask the vet what to do and then came back with good information. She was also super pleasant to deal with. read more

I must commend the Eastham Veterinary Hospital for the care that was given to my Doberman, Abby. She became very ill after eating a bone purchased at a Farmer's Market. Not living on Cape, a friend of mine who uses this veterinary hospital, recommended it to me. The receptionist was very helpful and I was able to get an appointment the same day. Dr. Eric Stone was gentle and a knowledgeable doctor. He did a very thorough job examining and explaining Abby's illness and the recommended procedures/medications. He began with the "least" invasive and "least" expensive procedures and medications first, which I was very thankful for. I felt like my Dobie and I were in competent hands. I would recommend and return to this practice in a heart beat if we ever need a veterinarian in the future. read more

I have been a faithful pet patient For 9 years and never feared going to this office. However, I also noticed less pets and different people since last year. I wasn't hurt when I went in because it was just a physical but i left hurt because something happened to me behind the scenes that they didn't tell my owner & I now have a hematoma under my right ear and I can't walk well. I was running just beforehand . The doctor claimed it was something that must have happened after I left there but he didn't see me hobble out. I don't ever want to go back. But they should fix what they hurt for free. My owner was told to schedule a follow up. That never happened before. My other doctors were so much better! What happened to John Kelly??????? read more
