Quite serene but if you're expecting Nature Only, you'll be disappointed because it is surprisingly built up. Still we enjoyed it immensely bc we'd never seen this lifestyle before. Our guide was informative about the ecosystem and everyone got to enjoy the blue moonrise. Paddling back in the dark was fine. Loved rocking in the wake of a passing boat or two. Highly recommend.

Numerous trails and options throughout, and the park is open from 7 AM until dusk. Among the options are a dog park, art galleries, playgrounds, kayak rentals, ice skating, and picnic areas. I did not get to the Visitors Center, as it closed at 4 PM. We visited the South River Overlook Trail, which was four-tenths of a mile in length, and had benches at the water to fully enjoy and appreciate the spectacular views. There are six other trails, ranging to as much as a mile and one-half in length. An $8 entry fee for automobiles, additional for larger vehicles, and they also offer lifetime senior passes.

An amazing day trip if you live in Baltimore, DC area, or even the Eastern Shore. Kent Island is easy to get to and close to a ton of restaurants so you can make an entire afternoon out of it. Karla was especially amazing because she let us know before the day of that the waters were going to be choppy due to the wind so we were warned about it being a little more difficult. Once we arrived, she took us through an introductory class to teach us the fundamentals about paddleboarding and form. She impressed upon us that the water was not very deep so that we weren't nervous going out on the choppy waters! She then came with us to take pictures of us standing up and a group shot all together! She also followed up with a thank you email and attached the pictures she took -- now if that isn't unbelievable service, I don't know what is!! I would (and will) visit her again as it was an amazing day on the water even if it was almost 100 degrees out!!!

When we went to go pick up our kayak we were once again reminded why "buying local" is more than just a trendy phrase. The owner, as well as the people who work there went above and beyond to make sure that all of our questions were answered and that we had everything we needed (at ridiculously good price) to really enjoy our first kayak.
