Eagle Ridge Mall opened on February 22, 1996 with 80 stores, a carousel, an ice skating rink, and…read moreanchor stores that included Sears, JCPenney, and Dillard's. The grand opening of the 100 million dollar, 624,000 square-foot mall attracted 3,700 people within the first 30 minutes and 22,000 shoppers celebrated the new mall throughout the day. Throughout the ensuing years the mall has faced challenges like the sinkhole that developed beneath a children's play area and a second hole beneath an area of the Sears store in 1998. In 2009, the economic downturn led to then-owner, General Growth Properties, filling for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It was reportedly the largest real estate bankruptcy in U.S. history at the time. The Sears store closed in late 2016, and JCPenney closed in June 2020, leaving Dillard's as the sole remaining original anchor store. After Covid there were only 40 businesses left in the mall. While the two anchor stores remain vacant, management has managed to increase the number of businesses to over 70. These include Regal 12 Cinema, the Lake Wales Bowl, with Strikes Bar and Grill, and the El Pilón Loko Puerto Rican restaurant adjacent to the food court. There is also a bounce house park play area for $12. While the mall looks like it has been through it I really loved my visit. it felt like a throwback to the 80's. There were some really unique stores and the carousel in the food court was absolutely beautiful. Where some people see a dump, I see a reminder of a simpler time. Don't write this old girl off yet.

As a Floridian who makes it to Orlando a few times a year, I always make it a point to stop at the…read moreDisney outlets. There are two outlet centers close to each other--Orlando International Premium Outlets and Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets--and both have a Disney Character Warehouse. If you're looking for discounted items for your Disney trip--or you're just a Disney fan--this is definitely the place to go. The price cuts compared to Walt Disney World are huge, and you can save a lot instead of paying those in-park prices. I've been here when it's super quiet, and I've also had to wait in line just to get inside--it really depends on timing. I've found everything from Lilly Pulitzer pieces to great clothing, accessories, and Disney bags. It can be hit or miss, but when you score, it's worth it. If you have kids--or just want to avoid breaking the bank--this is absolutely a must-stop.

Generally speaking these are probably the only outlets you will find me at. More specifically, the…read moreRobert Graham store here is amazing. No reason to fight online sales since the value and selection is so amazing here. Also, where else can you get a tequila tasting (if you catch it on the right day) when shopping for your RGs? Anyway... the one downside, well, I guess two, but they sort of go together are the crowds and parking. I can't tell you how much I don't like trolling for an opening. Yes, I'll pay the ten dollars, or whatever it is, to go premium on the parking in addition to the outlets!

In addition to selling merchandise in bins that includes party supplies, toys, home goods, small appliances, and more, they also have boxed electronics and they are on a few online auction sites. Prices of items depend on the day you shop. Friday is $12, Saturday is $10, Sunday is $7. Monday is $5, Tuesday is $3, Wednesday is $1, and Thursday is .50 cents. Even though I was there on a Tuesday the items were $1. All of the things I saw on my day were worth $1 or less. I did pick up some bamboo skewers. It was really hot in the room because there was no AC. The girl who rang me up was very nice. I don't know how she lasts working in that oven all day. It is kind of hard to rate a store like this. If you find a good deal it can easily be 5 stars. My day was slim pickings. If you want to increase your odds of finding a treasure you can follow them on social media where they post when a truck arrives. You want to be one of the first to hit the new stock. This can be a fun store for the adventurous shopper who doesn't mind digging through bins.
