Eagle Ridge Mall opened on February 22, 1996 with 80 stores, a carousel, an ice skating rink, and anchor stores that included Sears, JCPenney, and Dillard's. The grand opening of the 100 million dollar, 624,000 square-foot mall attracted 3,700 people within the first 30 minutes and 22,000 shoppers celebrated the new mall throughout the day. Throughout the ensuing years the mall has faced challenges like the sinkhole that developed beneath a children's play area and a second hole beneath an area of the Sears store in 1998. In 2009, the economic downturn led to then-owner, General Growth Properties, filling for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It was reportedly the largest real estate bankruptcy in U.S. history at the time. The Sears store closed in late 2016, and JCPenney closed in June 2020, leaving Dillard's as the sole remaining original anchor store. After Covid there were only 40 businesses left in the mall. While the two anchor stores remain vacant, management has managed to increase the number of businesses to over 70. These include Regal 12 Cinema, the Lake Wales Bowl, with Strikes Bar and Grill, and the El Pilón Loko Puerto Rican restaurant adjacent to the food court. There is also a bounce house park play area for $12. While the mall looks like it has been through it I really loved my visit. it felt like a throwback to the 80's. There were some really unique stores and the carousel in the food court was absolutely beautiful. Where some people see a dump, I see a reminder of a simpler time. This mall is a dump, a dying animal. Driving by it, you wonder how it got in this condition. Well, today I found out why. I ran into a plastic security guard claiming to be the assistant mall manager. I was to do some work at one of the stores in the mall early in the morning or after closing. In my line of work I have to be in the store doing my work BEFORE the stores opens because I have ladders and equipment on the sales floor. Obviously, so it does not disturb or possibly hurt the customers. Well, the "assistant mall manager" doesn't know or understand this. He's never heard of contractors coming in before the mall opens to complete work that could possibly hurt customers. The "assistant mall manager" doesn't know this!! Like I said earlier, I now know why this mall is going bankrupt... management!! Here's a tip to the mall manager, tell your assistant, if that's his actual title, to stop roaming the halls acting like a tough guy, talking down to people that are just trying to do their job. He didn't even bother to radio his fellow security guards or the store to ask if they were expecting me. He literally told me to leave immediately and come back when the mall opens like everyone else. Unbelievable "management" treats people like this because his tilte allows him to. Again, if that's his actual title as one would never expect true management to act this way. Complaint will be filed with the actual manager and the company that owns the mall. read more

I've read all the prior review. yes this mall could use some updating but if you don't want to be crowded by A mob of ppl on a Friday night this is the spot. Went to view beetlejuice at their regal movie theater. It was a nice experience. I would recommend a wider selection for the snacks and restaurants in the mall. The big air slide could be turned into an actual park for younger children. But everyone was friendly and halls were clean. read more

This mall is like many other indoor malls in the greater area....dying a slow death. Half the mall is taken by an inflatable Minion themed park that's $8 for all day play. Another part of the mall is taken by a daycare / school that is opening up. There are few and far between on the stores, and they were empty and lifeless when we passed by. There are only a couple of brand name shops left and just a couple of anchor stores to help pull in traffic. The mall itself looked dingy and dark. There aren't many options in this area as a whole, so I imagine this location will stay open for a little bit, but I don't see it surviving the long haul. Overall: D A dying indoor mall with little to offer in the way of stores or events. If you want an indoor inflatable fun park for your littles - hit them up! read more

assistant Mall Manager, Bruce doesn't know how to do his job properly. He doesn't know how to confirm with the stores about before and after hours work scheduled. Apparently he hates contractors and doesn't recall that they have been scheduled earlier than mall hours to get work done before the customers come in to the store. He has a bad attitude and thinks he owns the mall. I wouldn't go back to this location ever again. It's a very crappy mall in the first place and according to "management," everybody can see why it's a dying mall. Apparently the Assistant Mall manager can't even afford mall security because he's roaming the halls. He didn't even bother to call anybody or walk me to the site. He didn't ask for a work order. This mall is in a great location! But it is like a cemetery! Soooo many empty units :( There are so many new houses going in around that area - why doesn't the owner do something about it?!!!!!!! The stores that are still there need some support! (And the bathrooms are disgusting....) read more

