This place is amazing. I know I suggest them to everyone but they honestly treat every dog like their own and they listen to the owners when they say somethings wrong. Ellie is the most loving, playful dog I've ever had. So when somethings wrong with her it's very noticeable. She gave us a heart attack last night because she was having trouble controlling her legs. Went to the ER they scanned her said she might be fine (after accusing us of bringing her in and "nothing being wrong with her") or it could just be neurological. Then quoted us $1600 for the same work that we paid less then half the price of this morning at MLVH. As soon as I called the vets knew immediately I was not kidding. But, only Ellie when we walk in she's filled with adrenaline and happy because my dog LOVES. Her normal vets. They walked us through every test and scan they did with her and helped her when her anxiety kicked in. They gave us options and treatments and plans and gave Ellie LOTS of treats. I cannot express how much respect I have for the people there and I wouldn't know what to do without them. read more

The vet that really caught my attention is one who only comes into the office on Wednesday - - he's more of a traveling vet, and I liked him and took his advice about taking certain extra vitamins, and he only prescribed them for that one time. he didn't think dog should stay on things forever and I liked him for that. read more

Do not go here. The doctors are on a complete rotation. They do not discuss the health of your pet specifically gave my 16-year-old cat a Vaccine that should never have happened and I am really not happy with the service and the staff here. read more

I am very grateful to Dr. Alfred and the team at Mattituck-Laurel Vererinariny Hospital. We were out on the North Fork on vacation just before Labor Day Weekend and my dog Jake (who is like my baby to me) had new onset seizures. I showed up at this non-emergency vet frightened and crying. They were great. I only drop one star because we had to wait over an hour to be seen (but really, I should have taken the time to look for an emergency vet). Dr. Alfred was thoughtful, kind and thorough. When one of Jake's labs came back very abnormal a few days later - on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend (Dr. Alfred was not working), yet she still contacted me with some urgency so that I could tell Jake's veterinarian of the abnormal result. I would recommend this practice and Dr. Alfred to anyone! read more

We come here because Dr Dunbar is amazing. However some of the staff is incompetent. We have had issues where they forget to send scripts over or have told us when our dogs pass they don't send them to certain crematory where we have to tell them NO WE PAYING YOU, THIS IS WHERE THEY GOING ". Now the latest is they lost our dogs paw print since June. All they can say is well we trying to call people to find it. But their tone you can tell is they don't care. After all the money we spent in this place with all of our rescues, they should be a little more caring. I've heard from A few others who used to come here too, they lost their dogs prints too. The carelessness in this place is ridiculous. We taking our business elsewhere read more

This is the most amazing veterinary practice. I found what I thought was a tick on my cat and I panicked. The staff got me in right away, a lovely vet tech checked out the cat - even ran it past one of the veterinarians. It tuned out not to be a tick, but what struck me the most was the compassion and customer service of everyone I encountered at the practice. Remarkable, especially in this day and age. read more

We had to bring our dog Gertrude in for an emergency and the staff there is always so great. This time I have to directly call out Dr. Kimmel who we have used for all of our pets. He was wonderful and caring and made sure we knew exactly what was going on with Gert even though we couldn't be there. He made a very stressful time a lot less stressful calling with updates as she improved. He has called us multiple times now to check in and see how she is doing. I am so grateful to Mattituck-Laurel Vet Hospital for helping my cat! I sent in an appointment request on Sunday morning. They called back less than 10 minutes later, and were even willing to squeeze me in before they closed at 11. (I couldn't wrangle my cat in time, but still!) They fit us in the next afternoon, and we did have to wait a bit longer than anticipated, but I think they had a few doctors out and they kept me updated constantly. The reception team is very friendly and helpful, and the reception area is totally clean. The veterinarian and the tech who helped me were very gentle and calm with my cat, and they were great at explaining everything they were looking for. They had to keep him for two nights and put a catheter in, but I was encouraged to call for updates and the vet kept me updated with everything she was doing for him. I picked him up and brought him and all his medications home. I don't feel like their pricing is unfair; they even suggested a cheaper place to purchase my cat's new prescription food. It was not a cheap treatment, but my cat would've gotten very sick had I not brought him in. I would take half a star off probably, because my cat also needed tapeworm medication and the vet forgot to do that, but she was honest about it and gave me the ointment for free. This office also takes care of our 100 lb pit bull with no problems. My family has taken our pets to this vet for probably twenty years now, and they simply are the best! read more

