These guys are pros. I heard of them while I was waiting for a city inspector for a job we did for one of our clients. As soon as the city inspector got there to inspect our HVAC job, he immediately started complementing the synthetic grass that my client had. I called Earth Design and Owen came out for an estimate. Owen is professional, knowledgeable, punctual and answered all of the questions I had. The work crew is really good and these guys are experienced. They all seem happy working and minding their own business. They knocked out the work in the amount of time they say they will. I had a great experience with Earth Design. After wasting time with another local turf company (uninspired design, not full service and took days chasing a quote), I messaged Earth Design on Yelp. They responded quickly and set up and appointment for Jim to visit. When Jim arrived, I explained what I wanted and he got it - no monkeying around. Within an hour, I had a quote which I promptly approved and we were off to the races. Jim gave me an install date about a week out - he had to order pavers or it may have been even faster. A week was fine though. On install day, Jim and the crew showed up and got right to work. Two days later, my vision realized, the work was complete. My backyard looks awesome! Here's what I liked about the my dealings with Earth Design: Jim was on time, great communicator, listened to what I wanted and executed the plan flawlessly. Crew was great. Hard working, respectful of my property, performed high quality work and cleaned up after they were done. Quality of turf is excellent (I purchased a very realistic looking, high quality turf.) Nice design. I showed Jim a photo of what I was thinking and he knew what I was looking for and it turned out GREAT! It's been almost a year and the turf has held up extremely well, no matting or turf coming up. *Of note, I have three small dogs that use the yard, but I spray with Simple Green Outdoor Odor eliminator weekly in warmer weather, bi-weekly in cooler weather - no smelly yard. Great experience with Seth and the Earth Design install team. I've been looking into synthetic turf for about a year now and finally started getting bids about a month ago and had 3 companies come out for estimates. Seth from Earth Design showed up on time (very much appreciated) and walked me through the technical and financial details of the project. He was very honest about the scope, timeframe and the product (turf) qualities and how they would vary (or not vary) from company to company. He spent ample time answering my questions from grading, drainage, turf differences and any pet issues that may arise. The other 2 companies were ok (one lower bid and one higher) however I decided to go with Seth and his team and I'm very glad I did. His crew showed up right on time with an army of trucks, equipment and materials and they started working soon after arrival. You can tell this wasn't their first time doing this as each one of the workers pretty much knew what their role was from digging, turf cutting and product placement. For the area (putting green design) they needed my input, we were able to work out a great shape and they assisted with hole placements and grading suggestions as well. Whether it's no maintenance or low maintenance, I now have more maintenance. Pre-artificial turf, the gardener jut cut the grass, now he has to kill the weeds and the additional grass growing out of the artificial turf and then when they're dead, he has to pull the dead weeds out of the turf. read more

Our front yard was done a few years back by Smart Grass, who never bothered to call back when we requested an estimate.( pretty poor response to a former customer) But we feel fortunate that Seth and Earth Design was who we selected to do the backyard because it looks better than the front yard done by Smart Grass . I've been putting off this update because it is so unpleasant to relive my experience. So, I will keep it as brief as I can. It took me one year to get the owner, Chris, to come to my house to look at the turf. Previously, without looking at the turf, he had instructed his guys to power mow it and to add two different kinds of infill which had no effect. When he finally came to look, he made several comments: "This looks like a truck drove over it." I weigh 120 lbs. He told me that infill isn't the only factor (that's an entire story in itself). He commented that another customer was having an issue with the turf "curling." Said that he would never use this turf again. He suggested installing pavers. I had never wanted pavers but the only other solution would be to replace the entire yard. However, I agreed to try it. As before, the installers were great. The location of the pavers, for esthetic reasons, doesn't cover the flattened turf but runs parallel to it. Now, the only way I can prevent the rest of the turf from flattening is to not step on it. I have a large yard that I can't walk on. We discussed manufacturer warranty possibilities and he said he would speak with them. It had been a year by now so it was iffy that they would agree to replace the turf. I even told Chris that I would help pay for the labor. The primary reason that Chris made any effort at all to fix anything was because he wanted me to change my Yelp review. I said I would when he fixed the problem. Well, I wrote an update saying that I was optimistic now that he was going to call the manufacturer -- planning to update further when the problem was resolved. Then, a women made comments to my original update accusing me of blackmailing them (to get a good review). I deleted the update and called her. It was ugly. She said "It's just you and me now." It was like she wanted to take me out in the alley and fight. Finally, I did what I think most shabby companies do - I gave up. Just gave up because I wouldn't deal with them any more. I think that, maybe, if Chris had come to look at the turf after I first tried to contact him, we might have been able to resolve things. My grade for this company is: F for sales integrity, A for installation, F for quality control, and F for customer service. read more

After moving into our dream house, the grass in our yard was perpetually fluctuating between patches of green, brown and dead. It's hard to keep a lawn beautiful in SoCal, especially in the summer. I was referred by the main website Synlawn to call this company concerning DIY materials for a artificial lawn I wanted to install. Gave this company a call Seth eventually called me back during our conversation the phone disconnected. I waited for Seth to call me back he didn't so I called him back. I actually first met with Seth about a year ago, but I wasn't ready to make the commitment just yet. Fast forward to this past week, and I sent him an email to let him know that I wanted to proceed. I chose Earth Design because Seth seemed honest and we agreed on the price and scheduled an installation time. The day that crew arrived and started working there was no supervision nor was easy to communicate with the crew, because I asked them to be mindful of the swimming pool but our pool was dirty and muddy. I asked Seth if he would send a pool person to clean our pool and he said they are not responsible. After a month of installation natural grass was Growing out from all over and again Seth was not happy when I brought to his attention. It is amazing that after all the problem I had with this installation the company didn't bother to send a responsible person to check the turf.