This mall is like a dying animal. Slowly but surely, stores fade away. Usually what takes over is cheap knock off brand stores. They even took out the Starbucks to replace it with "Star Coffee". As an adult, I really Don't enjoy this mall. We only go for convenience sake for GameStop and the movies rather than driving to Orlando. However, I have three stars because they really have some awesome stuff here for the kids. They have an indoor inflatable playground that's $8/$5 (depending on season) for the kids there's a old school carousel in the food court and a free playground close to the sears. Plus, they have monthly events where they host with a DJ and have face painting, balloon animals, stilt walker, dance competitions, etc. All the kids really enjoy this. As a kid, it gets a high rating. As an adult, not so Much. read more

This is one of the, if not the creepiest mall I have ever been to. The only store I remotely felt safe in was JCP. The entire mall was dark and abandon. 2/3 stores was empty and I saw cockroaches in the windows of several abandon stores. From what I could tell there was no maps of the mall and I spent 20 minutes looking for one store. The Claire's in the mall was messy and there were packs of things all over the floor. In the main hallway half the lights were out and after I left I felt like I needed to take a shower. If you have to go here for any reason do not go alone. If I could give this mall a rating of zero stars I would. read more

I've been to this mall since childhood and I gotta say. It isn't doing so well... Most of the stores there are either abandoned or knock off stores, and the only anchor store that's still up and running is Dillard's, (JCPenny and sears went bankrupt). From what I've experienced, the mall started going downhill at around the 2018 year as many stores were closing and traffic seemed to slow down. Also, half of the mall was replaced with a minion/frozen themed bouncy castle in early 2015. (Doesn't that seem kind of desperate?) The only reason I gave this a 3 star and not 1, is because it looks like they are trying to refurbish. Which is a good thing. Now if you went to this mall at around 2010 to 2016 it would look the exact opposite. But as we know, those times have passed and most malls/retails have been dying out from the success of online retails like Amazon. And with COVID-19 affecting road trips. But unfortunately, this mall is one of them. I just hope they at least try to get some more investors in this thing because they still do have some charms. (A decently sized cinema, and I nice arcade/ bowling alley.) but overall, this mall is practically dead, and I won't be surprised if it end up closing soon. read more

I've watched this mall evolve for two decades and I can sum it up in two words. Irreversible decline. It seems like it's mostly cell phone kiosks and knockoff vendors. Almost more like a flea market than a mall. And empty stores. I would estimate that this mall is close to 40% vacant. Parking lot is old, outdated and just sucks. The mall is dead, has very little choices in shops, very quiet like a scary movie. They need to hire Dobis. I purchased from a mens shop a crappy shirt that had to be exchanged because it fell apart at the seams. The new shirt is low quality. Looked like silk, but it is just cheap polyester. The owner of the shop wouldn't let me try it on before purchase. The theatre is cool, decent selection and polite people. Good workers. The kings bbq restaurant has the worst service I have ever had in my life. The girls are busy talking to each other and huddling in the kitchen. This mall is very close to where my mom lives and my neighbor needed to get something quick so we decided on this one. The mall itself closes early i would say and doesn't seem to get a lot of traffic like other malls. Nothing wrong with it just it's small and not as crowded. Well at least from the day that I passed by it didn't seem like it. If I need something fast and don't want to travel far I would come here again. I did get to see Santa haha and it was nice to see the tree up and his section. read more

From what i have visited the mall, this mall is dying and if something isn't done quick this mall wont last one more year, they need to invest some money and promote the mall, they need to get some big corporate stores back in the mall, not just those mom and pop stores.(example there is a store thata a perfume place which owns the little knock jewelery stand i front of it and sunglass stand) yea off course the mall needs traffic, but the only way to do that is to make the mall appealing and safe. Safe how? By putting more security and putting more lights in the outside and inside off the mall. Food? Yes defently they should bring more to the mall! Im pretty sure that if the mall owner gives good prices on leasing and has excellent tenant knowledge and experience. Plus also fixing the outer sign that indicates its the mall should be more vivid and not like it is now!! These are some of the many things that i think should be fixed along with other stuff that need attetion as we'll and im pretty sure the mall wont die and they'll gain the traffic needed to be on the rise again!! The mall is dark and not inviting at all. They don't have a decent selection of stores at all. I was looking for shoes and I went to 3 stores and the shoe of choice was Nike and nothing more. They really need to update the mall with better stores and maybe a Starbucks, but before that happens they'll need foot traffic and higher end stores and some better lighting. I was very disappointed in Dillards too. As for safety I was happy to have my husband with me. I would never go there alone. No security that I seen either. I guess I'll be driving to Tampa or Kissimmee. Giving one star was generous. This mall has a day care, a school for K-12 and Church. read more

The mall as a whole... It's just a small, average mall with not a huge selection but has mostly what you would expect there. It is presentable and is not usually very crowded which is nice. read more
