I wish I could give them more starts, but I just can't. I'll start by saying that the staff is friendly. The doctor we saw, however, was disinterested at best. We had two dogs in to see him and he didn't even listen to their hearts and lungs, even though one of the dogs was there specifically for a cough. Blood work was done on him and a stool sample and that was it. We went somewhere else where X-rays and ultrasounds were done and we found a mass on one of his lungs! Our other dog needed a growth removed and they said he would have to be completely sedated. We went to another vet who was able to remove it without having to put him under. Their offices and equipment are old and just don't seem to be up to par. I've been to them in the past for routine visits, but I probably won't go back again. read more

My now one year old dog has received wonderful care. She was also spayed there with Dr Nora who did wonderful job. The staff is caring and patient. My experience with several visits due to all the attention new puppies require, has been nothing but excellent. read more

UNPROFESSIONAL--RUDE -- UNBELIEVABLY EXPENSIVE Dr Nora is one of the most UNPROFESSIONAL vets I've ever come across. She misdiagnosed a growth in my beloved Archibald's leg, she said it was "scar tissue " when in fact, we find out 6 months later that it was actually foreign material in his body. We brought our dog in to East Hampton Vet as she was diagnosed with Pancreatitis, inflammation in her Liver, inflammation in her intestines as well as stones in her kidneys after a scary episode which forced us to bring her to the local animal hospital 2 nights before. We took the blood work, the X-rays and the forms that the Vet asks you to fill out prior to coming in to this vet as we wanted to try a more natural approach. The entire visit lasted about 5 minutes and we were rushed in an out of the facility with what felt like little to no regard for our pet. We traveled over an hour to try this vet because of the reputation of the prior owner which we assumed transferred through to the current team which by our estimates did not. We were told to go back to the hospital and get the blood work redone and that was it. There was no further discussion and they never asked any real questions to truly understand our dogs health. This email is concerning the lack of care for my Persian cat. The Madame received during her boarding Dec 8-19, 2020. She arrived home covered in feces, with her eyes crusted shut and unbrushed. I filled in the online form concerning her care and was quite clear about her eyes and brushing. Her Viralysis medication appeared not to be used, and the cotton pads I provided for her eyes were 100% untouched, unused. The technician explained when she was collected that she did not have a bed. This was not clear when she was dropped off or on the website to include a bed for her. Here are the photos of what she usually looks like and how she arrived home. Updating my review since Saturday. Very disappointed with the quality of care my dog received. She had surgery here Saturday morning and by Monday her wounds were very infected and we were back at the emergency animal hospital and then back at her usual vet Tuesday for another emergency procedure as the initial surgery was done poorly and areas that were stitched never should've been closed up and it held in the bacteria and festered. She now has a drain in place thanks to this location, we're really upset and disappointed. Had to spend another thousand dollars to get it right. Will not be retuning here. read more

BEWARE. It's devastating to realize that their "wellness" visits for my recently euthanized yorkie over 10 years, were more like brief check-ins, not exams that could have revealed danger lurking within. We were always told by East Hampton Veterinary Group that she was in good health. For example, when we asked about her weight gain, it was met with "Oh she's a good eater, don't worry." Other concerns were similarly dismissed. What did we know? We don't have a degree from Vet School. Our beloved yorkie was recently rushed to the ER vet in Riverhead where I was told her protruding belly was in fact due to tumors on her liver lobes, that had diffused and were affecting her kidneys and pancreas. Her blood would not coagulate, and her trachea was almost completely collapsed among other undiagnosed disorders. I learned from four different Vets at the ER Center that when a small dog reaches 9 or 10, they should undergo a battery of Geriatric Exams to investigate potential problems with liver, kidney, etc. Had my yorkie been offered these tests maybe she would still be with us. We asked for the written ER report on this emergency euthanasia and received it immediately from the ER in Riverhead. The East Hampton Veterinary Group has failed to acknowledge our request. When I moved to the Hamptons, I was worried about the cost of vet care. I shouldn't have. East Hampton Vet Group is very reasonable (considering), and as well, I never feel upsold or pressured when I'm there. I feel like the staff really understands the financial pressure pet owners can face. I recently had to put one of my beloved dogs to sleep, and the staff here could not have been nicer or more sympathetic. I'm a new-ish client for life now. read more

About 4 years ago my 12 year dog was very sick, with blue lips. It was 5 pm and the vet( whose name I psychologically have forgotten- I only recall that she was female and had blond hair) chose not to stay to care for my dog. She was clearly in a rush to leave. I was told to travel to Riverhead to an urgent care facility. My dog was dying. She should have been put down. Instead she suffered all the way to Riverhead where she was put in an incubator with oxygen. She died a few hours later. I should have contacted the chief vet after the incident but was so upset I left the practice. Perhaps things are different now. I hope this was an isolated incident. November. 2020: Regarding the kennel: It is more of a drop your dog off. They do not exercise the dogs. It is best to find a kennel rather than a vet who takes dogs overnight. THEY LOST MY DOG! I know mistakes happen but their boarding facility is not up to code. They don't have DOUBLE GATES which is how my dog ran off. They are nice people and they even tried to find my dog but said they would stop at nightfall. I was out all night looking for my dog. If you can, please use another service for Boarding as I am not convinced they have the proper skills or facilities to care for boarding dogs. I was very pleased with them as Veterinarians and that made me feel comfortable in trusting them to board my dog. I sometimes travel for work and need to leave my dog with family or board him a few nights. This time I decided to use EHVG and the next day Dr. Palmer called (an hour after he lost my dog) to tell me my dog had escaped when someone opened the gate where they keep the dogs. All gates in that area shall be either LOCKED or DOUBLE GATED, to prevent something like this happening. Go somewhere else for Boarding. read more

