Tiki, my precious ginger tabby, died one the way here. I knew he died, but I was in shock. So, I walk in with him his little basket, wrapped in his blanket and the first thing out of my mouth was something along the lines of "my kitty just died" They woman working at the desk was SOOOO incredibly warm and supportive, The took the basket with Tiki inside back to the doctors to confirm (just in case) and then allowed me to sob and ramble on like a lunatic for the next five minutes. Once I was as calm as anyone could be in this situation, they walked me through what I wanted to do with his body and were so gentle and caring throughout the whole thing. Thank you so much for your compassion!

RIP Waldorf: I hope you can save other animals with this post

AVOID TAKING YOUR PET HERE AT ALL COSTS!!Read other 1 star reviews! Great docs left here like Dr Lombardi!! THIS IS HORRIBLE! My dog was diagnosed was mild pneumonia on a Thursday and sent home (even though the vet knew he had severe breathing issues.) I had to rush my dog back in the next day because he was struggling to breathe. Once my dog was admitted, I did not receive the update calls I was promised. In addition, every time the doctor changed shifts I was given conflicting information. By the next day (Saturday) I was asked to come say "goodbye" to my dog as this particular vet now thought he "was looking at a dog about to die." What just happened?! He claimed to have "called other ER vet doctors" to see if anything could change and alleged it could not. My husband and I asked if oxygen could be given to our dog through nasal airways and this vet said "no, that's what I asked other ER vets." However, the next rotating ER vet came in and when I called for an update (yes- YOU need to be prepared to call and wait for the doctor for EVERY update unless the one great ER vet happens to be on rotation,) she informed me she WAS putting nasal oxygen in my dog to assist with his breathing (admitted to ER Friday, now Sunday!) and stated she had never heard of what the previous vet was talking about! RED FLAG! This vet than continued to say that East End Vet Center "IS NOT A CRITICAL CARE CENTER" and maybe my dog should be moved to a "facility with a ventilator" as they do not have that sort of equipment. She said she would assess and call me back. This is where I am dumbfounded: if my dog has been declining since Friday (as each vet I HAVE CALLED was unsure about and then I was called to say goodbye he is dying- why didn't anyone tell me they were incapable of helping him and he should be moved to an ACTUAL VETERINARY ER?! Both my husband and I each called on separate occasions to to get that assessment and find out the status of our dog (as we were called into the ER last evening to say goodbye to him!) What was going on?! Now we learned our family brought him to a highly INCAPABLE "ER." Thankfully, our dog had his last rotation with the kind female ER vet on rotation, Dr McGraw, who was now the only vet in this facility who has our trust (for now.) She actually called us to update us Sunday evening and was hopeful; by Monday morning however our dog had taken a turn for the worse and was struggling to breathe. She called me right away to come up and together we did the only thing we could do so my dog wasn't suffering anymore. My dog died very early Monday morning in my arms. He had just turned five. In addition now to being disappointed by the fact the vets did not send me elsewhere immediately to a "critical care pet ER," I was constantly invoiced, errors were always being made (my payment was initially applied to another dog,) and when I asked a question about a total due (EVEN emphasizing that I would pay for anything my dog needed and was only asking for how the total was arrived at) I received a very rude and curt email back from billing. People working here should have empathy for the customers as they are losing pets (AND IF THEY KEEP THESE VETERINARIANS EVERY PET BROUGHT INTO THE ER WILL BE LOST!) This did exclude Dr McGraw until I just received a call from Dr Larkin (who can't grasp being honest/taking accountability) and threw Dr McGraw under the bus. Dr McGraw: I hope you were honest with me, and can stand strong and be honest with Dr L. All I ever ask for is honesty. What is going on there?! I've lost six dogs in my lifetime thus far; this one stung the most. Dr. Larkin should never have sent my dog home with pneumonia knowing my dog had breathing issues (he literally just evaluated him for that very thing!) The ER Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday was filled with contradicting veterinarians who did not seem to know how to treat pneumonia and our family was not updated at all (hardly any notes were even kept on my dog for the 63ish hours in total my dog spent at EEVC,) we were informed too late that EEVC really is NOT an ER for pets! I regret bringing my dog there!! Please do not make the same mistake I did. I paid $13,000.00 and lost a best friend that I now think I could have saved if I only drove another twenty minutes west. I am not angry towards the staff as they could not predict death; however I am angry at myself for bringing my dog here in the first place. Still waiting on call from owners. Ha. RIP Waldorf

Very compassionate and caring although it was too late to save my 13 year old yorkie from congestive heart failure. East End Veterinary Center made the passing of my little one more comfortable, thank you for your caring and quality care at this difficult time.

