Today was the first time I've purchased from Tanners, though it was my second time here in a span…read moreof 6 or so years. First things first, the staff was amazing. They answered any question I had. They were very welcoming and joyful. They were cracking jokes like I've known them for years. Every single person on shift was fantastic. Secondly, I was scoping around bucks county for a gun store with reasonable prices as well as a decent selection. And I must say Tanners has some of the best prices around and a pretty wide variety. I will say, there is an occasional firearm I believe is over priced. But having 9/10 firearms being relatively cheap is a solid deal. Gotta give em props for that. Thirdly, and lastly. They didn't bombard me as I perused their selection. I walked in, they welcomed me, and that was it. They were also jovial with the people I was companioned with. And the entire process for purchasing was clean, straight forward, and quick. I genuinely cannot recommend these guys enough. This may have been my first real time here. But it most definitely will not be the last.

Tanner's is a staple of the Bucks County community. I've relied on them for a variety of services…read moreover the years and have always been impressed by their knowledge and commitment to the rules. It's easy to point fingers in a newspaper article, but as someone who actually spends time in the shop, I know they run a tight ship and prioritize the safety of their customers and the community above all else. If you want to support a local business that does things the right way, this is the place.

Intro to Rock Climbing with Valley to Summit on September 18, 2022…read more This was my second trip to Chickies Rock with VTS and it was wonderful! There were only 5 of us, so plenty of time to climb. Our Guide, Bob, was so patient, engaged and informative. I learned a lot of great things that I had not known before about clothing, ropes and technique. Bob was so patient with me and was there with his " green pointer" to help me over the tough spots. You should know that I am 74 years old and tho I have climbed indoors for a few years, my stamina was not that of the youngsters who were there! Nonetheless, it was a great time! I highly recommend Valley to Summit, this being my 3 rd trip with them. They Rock!

He asked a few questions, then determined that it should be OK for me to go on the hike. Shortly before the hike we received an email from Dave saying that because of the warm weather the trip would not have as much ice as it normally does. He offered to reschedule or refund our money if we wanted, but also said we could go if we wanted. We wanted. When I got there Dave and the guides were fantastic. Very personable. They were helpful but without being intrusive. One of them carried one of my forearm canes in his backpack in case I needed it. (This was to have one hand free for the ice axe.) The hike was great. At the end of the hike I asked one of the guides if he thought I could do the repelling they offer... he conferred with the owner and the lead repeller guide, and they agreed that I would be allowed to do that in the Spring. I highly recommend Valley to Summit for a great time. I look forward to a full day ice hike in February.

I went in to see if they could help adjust my bindings to fit my new boots. The staff member I…read morespoke with explained that they wouldn't be able to work on them due to their age, which I understand. However, the way it was explained came across as rude, and no alternative options were offered. She did assist me with choosing a helmet, and a younger staff member upstairs (with glasses) was very helpful and took the time to help me. Despite that, I left feeling uneasy after my initial interaction. First impressions matter.

This hurts me to write this because I am all about small businesses, but Buckman's did me wrong…read moremultiple times. Bottom line: If you want to get your skis serviced in a timely manner, go somewhere else because this place doesn't have its systems in order to keep their timing promises + I hope you are also comfortable with slack mask-wearing discipline during COVID. Broken Customer Promises: 1. Broken Promise 1 - Failed to Keep to Servicing Schedule: Turned in skis for rush servicing with promises of next business day completion. The next business day, I was informed my skis would be 3 days late. 2. Broken Promise 2 - Failed to Keep Customer Service Remediation Promise: I was promised that to make amends for the lateness, they would ship my skis to me after service (I live 2 hours away - hence I requested a rush). When I called, they backtracked on the promise. Other Issues: 1. It was very blatantly obvious that one of the more senior store staff that interacted with customers struggled to keep his mask on. Occasionally it was on, but it was most often off (as in mouth and nose open). The rest of the staff kept their mask on and had no issues. 2. There was mass confusion of where lines were and where to go for specific services (paying, seeking product advice, ski servicing) and etc. People were standing around waiting for service. Deeper Operations Problems: I stood around long enough to overhear an interesting conversation between the staff and customers about the store's issues. Apparently, there are two digitally tracking systems for ski servicing that don't talk to each other. So although everyone is supposed to get an automated text and email, its very easy to fall in between the cracks (like me), if it is input in the wrong system. The staff was consistently checking between the two data systems, an easy point of mistakes and inefficiency. The Staff is Great Though: While I was standing around, I did see lots of friendly and caring staff helping people find the best gear. They seemed like lovely people. However, they were clearly overwhelmed and clearly sagged with bad systems + management struggles. Final Thoughts: I hate to sandbag a small business with so much history in the community, but they really did me wrong. I had to spend $300 (in extra travel and lodging costs since I was from out of town visiting family) + adjusted my winter plans because a business could not keep their word. I also canceled visiting family out of an abundance of caution after interacting with the non-mask wearing customer service person. Thanks Buckman's.

My experience form beginning to end was fantastic. I think one thing that seems to bother most people is the BBQ lunch. The BBQ lunch was apart of my package and when I arrived they were just loading the buns to be taken out on the river. I'm getting a little ahead of myself here but you'll understand in a minute. When I arrived, there were already several eager adventurous folks checking in, buying waterproof items for sale, collecting their water rafts and some even already on the water. I checked in with my Groupon and as directed, I left my keys - collected my Kayak and proceeded to the bus. Please note, the rule is, everyone must wear a mask until you're actually on the water; great rule as it gets crowded in the shop as well as on the bus. It keeps everyone safe. I chose the kayak experience which was awesome but the real fun is in a tube. After my journey down the river, I immediately purchase another Groupon just so that I could come back and have a tubing experience. So, back to the BBQ lunch. By the time I paddles my way down (a few signs for the waters edge for direction) to the BBQ shack on the water, they were still setting up. I guess I paddle too fast. I decided to keep moseying down the river as I had already packed a lunch just in case after reading the reviews about the BBQ shack not being up and running. Oh well, next time I'll enjoy a burger. Again, this is the perfect mid week escape. The ride outside of NY is quick and there's plenty of parking. Although it says Delaware tubing it's actually located in New Jersey; well at least the border between the two. I would recommend going early and taking as much time as you like in a tube with family and friends. I would also recommend bringing children as they will develop a lifelong love of being on the water. I'm a big fan now and I can't wait to return in a few weeks. P.S. I was told by my bus driver, they offer a fall foliage experience where they only allow kayaks on the river.