I live in Bluffton, SC, but I spend my summers in the East End. I had a grooming appointment scheduled for May 28th and had received 2 emails confirming the appointment. I was driving up from SC, and I received a call from the practice on May 27th, canceling the appointment. As the employee explained, the practice had assumed that grooming could resume when Suffolk County started phase 1 of the reopening of Long Island. Less than 30 minutes later, I received another email, once again confirming my appointment. Pathetic is the word that comes to my mind as to how East Hampton Veterinary Group handled this situation. However, the situation deteriorated further. I called on June 5th to confirm that grooming would resume on June 10th. An employee of County Executive Steve Bellone had informed me that pet grooming fell under the category of phase 2 of the reopening of Suffolk County. The employee at this practice responded that East Hampton Veterinary Group didn't know and didn't care as they had decided to suspend grooming for the entire summer. I realize we're in the midst of a pandemic, but the lack of professionalism exhibited by the employee was mind boggling. Grooming is critical to maintaining an animal's health and wellbeing. Clearly, clients who use this practice for grooming are deserving of an explanation as to why this service will not be available for the summer. I loved this place I was a little skeptical about bringing my dog to a new vet but after meeting the staff and talking with the doctor I felt very comfortable leaving my dog with them they gave me a very accurate estimate. Thank you to all the staff at EHVG!!!!!! Bagel (my 12 yr old beagle mix) needed emergency surgery , his spleen had started to rupture and needed to be removed. I went to pick him up at 4:00 the same day , he trotted out with his tail wagging and looks better then ever 3 days later! Only my first visit but very pleased so far. Despite the influx of summer pets, I was able to schedule a visit for my new puppy within a reasonable period. The new patient process was explained in detail on the phone and was easy to do online. The staff is friendly and very professional. Dr. Simon was first-rate. The people who run this place are the rudest most unprofessional people I've ever met. For the last year and a half I have taken my dog there because they are supposedly "the best". Well they aren't. They manhandled my dog when clipping the nails that he was so traumatized and shaking that I had to hold him for two hours before he calmed down. They refused to allow me back to witness what was going on. Now I know why. When I had an emergency the person at the front told me I was over reacting and I had to take a two and a half hour drive in traffic to the hospital in riverhead. Ans thank god I did because he would have been dead had I not. I question whether the care is "the best" after that episode. Once you get with the vets they are both nice but nice isn't a good vet. And, who needs the hassle of the rudeness and unprofessionalism of the rest of the crew? Not I. I will not take my pet there again EVER. read more

Would have given four stars except that the vet techs (all 3) sitting at the front were extremely rude. They literally ignored me for 5 minutes when I walked in while they were gossiping. They were similarly rude after I came out to pay, and made me wait again for them to finish their conversation before charging me nearly 100 dollars just to have the vet look at my dog and say he's fine. I have never written a review of anything before. I don't even think they deserve one star. I brought my dog in for a visit as she had become incontinent. I suspected a bladder infection. I explained to the vet my concerns. He berated me and kept correcting me. He did a cursory exam - told me my dog was blind. The exam room was dirty and rusty and in disrepair. The scale weighed my dog 10% higher than her actual weight. The vet looked in her eyes and asked me questions. Took her temp and that was the full exam. They took the dog away to get blood and urine. He could not get the urine and sent me outside to collect the sample. We paid and left. The vet called my husband the next day. Berated us as the urine sample had too much bacteria? Then said she needed a kidney diet and pills for incontinence. I brought her to another vet. She was diagnosed for a bladder infection and given antibiotics. THIS IS WHAT I WENT IN FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE. The level of care and concern was deplorable. Again I have NEVER written a review in my life. It took a lot for me to do so. read more

SO I went camping last weekend with some friends at Hither Hills in Montauk. The website clearly states that dogs are allowed at certain campsites and since it was almost November we didn't think that rule would apply to harshly. After the first night we were told the dog had to leave and after driving 4hrs from So Connecticut we really didn't want to leave so we tried calling some places in the area. EHVC was so great in accomodating us in our predicament and we were very grateful for them to help us in a bind. If they were closer to Norwalk then we would use them as our permanent vet. read more

East Hampton Veterinary group is every thing a vet practice should be and more. When I lost a dog to bloat they did everything in their power to save her. They were kind and caring, in our loss. Worst vet group I have ever experienced. They misdiagnosed my dog's ailment, admitted it and would not reimburse their astronomical fees after my dog passed on shortly after. I only discovered the real illness after taking my dog to the vet hospital in West Islip in the interim, but it was too late. Stay away. read more