After reading the comments, I felt I needed to leave a review and state my experience. My puppy,…read moreunfortunately, had broken his foot and needed Orthopedic surgery. The medical staff is excellent, and the surgeon did a fantastic job explaining the process and healing timeline. However, my initial experience arriving on the first day is the part I wanted to address in my review. Yes, the surgery is expensive. However, one particular individual needed business etiquette classes. No compassion at all and sticks a statement with two prices. A high and low estimate and proceeds to tell me if I want to look elsewhere, it's my option. You would think when someone provides you with a $6K bill, a bit of compassion is shown, especially if you don't know someone's financial background. How about explaining options? How about explaining what I'm about to pay $6,800 for? I stressed about my puppy breaking his foot, and someone who treats you like a dollar is not cool. Again, my experience with the rest of the staff was excellent. The medical team and the medical techs are fantastic. The girls at the front desk are patient and helpful. However, some need to understand how to speak to paying customers, especially those paying thousands of dollars. Overall my experience was positive, and I hope this can become a learning experience for some.

My dog Harvey had ACL surgery in September 2025. Firstly I…read morewill say Dr Arnold Lesser "appears" to have competently performed the surgery. Now the bad part. The office he works out of is interested in 1 thing. Not my pet's well being. They are interested in money. The deal was a flat "package deal" of $6500. This was supposed to be $1000 discount as per Dr Lesser. This was said to me and my wife VERY clearly. That was the fee and no additions unless something went horribly wrong. Thankfully nothing did. He is healing. At each time of bringing Harvey in for the next step the office staff attempted to overcharge me. Each time I explained that the arrangement was a package deal of $6500. Each time they had to consult someone else as if it is not stated clearly on the invoice they and I both have copies of. Each time they backed down. Until... today. We are 10 weeks out from removing his stiches. This is the timeframe that Dr Lesser instructed me to bring him back for his final xray to make sure everything is good. It was NEVER said that this xray was an additional fee. Never did anyone tell me when I made the appt that there was an additional fee. I got there this morning to be confronted with an $854 estimate for this xray. I protested and said exactly what I said the prior 2 times. I was being over charged for a "package deal". First by the nurse, then the office manager. I asked her to contact Dr Lesser. She claims he says that is not what he said. YES YOU DID! Dr Lesser I hope you read this and 1 of 2 things happens: either you chew out the people who lied about what you said and reschedule Harvey's included xray OR you call me at (631) 258-8766 and apologize for lying to me. One of you is lying. You absolutely said the price was $6500 for everything. I cannot, with good conscience, say my dog was mistreated in any way at this place but I DEFINITELY was. I guess the bottom line is you had better get every little thing in writing from this place as far as cost because they WILL try to screw you. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because Harvey is OK.

As this was my very first time leaving my pup I was worried how Sammy would adapt. However, Mike sent me videos of Sammy and that allowed me to be at ease and enjoy my vacay. Originally I was only going to leave my baby for 5 days, unfortunately the airlines screwed up and cancelled my flight 2 hrs beforehand. I panicked and immediately messaged Mike and mentioned I was stuck at my destination for another 2 days and didn't pack enough food for Sammy. Mike was very accommodating and understanding and fed Sammz only the brand I feed. Sammy is much more calm and doesn't pull on his leash during his walks anymore and stays by my side while crossing the street now. I am very grateful to find such a sitter and will definitely be coming back to Mike. I will also be recommending him to all my friends. And friends, friends, & colleagues.

But outside of his annoying issues, he's awesome, and let's face it, our pets deserve as much love and cuddle-time as possible. My friends recommended Mike of Paws Up NYC after he took care of their dog, who had aggression with other dogs, including mine, due to not being socialized when younger and snapped whenever another dog got within 5 feet. After two weeks of Mike taking care of her, their dog had no problem with dogs. Because my usual dogsitter was on vacation, I decided to use the time to try Mike out, and I'm glad I did! When I returned, Shabu was noticeably calmer indoors, so right away I knew Mike had done some training with him during his staycation. While Shabu doesn't have command issues, he does have behavioral issues and Mike had some (free) advice and suggestions that helped a ton; I believe he also tried to work with him on those issues but it's difficult because the permanent home is different from a temporary home. Regardless, it has helped to an extent for sure. Since then, I've been bringing my dog to Mike since he lives a bit closer as well. He really takes the time to get to know your dog's habits and quirks, meanwhile integrating them into the pack slowly (with new dogs) so as not to spaz any of them out. He can teach your dog basic commands or any new tricks if you'd like (there is a questionnaire that you fill out). The best part of the entire thing is that he keeps you updated the entire time with videos and photos so you don't have to freak out and worry how things are going. Not only is he great with dogs, he is very genuine and easy-going and makes you feel relieved with leaving your pup behind. I highly recommend Mike for anyone in the Queens area (or further if you are ok with traveling) for daycare, boarding or training. As for daily/weekly rates, it is on point with others in the area, so there is absolutely no excuse not to head to Paws Up. Now if only he could take care of my cat-dog*... *Cat that thinks and acts like a dog - not a half-cat, half-dog mythical creature
