WOW, I have had a great start with the services offered by these guys. I was looking to switch vets, due to moving...and this office is literally around the corner from me.I had not been officially seen by the vet, had gotten all my paperwork from the previous vet, BUT a week before our 1st official visit, my dog develops hives, and NOT just a few...they said come on over, bring the paperwork, and saw me..and I'm not the average dog owner, I'm a bit picky...do a lot of reading, question every thing, my dogs are my heart..they made me feel like I'd ALWAYS been there. I had tje official visit and have nothing but praise for office staff, Drs Kris and Parks, vet techs, all were FABULOUS! The kicker was, Clinton had a lyme vaccinec developed a strange swelling under jaw, I had emailed and asked about this, and within minutes got an email back...NOW I Thought I'd been talking to Dr Kris...and went into this long explanation cause he developed hives again after I had taken him in for the official visit, THE next email I got was from Kris the OFFICE MANAGER... I had to laugh,,, cause she encouraged me to call and leave a message, and that I should bring him in...but she was going to put the correspondance in his chart, and make sure that someone saw it...this was all after hours....SO, in my book, that iced the cake... SO VERY GLAD to have chosen EAST SIDE VET TO CARE for MY furbabies! !! read more

My animals have been patients of this veterinary clinic since the mid 1980s. The vets are very good especially Doctor Eric like other vets their prices are very expensive unfortunately. The front desk staff tend to be rude, uncaring, and unsympathetic. Last year my cat needed to be euthanized so I called in the morning asking that she be euthanized that day. The staff rudely said that they couldn't fit me in and to call an emergency hospital. They were rude and short with me. I had to insist to talk to one of the vets explaining that they always accommodated us with this terrible sad and emotional decision. Finally I was allowed to bring my cat in at the end of the day. My poor cat suffered all day waiting for the procedure. In the past they sympathetically fit me in immediately. I will never forgive the front desk people on how rudely they treated me and made my cat suffer After my current cat dies and if I should get another pet I will find a more caring veterinary clinic read more

DO NOT USE THEM! I unfortunately used them for 18.5 years and when it was time for end of life care for my boy, I had an appointment in the afternoon before hand but they couldn't accommodate. I wrote them a letter about the horrible care I did receive and how they wanted payment first before taking my boy from me off my lap, it was Awful!!!!!!! worst experience I have ever had! once they received my letter-that I waited a month to write because I wanted to calm down, they sent me a letter back stating I am no longer invited to be a customer of theirs anymore... and my letter to them was just expressing to the owners about my experience with their workers and how upset I was! do not use them!!!! please bring your baby somewhere else! read more

I've been taking my kitties to East Side for a few years now and I am so pleased with their services! Everyone at the front desk is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Both Dr. Kris and Dr. Eric are thorough, communicative, and kind. They actually listen to and address my concerns, and seem to truly care about my fur babies. I can tell our cats feel comfortable at East Side too (-as comfortable as a cat can feel while at the vet)! Best place to bring your pet ! Very professional, courteous and knowledgeable . This place is very clean and treats are plentiful. Kris a delight for us taking excellent care of our Nala . I had to muzzle her due to her extra excitement today ,but soon as the muzzle went on she was a good girl . Gave us great advice and proper care for our fur baby . Definitely recommend this place . Just got turned down to adopt a puppy by the Meriden humane society because east side vets gave me a bad review. I would take my dogs to pet shops for their shots because it was cheaper but never pay attention to the paper work. Do You think eastside vet would call me and question about the dogs shots, no they just said I haven't been there in awhile and now I can't adopt a puppy from M.H.S. if eastside vets cared they would have follow through. Eastside vets are bullies in there business and to be avoided. Love to see eastside vet go bankrupt have no business dealing with our pets. read more

Whenever you call the staff is very rude. They seem to always have an attitude and never have time for your pet. Appointments are never available in the time of need.. We called because our dog was in need of emergency surgery. We explained that the emergency hospital said her ovaries were infected and they said I'm sorry there's nothing we can do in this is why we tell you to get her spayed at an early age with no remorse!! They are all caring. I had left a message this morning about one of my cats and said I would be calling them once I got to work. They were on the phone calling me as I was walking into work. I've been a client of East Side Veterinary Clinic for over 25 years and would never consider going anywhere else. Dr. Eric and Dr. Kris are the best most compassionate doctors and the prices at East Side are well within the better prices for vet care. Over the years I've had multiple dogs and cats and have never had a bad experience with this clinic. I've adopted animals through this clinic, as well. I've also had to deal with the end of life of some of my pets, and the compassion and care they have provided to both my pets and to me has been exemplary. Highly recommend this practice! read more

