They have 4 self-service machines (always good if your request is simple, need stamps, etc) and there is rarely a line. There's also a small selection of packaging goods should you be in a pinch (envelopes, tape, cards even!). The staff has always proved quite helpful when I do indeed need to speak to a person. Patient, even. Impressive! The only thing missing is PENS. Please, strap a few pens to the desks. I've had to buy packages of pens on 2 occasions, woefully overpriced of course. Maybe this is the grand plan to keep the post office afloat? I am not sure but a few pens in the joint would be super.

Ostensibly the Old Street post office should be fairly efficient. There are around a dozen tills, some seating and a good selection of stationery and packaging materials. But the service is pretty dire. There are routinely staff at only around half of the tills and these staff - bar one very friendly young man - are routinely very, very mardy. I posted something valuable at this post office around six weeks ago, used the Recorded Delivery option and it went missing. When I returned to the Old Street post office to try and obtain an address to send my appeal for compensation to the service staff were indifferent bordering on hostile. Avoid unless you really, really need to post something and in that case avoid this post office at lunch time as the queue is invariably about 50 people deep. And life's too short to spend half an hour of your day queueing to buy stamps.

On March 27th, 2025, during my visit to the Moorgate branch (45 London Wall, EC2M 5TE), despite providing clear instructions for a parcel drop-off using a valid QR code for a Tracked Drop Off service, the counter employee (a woman in her 40s/50s) incorrectly applied a return label to my package (Original tracking: TQ 7541 3656 1GB). This was done without my knowledge or confirmation, and despite my repeated explanations of the service I required. Her demeanor was unhelpful and dismissive throughout. As a direct result of this Post Office employee's error, my parcel was misdelivered and is now lost. The nightmare continued with Post Office Customer Service (Complaint Ref: CAS-4016972-R1T6G0). Despite providing all necessary evidence and numerous detailed emails, they have been utterly evasive, contradictory, and unhelpful. My complaint was initially 'resolved' due to alleged 'missing information' (which I had provided), then put into an 'appeal' process. Shockingly, this appeal was then denied with absurd and illogical excuses that attempted to shift blame onto me, claiming the QR code I presented must have been incorrect, despite having proof of my intended transaction and payment. Furthermore, I contacted the Postal Redress Service (POSTRS) for external resolution, only to be informed that they do not handle complaints against Post Office Ltd. directly for operational errors like this. This highlights a critical gap in accountability for Post Office's own services. The Post Office has shown a complete lack of responsibility, competence, and basic customer care. They actively hinder resolution and provide zero support when their own staff make costly errors. I strongly advise everyone to avoid the Moorgate Post Office branch and frankly, be extremely wary of using Post Office Ltd. services if you value your parcels or expect any form of accountability. This has been an incredibly frustrating, time-consuming, and costly experience, and I would hate for anyone else to go through the same ordeal

    I paid £49.95 to Royal Mail for one-day delivery to Canada for a very important letter that needed…read moreto arrive the next day. After payment, the post office added the wrong province to the letter, causing it to be sent to an entirely different Canadian province. They did not use the post code that was clearly printed on the letter. This caused a delay of over one week while the letter was redirected. The Royal Mail service I purchased was 1-day delivery. I did not receive such service and instead received service slower than the standard 7-8 day delivery. The Royal Mail website states it does not allow complaints to be filed for international delivery delays. This is absolutely outrageous considering the fact that I paid for the service of 1 day timely delivery and did not receive it. Therefore, I should receive a refund of my purchase price.
