The owner Bud needs lessons in customer service. From what I am seeing since changing of hands from previously owned Hemco the services have went downhill. I have never needed HVAC services and the way I was treated really offended me. The receptionist and the owner are cousins and when I said I didn't know how she worked for such a horrible man she hung up on me.... real customer service there. I was charged for services not performed. My slip states condensation and that charging my unit would FIX the water GUARANTEED!!! I had no condensation I had a busted pipe under my home. Misdiagnosed and charged for it!!! He told me I should be thankful that his technician fixed my unit because it would have broken within a week he guaranteed it and then it would have cost me thousands of dollars. Do not call this company, do not give them your hard earned dollars for work they do not do. read more

We were having trouble with our furnace and called Eastern Panhandle Heating & Cooling. They came out and determined the draft inducer assembly (fan motor) was bad. We told him to order the motor. He also noticed that the water heater was starting to leak and said they could replace that too. For the fan motor they said $714 total to replace and install it. For the gas water heater they wanted $1,800. We had them order the fan motor. That night I looked up water heaters at Lowe's and I found one that was very identical for $529. I Googled how long and how much to install a water heater. The natural average was 3-4 hours and $76 - $200 per hour. I got quote from a different plumber and he said he charges $105 an hour and it takes 3-4 hours. Since there was such a big difference in price for the water heater I Googled the fan motor part number and found a brand new OEM part for $196. The company also had a DIY video to replace the fan motor. Three screws, three wires and a gasket and its done. We called Easter Panhandle Heating and Cooling to get an itemized quote. First they couldn't find the ticket the technician was supposed to submit, then they found out after a week the technician never ordered the parts and when questioned why it was so expensive the lady said that's just how it is. We informed them that we found an OEM part for $196 she just said ok and hung up! We had another plumber come out and he installed the water heater for $870 and I replaced the fan motor myself. IF I would have gone with Eastern Panhandle Heating and Cooling the fan would have costed us $714 for the fan and $192 for labor and $1,800 for the water heater, not sure if that included labor. The total could have been $2,710 or more. I got it done for $1,066, that is $1,644 that I saved. I strongly suggest that you stay away from this company as it appeared that they are not competent and they are over charging customer's to the point that it in downright criminal to overcharge $1,644!! This company needs a lesson on how to install fireplace bricks and remote control. The first time it was installed the batteries melted. They came back to fix it and when I turned it on a few months later for the first time, the batteries not only melted but a small electrical fire started in my fireplace. I asked that the owner call me back which he never did so I had to call him back. I told him what had happened and wanted a full refund. All he said was ok with no apology or nothing to compensate me for this thing to possibly burn my house down. To add insult to injury I was charged a 4% credit card fee that I was told I was not entitled to back, so I was out an additional $80. At the very least I should have been compensated for the $80 that I originally paid for a credit card service fee. I felt I paid that fee which I never got back and they subtracted that amount from my refund. The excuses they gave to why they did that is unacceptable. It doesn't matter. I should have received a FULL refund with every penny I put out. If you have any sense you will go to another place to do your business because these people obviously DON'T care about their customers. read more

They are contracted with my home warranty company. My home warranty company authorized and ordered a replacement HVAC unit 5/22. Eastern Panhandle Heating and Cooling stated for weeks that they did not receive the part to do the work. They stated they were expecting a coil, and not an entire unit. However, in the charges that were not covered by my warranty company, I paid $75 equipment removal fee 5/27. This removal fee paid to EPHC should have been assumed to be for an entire unit, not just a coil. My warranty company shipped out a second unit 6/11 that EPHC again stated they never received. Meanwhile, my home is without AC for 3+ weeks. Both units were signed by Robert "Bud" the owner. These people are inadequate. I called almost every single day and not once did they think "hmm maybe these units might be for this customer." After the unit was finally replaced 6/20(1 month later!!!), the technician and then the secretary tried to RE-COLLECT the charges that were not covered by my warranty company that I already paid as soon as I was made aware at the beginning of this debacle. Do not use this company. I had to buy 2 AC units while this was going on, and they do not care to cover the cost of any out of pocket expenses. I will be reviewing on every forum I can. read more

1st time customer, we had been w/o AC going on 3 wks during the hot season and they were the most reasonable priced at all the local areas. They offered us decent financing and even before we could call to set up the appointment after getting approved they had already ordered what we needed. They showed up 2 days later and earlier then they stated they would be there. Our new heat pump was in by the end of the day and haven't had a problem with it since. read more

The previous company was HEMCO, we did business with HEMCO for many years and never had a single complaint. In April of this year Eastern Panhandle installed a new heat pump system to include 2 outside units, 2 inside air handler units and additional duct work. There were issues with the installation but the bigger issues came after the installation. We had constant problems with the units running in Aux heat mode more than they should. Initially I was told this was normal, after doing my own research and determining that this was not normal they changed their mind and said they would come and fix it. Multiple visits later it still wasn't fixed. Finally after ignoring my last phone call and never calling me back I contacted another HVAC contractor to come and take a look. Here is what the other HVAC contractor found. 1. Panel on downstairs air handler was never screwed back in place from previous repair visit, not a single screw was put back in. 2. The main wires connecting the power to the breaker on the air handler were never tightened, they could be removed from the breaker by just pulling on them. This could have burned my house down. 3. The downstairs outside unit was determined to not ever be kicking in to the second stage. Wires in the unit were never hooked up so it was never going to go into the second stage. Upon connecting these wires the unit immediately went into the second stage. This meant the unit was incapable of keeping up with demand and was working at only a fraction of its intended efficiency causing the Aux (electric elements) heat to constantly come on and run my electric bill through the roof. These are serious issues that could have caused serious damage and even loss of life! Since the repairs the other contractor made (in about an hour) the system seems to be operating perfectly. I have emailed Eastern Panhandle and have received no response. I will never have this company do anything for me again! read more

Came out to fix my unit. Waited a week for the part. In less than 24 hours the unit was broken again. They came out again, and said another part had to be ordered. Waited another full week to have them day they won't service my unit anymore and I have to go elsewhere. With absolutely no explanation. They sure kept my money though. Over two thousand dollars. do not use this company. they are less than professional and are boarder line crooks. we were required to use them by our insurance company or we wouldn't have used them. it took 2 months to have our air conditioning unit replaced because of errors made by both the insurance company and THEM. we were never told that there would be charges uncovered by our insurance company and that these charges would be due the moment the installation was completed. we received a call from them the day after installation and we were advised that we owed $500. in addition, they would be sending someone out to collect. we requested an invoice detailing the charges and be given the opportunity to review the charges with our insurance company but were told that if we didn't pay they would send someone out to disconnect the system. we advised our insurance company of their actions and have suggested that they look at their reviews and our experience to determine if they should continue using them as a contractor. read more