I am so done with this place. I have taken my cat and a dog that I once had there, the experience then was not great. I thought I would give it another chance and made an appointment for a new pet and off the back it was already becoming an issue. On the day of the appointment, while I was on my way, I get a call that I had missed the appointment. The appointment was for 8:30 and "supposedly" it was for 8:15, I assured the person I spoke with that it was for 8:30 and that I was already on my way. She said " well it wasn't, and you will have to wait to be squeezed in between other patients because we have a busy day!!!". Seriously?? My appointment was for 8:30 not 8:15/ She was so rude, when I told her I would have to cancel, she just said "Okay", and hung up. Wow!!! so unprofessional. This was their third strike with me. I rather drive far to take my pet. You would think that for a first time pet's appointment, they would be kinder. 1 star, is too much. That receptionist should be fired. Extremely expensive and disorganized. We were interested in rescuing our second shelter dog and gave East Side Vet as our vet reference. When the rescue called East Side to confirm the dog we already own was neutered and up-to-date, East Side actually told the woman our dog was not neutered and not on heartworm preventative. TOTALLY UNTRUE. We adopted our first dog from a shelter and he was neutered when we got him. He was also un heartworm preventative which they should have seen since they tested him 2 months prior for it and he was negative! Needless to say, we picked up our dog's records the next day and found a new vet. Overall, very disappointed with the lack of organization and high prices. read more

Let me start by saying I don't have kids and have a ten year old boxer. The first dog I've ever had. To say he's important to me would be an understatement. That being said, DVMs Eric and Kris Park and their staff have always treated my dog as if he was one of their family. Recently, however, DVMs Kris and Eric Park and their staff were extra special. My dog had not been feeling well. I had been in contact with them in an attempt to figure out what might be the problem. Then mine night in early April Jake groaned unlike I had never heard before. I looked down and his stomach was distended. I went to the clinic first thing in the morning unsure if Jake was coming home with me. We had the talk...but, Dr Eric said he was going to do another test of his heart. He said that a few things, if affecting Jake would show up on the EKG. Two did. Meanwhile Dr Kris was passing through as it was her day off...she proceeded to draw 65 syringes of fluid from his stomach. Dr. Kris and the vet tech allowed me to be with them while they were taking care of Jake. Dr. Eric came back and said we were going to change his medicine immediately. Jake lost ten pounds while at the clinic that day, but then we changed his medicine. He not only woke up the next day, but he was my "old" Jake back. He's still with me a couple of months later. Every day with Jake is a blessing regardless of how much longer we have together, but the days I've been able to spend with him are all because of East Sides DVMs and their unbelievable staff! My cat was treated by them for 12 years but after this last annual visit we will be taking him elsewhere. He has always been afraid of going to the vet but I was extremely disappointed and shocked by your treatment of my cat. He was treated harshly and insensitively! The vet said there was a note in my cat's file to be cautious in handling him but he has never bitten any vet in his past visits. My cat only hissed which is a normal reaction for a cat that is scared and wants to be left alone. I was surprised by your decision to have him held down by an assistant because this method only made him more terrified, displaying his reaction with stronger hissing and enlarging his eyes. I had never seen my cat act like this before. This was definitely a traumatic experience for him. It took his three to five days to warm up to the family. Unfortunately, I took the role of the trusting customer who believes "doctor knows best". I will not be going back there, they were rude to us and our cat-not okay. read more

Never imagined being so let down from a veterinary clinic. For starters, they mislabeled medicines for my puppy twice. Ok mistakes happen. They then told me that the only preventative for Giardia was to wipe my puppy's paws and bottom with baby wipes, nothing else. That the other animals in the house are fine, that nothing else had to be cleaned. When in reality there is SO much more that needs to happen but you can ask your vet (as long as they're not here) about that. So after my puppy developed Giardia for the 3rd time in as many months, they finally disclose that a local hiking spots (Giuffrida Park) water was contaminated with Giardia! After the 3rd time! Not the first or second. And the doctor who told me said he hadn't taken his dog there since they knew about it that following fall. 2 months before I even owned my puppy. So clearly it was information they knew the 1st time she got sick. But hey anything to keep me coming in for check ups right? It is sad that a place can be run as such and I highly recommend never bringing your animal here. read more

I have 2 small dogs. A chihuahua and a pekingnes. I noticed last night that a little blood was in the urine on the pee pad from my pekingnes. Last week I had a 3rd major surgery on my knee. I cannot walk until I recuperate. I call East Side Vet to ask them if they would prescribe an antibiotic for my little girl. They told me I would have to bring her in. I explained that I was unable to do that because I just had surgery and I am physically unable to. They insisted that they could not and that it's "the law." I begged them but no. Against my doctors orders I got my walker and got in my car and drove to another veteranarian. The intake woman came over to me immediately because she could see that I was struggeling. She brought me into a private room. I told her my dilemna. She left the room to speak to the vet. A minute later she came back with the vet. This vet could not have been kinder. She not only gave me the prescription that I needed but told me that from here on in whenever I need vet care and I am unable to get my dogs to the vet that she would come by my house...free of charge! You see, she did not care about the law. She cares more about the animal and is compassionate. Needless to say this us where I am going for my vet care from now on. I am just glad this happened now because my dogs are due for their shots. I glad that ESV will not get $300 of my money for that. Which is too high anyway! And their prices are way too high. read more
