In the summer, Hot work.. So, the job consisted of removal of old asphalt, grading, applying binder cost, compacting and then finish with class 1 topcoat and cleanup. The estimator was punctual to his appointment. The price submitted was correct and reasonable for the job. The appointment was made for the work 3 weeks out. The office confirmed the appointment a few days ahead of arrival. The crew with Mike (owner), at the helm arrived at exactly at the time and date established. The crew of 6 (7 with Mike), worked flawlessly together like a well tuned orchestra doing a symphony. In a few short hours the job was completed, the work completely cleaned up! No hesitation here: highly recommend! 5 stars ! Ken Postscript: LOOK.. Asphalt paving is a real tough occupation. Good help is difficult to find and keep. Customers, (especially ones that are not familiar with the "paving trade", are sometimes not treated honestly and overpay for substandard work. I had my driveway done by RI Paveway in October of 2024 for approximately $5,000. It is barely a…read moreyear later and the driveway is starting to peel up in a number of places due to normal usage. I have been in contact with RI Paveway since July to figure out a remedy. They had told me that sealcoating would cover up the spots, but this fix was going to be an additional cost because they contract out their seal coating. I was not happy, but I agreed to the idea initially. Due to the delay in responses from their office, the sealcoating was going to have to wait until the spring to be done. Once I discovered that I had to wait another six months to get my brand new, $5,000 driveway fixed, I was done with RI Paveway. They attributed the damage to cars turning their wheels on the driveway. They recommended that I baby the driveway, disallow any delivery drivers from using it, and be mindful of parking on it during hot weather for the NEXT THREE YEARS! I did not pay for a driveway that can only be used on certain days by certain people. I highly recommend using one of the other highly rated paving companies in the area. I would not do business with this company ever again in the future. In response to the owner's remarks: Hi Audrey, I would like to thank you for responding to my review on a Saturday night as well, if only all your communication was that prompt and efficient. I understand there are always, at minimum, two sides to a story, so I would also like to add clarification and facts. You are correct when you said you called within one minute of my first email. However, during that phone call, no time was set up for you to look at the driveway. It took two additional emails and four more weeks for the company to come out and look at my complaint. Additionally, at the time of my complaint, there was not five consecutive days of 90-degree weather. That Sunday it was 75 degrees, so please, if you are going to add "facts," please ensure they are factual. I've included a screenshot of that week's weather just for you. You are correct when you reference me calling my fiancé "the culprit," but I have to assume you missed my sarcasm. I won't argue about the details about how fast she "flew" into the driveway with your entire family standing in the driveway or how you can remember the exact spot she turned because it is irrelevant. I do find it interesting that you consider a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu, a midsize sedan weighing approximately 3,000 pounds, a "heavy tire." I hope potential customers see that so they are fully aware of what type of vehicles can be parked on their new driveway. It must be limited to bicycles, tricycles, and motorbikes. Finally, I never said that you told me not to use the driveway for three years. I stated you told me to baby it for three years in hot weather. Maybe I misunderstood, but this is verbatim from your last email, "when asphalt is not fully cured which can take upwards of 3 years it heats up especially when we have a couple of days of 90 degree weather consecutively. At that point, the binder that holds the aggregate becomes tacky and soft, making it easier for heavy tires (especially from parked vehicles or turning wheels or heavy delivery trucks) to leave impressions or scuff marks. My suggestion to baby the driveway was for these hotter months and that was just a suggestion to prevent any further cosmetic damage..." I am not a smart man, but that reads to me like you telling me not to use the driveway on hot days for the next three years. I also find it difficult to stop delivery drivers from using my driveway as I have to work for a living and cannot consistently monitor my driveway's traffic. I sincerely hope the cosmetic flaws that I paid $5,000 for do slowly fade away. I also hope that your "timely, comprehensive, and reasonable" communication truly becomes timely, comprehensive, and reasonable in the coming years. The quote I received from Brian included experienced advice with the addition of fulfilling all my wants and desires of the project. The service, quality work, quality materials, detail oriented mentality, communication, efficiency, and commitment of the entire project was the best I've ever had. I was amazed at how professional, informative, and knowledgeable the entire crew was during the installation. The small things matter with this company which included scrubbing and washing all parts of the fence, even spots that had the smallest amount of dirt. Personable guy, seemed very knowledgeable and confident he could handle our fence repair. We needed 12 or so posts replaced on our stockade fence, as they had all rotted out. Two weeks later I had to reach out to remind him to send us the estimate. A week after that on 5/8 we accepted the estimate and paid the 50% deposit. On 5/16 I reached out to see when they'd be coming out, Brian said between all the rain and other jobs they were backed up, should be another two weeks. No problem, we were in no rush. In the interim I got sick and spent some time in the hospital, totally forgot about the fence until I got out and went through my old emails, saw that I had been sent a reminder to pay the other half of the invoice for the job that had yet to be done. I texted Brian on 6/20, no response. I called or texted once a day over the next week without any response from Brian. Finally on 6/27 he texted me back "My guys are coming down Monday morning. I apologize. Should be there about nine 10 o'clock." The next day he texted me it would actually be Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning (6/30) came, the crew showed up on time, were very professional and friendly, and did a bang up job. The fence looks great and will hopefully hold up over time! Brian texted a couple times to apologize for the delay and remind me to pay the remaining amount. I told him I needed until I got paid over the weekend to settle up, and he agreed, but also sent an invoice reminder at least once a day, sometimes twice, until I paid ​on Sunday 7/5, which I found ironic since he ghosted me with zero communication for weeks, but was very communicative when it came time to get paid. TL;DR The Fence Solutions estimate was good, and I can't speak highly enough about the crew that came out to actually do the work, but I won't be calling Fence Solutions again after the weeks of zero communication while having our 50% deposit. A weekly update text during that time would have been great, or at the very least a timely response to my texts and calls would have been appreciated.
