DO NOT USE. I booked a car online for the following night. Someone called me in the morning to get more details. I spoke to someone mid afternoon confirmed everything. Then I called back around 4 PM to confirm again because the flight details kept changing. I was assured they would track the flight and it would be fine. My flight got into JFK around 10:50 PM. I waited until 11:15 PM (heard nothing). I called and was told there is nothing in the system. Really frustrating since I had only booked a car because currently uber and Lyft drivers can't get to the Jetblue terminal. Overall a disaster. I've reached out twice and asked to speak with a manager and been given reasons why he is not available. read more

I have used this service to go to the airport ... they have generally done a decent job. However, the cars are not the nicest, but since the prices are cheaper I guess that's ok. They show up earlier than the agreed time and then They leave. That sucks when you have to be somewhere and you are trying to manage your time. And if you call them right away, they may make you wait 30 min before they send a car. So you can't really plan at all. Today the car I was in over heated. He was a nice guy but told me I needed to get another ride. Didn't charge me. Ended up getting an Uber instead since the first driver had left after showing up too early for the pickup, and now the second car was inoperable. I think the cheaper prices reflect the uncertainty of what you will get. read more

Excellent door to door service. We called early Sunday morning needing rides with car seats for that afternoon. We had a pick up and return pick up scheduled. Never again. Airport pickup for my mom at JFK. Called in the night before as she was flying on a red-eye. 630a arrival. 730a, still no car. Called dispatch who said "there was a problem with their system" and they put me in touch directly with the driver who spoke little English and didn't seem to know where she was going, which airline to pickup at. After a night of flying you don't want to be waiting for your preordered car for an hour+. We gave up and she pivoted to a yellow cab. She didn't get to us until 2+ hours after landing. I don't understand the poor reviews for Eastern Car Service. We have used them for years without any issues. The drivers are generally friendly and the cars are clean. I have never been charged more than the quoted price, and they generally arrive on time. We have had issues waiting for cars at JFK, but they were fairly minor. My only reason for a 4 start review is that the person who now answers the phone in their office is not as good as the person who used to be there. read more

Horrible service .... they don't answer except after 4 or 5 times of calling. The estimated time they give when the car arrives (if it arrives) is usually off by 30-40 minutes. No matter how many times you call back to remind them and ask for an estimated time of arrival, they will say '5 minutes away' .... The 5 minutes never end. Not sure what's going on with Eastern-they were a great service, and I used them for years. There was an issue once with one of the drivers inadvertently poaching another drivers call-and the woman dispatcher said "we're like a family here, we watch out for one another". And it was true. the driver and the dispatcher worked it out. But lately, somethings changed. I always, always used them for airport service, but for the past several trips, often no one would pick up the phone-very weird, especially given their past service. However, on my last trip I was able to reach them, and made a reservation for pickup at the airport. When I arrived, there was, as always, a text from Eastern with the driver's license plate, car model, and pick up location. Usually there's a phone number, but not this time. But when I got there, there was no driver. I called Eastern, and they saw my reservation, but told me that they had no drivers in the area. I was forced to use Lyft. My 1st driver kicked me out of the car-I'm a great tipper, BTW, but the other fare must have been more desirable-so I got another car-which apparently was on another call, but kept saying he was going to be there in 5 minutes. (this has happened before, both with Lyft and Uber). Cut to the chase-it took me over an hour and a half to get out of the airport. What's worse-is that I don't have a reliable car service to call now. Eastern-I don't know what happened to you!! What's going on??? Tried calling frantically 5 times while we were waiting so we would not miss our flight but no response on their main line (despite this being rush hour and the site advertising them as being "24 hours"). Where is the option to give zero star?? First my driver was late, which she communicated with me, so i was ok. Going from park slope to newark, gave me quote of $55 cash ($60 if credit card) plus toll (estimate of $18). Once the car starts rolling, driver said toll will be $35 dollars. Never in my life has paid this much for toll. When i spoke to the company, they said they have to pay by mail (obviously our car has been using ezpass lanes and my perfectly fine eyes can clearly see the ezpass in our car). When we get to airport, as i handed her cash, she said it will be $60 plus tolls. (Lyft/uber cost $73 at that time). At the end of the day, $20-30 extra bucks won't bankrupt me, but this is about how deceiving the company is and how misadvertising they were. It is about principle and to work with honest people. I am very disappointed with their shameful lies. I strongly, strongly recommend against using this car service. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. read more