We are so grateful for their wonderful, compassionate care. We don't live in the area and brought my sweet Chocolate Lab, Annie, in as an emergency. It was an extremely difficult time for us as Annie's illness was fatal we eventually had to put her down. Every person I had contact with was extremely helpful. I'd like to give a special thanks to Wendy, who was my main contact. She carefully explained fees, test results, and options. These folks are doing amazing work during the Covid crisis. They have devised a system where you wait in the parking lot and they receive and return your pet for you. The doctor speaks to you over the phone and the front desk is extremely helpful as an intermediary and in processing payment. I imagine the call volume must be very high at the front desk, but they are always very helpful and positive. If this crisis is stressing their systems, which it must be, they are not showing it and their service remains top-notch. read more

The only vet group on Long Island that I trust. They always go above and beyond. With a dog who has epilepsy, it's important for me to know that they care as much as I do. I get follow up calls to see how he's doing and the staff (although overwhelmed at times dealing with phone calls and counter-recommendations on how to fix that to come) treats me like an old friend. One and only thing I would change is maybe setting up a designated call center so the staff doesn't have to make people at the counter wait while handling a phone call or vice versa, if you are calling you're put on hold while staff deals with clients which takes some time. Other than that one little annoyance this vet group is top notch...all the doctors,techs, and support staff. #1! read more

Please be aware of getting charged for services that you are not aware of. I took my cats for a Rabie shots and came out with a $200 bill. They were each given an exam that I was told after the fact "by law" they have to do because they had never been seen before. They went in for a $26 shot and came out with a $200 bill. Not the first time they have charge us for services that we were not told about. read more

we have two cats and one is a right little monster when it comes to seeing the vet, total love at home but at the Vets spitting, biting etc. takes one vet and two assistants with a large blanket to get any kind of visit done, and of course we have to take him regularly as he has diabetes, and yet never a moan or complaint from anyone there, truly loving and caring for my pet. FANTASTIC; best (and best value) on the North Fork. The place is CLEAN and pleasant; no weird smells. ;) The office staff is as polite, helpful, and genuinely caring as they come. The vets LISTEN to your concerns, don't treat any questions as stupid questions, and aren't in a rush to go overboard. They clearly practice good clinical skills which saves you having to spend lots on lab tests and other diagnostics. For example, when my dog was hurt recently, Dr. Peck explained that you could tell that there was no internal bleeding because her gums were pink and that they turned pink again quickly after being pressed, and that there had been no trauma to the chest cavity because he LISTENED to her heart and lungs, which were normal. I SO appreciate this responsible practice of medicine. When it turned out that my dog did need a surgical intervention, I felt confident that I had the information I needed to make the right decision, and I TRUSTED them 100% that they were not taking me to the bank or trying to profit off of my anxiety. read more

I used this vet when I first moved out here - spent a significant amount of money trying to diagnose one of my dogs. They could not figure out what was wrong (understandable that happens) but symptoms continued with no diagnosis and after spending thousands could barely get a call back. I have multiple dogs and I felt it was a very impersonal place. Despite my going for years no one knew my name, my dogs names so a bit like a factory. Used this vet for years and spent many a thousands of dollars on check ups, treatments etc. No one even knew my name or my dogs name. Once my dog got very sick I was in with the doctor for maybe the sixth or seventh time - I said do you know this dogs name - he said I am sorry I don't and that is when I said to myself this is not the place for me. I made a move to another vet and am very pleased with my choice. I will say however I hear Dr Timpone is a good vet and people I know are very happy with this practice. For me I need a bit more of a relationship with my vet since I have four dogs I am there quite a bit and would like them to know my name. read more

You would think those in this profession would have a little compassion. I have 6 cats, always pay my bill. But a virus is getting all my cats so I spend $150 last Thursday on one fevered cat and now another on with fever of 104.8 and they won't advise me over the phone nor allow me to pay in two installments. I found Aquebogue vet to have a heart and not demand all money up front. Can't get blood from a stone! I'm sorry I rescue cats, abs more sorry I ever went to Mattituck Laurel Vet. It's just a paycheck for them. read more