Don't know what's up with the other reviews here. I'm also a years-long customer of Eastern. I've dabbled with using other car service companies, but always go back to Eastern. You call them up. They answer. You ask for the price to your destination. They text you the license of your driver. It's great, I have nothing to complain about. They're also dog friendly but I always mention I have one and his size before I disconnect from dispatch. I've had no issues. Since I live in Park Slope, they show up to my place in 5min and they don't cost much. It's cheaper than Lyft, Uber, etc. if you're going to any of the 3 airports (LGA, JFK, EWR). I pay in cash to keep it simple. Very happy with it. read more

Horrendous on every account, except that they may $5 cheaper than their competitors. I have been using them almost too religiously for a few years, and they have increasingly gotten worse as time passes. The app is practically useless and unpredictable... the website even worse. Their drivers often refuse to take credit cards, even when they advertise that they accept them... and then if paying by cash, they pretend they don't have change in hopes of getting a bigger tip. Just the other day, I had a nighttime pickup scheduled at JFK and no one was there when I arrived. When I called the home base to find out what happened, he gave me an excuse of "traffic." First of all, we are in NYC so they should always expect heavy traffic. However, when the driver arrived 30 minutes later, he told me the dispatcher didn't even have record of the pickup but luckily the driver was somewhat nearby and got there within 20 minutes of the call. When I called the base back, they had no answers but told me a manager would call me the next day. It has now been three days. I called today again and no manager was available... go figure. Their customer service is appalling, as they never take blame for faults and are condescending and heartless when you speak to anyone. That may be their biggest downfall. If someone would just pretend to have sympathy when things go awry, and maybe make a tiny step of faith that you want to maintain my business, it would go a long way. That doesn't happen. In fact, quite the opposite. I strongly suggest using another service, as they must forget there are so many in the city, let alone the exact same area even. They said they had a system problem and couldn't get to me in time for my flight so I hopped in an Uber, will not use again as the Uber was $30 more than the car service. read more

I was trying to use a scam service to take my daughter to an appointment. And when I spoke to them on the phone they said that they would do it and take us to the appointment they said that we had to wait 30 minutes for the cab. As we kept asking where the cab driver was he was taking a very long while and then after a good few minutes he decided to text and said no pets in his car which they could've told me before hand so that way I can make it on time for my dogs appointment. And then when I was trying to track the driver it said invalid job. We got a call from them as soon as we landed saying that our car we had RESERVED was taking care of someone else and wouldn't get to us for at least an hour. I said "What do you mean? I booked this weeks ago because I have a child with me?". The response I got was, you can book with another service and there is nothing I can do. I told him I couldn't because I need an infant car seat. He rudely said there is nothing he could do, he doesn't have enough cars and could care less about the predicament he had left us with and HUNG UP on us. Our scheduled $70 car turned into a $250 car ride from another service last minute. This service is NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY, or considerate, or quite frankly, caring to parents. ZERO STARS. After spending half a day in the ER because a family member was hospitalized. I called for a pick up at 1036pm. (I initially didn't see where the car was because the driver had parked BEHIND the location I was standing.) While on the phone he repeatedly YELLS at me (in a thick accent I could barely understand) "stop sign" and "...lights" He also states that he saw me but instead of driving up to where I was he stayed parked behind me and chose to flash his lights instead, which initially I obviously couldn't see bc my back was towards him. At the same time he was yelling on the phone a taxi had just passed me so I naturally assumed he had drove to the end of the block and was waiting at the stop light, hence the reason I didn't look behind me. (In my extremely LIMITED past experience with this car service the driver usually stopped at the stop light which is why I was looking north). So after less than half a minute I turned around and see his blinking car lights, I walk over and he immediately starts YELLING at me again. I explained to him that my eyesight is bad, especially at night (made obvious by my glasses) but he CONTINUES TO YELL at me. I was livid at that point so I told him to forget it. Eastern Car Service is the best- they are super fast and super reliable (when they say they'll be there in five minutes, they mean it). I have never had a problem with them in all of my years of calling them up-- definitely my go-to car service... they'll even listen to suggestions if you know of a better route from A to B. Basically I am calling to go to dialysis their dispatcher decides to make me wait 40 mins without sending me the car. This is not the first time this has happened with this dispatcher. He says "sending the car in 5 mins" they send you a basic text then you wait 20 mins and the car and no other text comes. You call back and they hang up on you then when they do get you on they say "sending the car in 3 mins" again no msg other than a simple one. No return call nothing. You call back now another 20 mins have gone by and they say "oh sorry the driver left". Again these guys have a racket going they are either selling drugs through their service or are just being abusive.
